Advance Illustrations / Term 9 / Jason Holley 

Part 2. I tend to do 2 steps for sketches. First I do an idea sketches, which is just brain storming ideas, compositions, and textures. Then I do an more detailed sketches thats is close to final with adding limited colors and values already so its easier to get critique and shortens time for myself to get to the final. Also in this class, research is very important which is good for future because you’ll do a lot of it for almost every illustration assignment.

Advance Illustrations / Term 9 / Jason Holley 

It was a class that Art Center didn’t have it for while but they brought it back ! Which messed up my graduation schedule so make sure to double check your degree audit every term and waive the class as soon as possible if they don’t offer or you have to take unexpected extra class like me -__- Anyway, but it ended up being one of best class to take before I graduated. It was my 5th time taking Jason Holley which was good because he would always tries to make me jump outside of the box. Class assignments was experimental such as making a restaurant bag, drawing illustration from podcast, designing a entrance sign and create music festival posters. Jason focused a lot on how to push our ideas, how sketches should looks like and was able to hear about his illustration job which he usually don’t talk about. Also we did few in class idea sketching which was good exercise for your art brain.

Drawing Project / Term 8 / Jason Holley

Series of drawings I did of daily life in Edo period, Japan! This started as Jason picking up a random year number, (mine was 1927) and had to do research what happened that interested you in that year. I choose about Hikeshi (Firefighter during Edo period) and that eventually leaded me to focused more on the daily life of people (refrenced from ukiyo-e) in that period.

Drawing Project / Term 8 / Jason Holley 

My 2nd time taking this class! Jason is really great at eye opining your perspective and doesn’t baby you! You get to do 2 series of drawings. For this, I did a series of drawings of art school my friends’ desk which was so much fun to draw all the tiny messy details!

Term 4 / Fall 2013 / Image and Idea with Jason Holley

Probably first class that i bloomed. I used to think "finished" work has to be refined , sharp, crisp and clean. But in this class it thought me there is other ways i can "finish" work without being stressed.
