aged up manager fem!reader x aged up argentina volleyball player oikawa
When the beloved, handsome, famous, volleyball setter figured out that you, their team's manager, had very very strong feelings for him, the last thing you expected was for those feelings to be reciprocated.
It took a week for him to convince you to go out on a date with him in public that wasn’t a darkly lit movie theater. or took two weeks to convince you to let him kiss you in public. and it took one day to convince you to be his girlfriend. you were a little paranoid, you couldn’t lie about that, but your job was on the line. so was your boyfriend’s. you didn’t wanna be careless and get caught by one of his millions of fans, making out at the back of a Taco Bell at 3AM.
that was totally a one time thing though.
but the absolute VERY last thing you expected, even after your 3 months of dating, was to be making out with him after his practice in the locker room.
His hands gripped your waist lightly while you tugged on his jersey. He pulled you impossibly closer with each second you were together. Your lips never disconnected for longer than a moment before the kissing began again.
Oikawa broke away from you, taking in your messed up state. His heart was racing and his mind was running in different ways he could destroy you right now if he wanted to. the way your hair had fallen from its ponytail and was scattered across your head and your lips were swollen and the lip gloss you used could be tasted on his lips, making him crazy.
“my pretty girl…” he mumbled before moving down to your neck. he kissed it and bit it and eventually left a very small but visible hickey a few inches under your ear.
Unfortunately, he got stopped when a loud sound came from outside the locker room.
you quickly ran before Oikawa even got the chance to stop you. seconds later his teammate came in with a raised eyebrow. “toru? you okay?”
he nodded and chuckled lightly, his chest still rising heavily from the activities that had just taken place with you. “yeah, i’m fine. just about to head out.”
his teammate nodded slowly. he don’t believe him in the slightest but he didn’t question it. “alright well hurry up. everyone’s gotta be out by time the janitor gets here. plus, we got that game tomorrow in the next city over, i need you well rested.”
Oikawa nodded and leaned his back against the locker you were just pressed against. he ran a hand through his hair.
“great.” his teammate nodded before walking out. “later toru.” he glanced in the corner you had ran to. “bye ms. manager. see ya next week.” he smirked and walked out.
to say you both were shocked by his words would be an understatement. were you both that obvious? you slowly emerged from the corner you were hiding in and walked over to stand by oikawa. it was silent for a few seconds more before he burst into laughter. he clutched his stomach while leaning over, while tears started to form in his eyes.
“this is not funny.” you told him, stern voice and all. “i could get fired if the coach finds out. or any of your fans.” he was still laughing. you smacked his arm multiple times before hitting him on the head on good, hard time with your fist.
“ow!” he whined. he pouted while rubbing the top of his head. “what was the reason?”
he smirked at you and stood up straight. “now why would we do that?”
“so i don’t get fired and your reputation doesn’t go down the damn drain.” you told him, voice raising just a little. you opened his locker to grab your things from inside of it.
“but i thought you loved me?” he teasingly asked you while leaning on the locker next to his with crossed arms. he faced you and laughed at the glare you sent him. “who cares what they think? it’s not like you're my boss or anything. we just work together, baby.” he tried reasoning with you.
he’d go public with you if you’d allow it. he wanted everyone to know you were his. ever since he joined the team, he’s had his eyes on you. you were cute, sweet, adorable, funny, a little stern, but only when you had to be. you took care of everyone on the team, did your best to make sure everyone was feeling okay before a match. you were there for the team for whatever happened, whether they won or lost, whether they took a medal, trophy, or nothing home.
and oikawa? God, you took care of him like he was your boyfriend before you were actually dating. you fixed his hair, made sure he always had a snack at break, had his water ready just the way he liked it (ice to the brim so he had something to chew on even though you’ve told him time after time again it’s bad for his teeth), and you helped hung out with him outside the team. much more than all the other members.
so maybe you guys were pretty obvious.
oikawa planted a kiss on your cheek as a way to get you to quiet down. you turned your entire body to face him. “so what if they find out?”
“your career is at steak here toru, i’m not gonna ruin everything you’ve worked so hard for all for—”
you cut you off quickly, “all for what? you? what, you think you're not worth it or something?”
you didn’t answer him. instead you took his backpack out his locker and handed it to him. when you closed the locker your eyes moved to his. they were a beautiful brown. they could hold your attention forever if you let them.
you smiled and got closer to him before standing on your tiptoes to give him what was supposed to be a small kiss on his lips. but once his arms untangled from each other and found your waist, you didn’t want to pull away from him like you planned to.
when you did finally break from the kiss after a long couple of seconds you smiled up at him, face just the tiniest bit red.
“bye toru.” you chuckled and slowly walked out the locker room, making sure to check all your surroundings before you started the short walk back to your car.
toru stood there for a second longer before grabbing his things and leaving as well. usually he’d walk you to your car, why’d you say goodbye? why’d you leave without him? did he just get broken up with?
once he was out of the gym he stared at the ground. he smirked and started walking “nahhh.”
the next day, as the entire volleyball team made it to the gym at 8AM sharp (the same gym you and oikawa were making out last night), oikawa looked everywhere for you. you weren’t answering his calls last night or his messages. you didn’t call him when you woke up. you didn’t send him a quick message reminding him to be on time. what the hell was going on??
he wasted no time. “where’s y/n?”
“oh she said she’d meet us there.” the coach said as he looked at the team all sitting around and chatting. some of the members were in a chair, dozed off. “she volunteered at the last minute to help set up the court, so she should be getting there about right now. and we…should be leaving. is that the bus?” the coach proceeded to round the team up and get them on the bus, encouraging them to sleep on the two hour ride.
oikawa checked his phone again. nothing. you haven’t said anything. and was your phone on DND???
just minutes before the game started is when oikawa finally found you. you appeared out of no where and started talking to the coach. you had a clipboard and together you and the coach studied the other team. you jotted down a few things before running to the down referee.
as you walked back towards the team, he finally stopped you. “hey!” he grabbed your arm, pulling you towards him. “why were you ignoring me last night?”
you didn’t answer. not because you were still ignoring him but because you genuinely didn't know. you saw all the text and calls go through. you watch him stay up until 2AM calling your phone. you didn’t sleep last night at all but you wanted to tell him so bad to go to bed. but then you’d have to talk to him. what were you supposed to say? you thought he was throwing his life away for you! it wasn’t worth it.
“i…was asleep?” you sucked at coming up with excuses.
“i saw you online on instagram all night. and you have literal circles under your eyes, don’t lie to me.” he scoffed. “you were up all night, why?”
the referee blew his whistle loud enough to get everyone’s attention on the court. he signaled the captains of each team to come foward and do the coin toss. they listened and rushed over.
“well?” oikawa questioned you.
“nothing toru.” you smiled.
he let go of you arm so he could cross his own across his chest. “don’t give me that.”
you sighed and looked at the stands full of people. a goo chunk for the bad on some sort of shirt with your boyfriends face on it. or a flag with his face. or a hat. where they were getting these things was a mystery but it made you question everything nonetheless.
he had all of this, why did he need you? and why would he through it all away for you?
“i just…” you started, looking anywhere in the gym but his eyes. “i don’t want you to through it all away for me.” you mumbled as their team captain ran back to the coach.
“your still on this?” he rose an eyebrow. “y/n, i already told you i don’t care—”
“but i care!” you told him truthfully eyes do my locking with his. “you have a crowd of cheerlearderas here toru. i know you, you wouldn’t throw that away for the world, let alone me.” you smiled sadly and chuckled, “you like the attention to much.” you took your finger and tap the tip of his nose lightly, something you enjoyed doing to people close to you.
you hated to admit it sometimes, but you and oikawa were totally opposites. he craved attention, you ran away from it. he strived to be the best all the time, you just hoped to make it through the day most of the time. maybe you both loved each other, but you wouldn’t let him put his job at steak for you.
“oikawa! get over here!” his coach called him. you both looked back at the rest of the team huddled together.
“come on. you’ve got a game to win.” you smiled again and walked off towards the bench where you would be sitting.
oikawa was left speechless. he could only sigh before jogging over to his team, joining their conversation. he tried his absolute hardest to only focus on his captain’s words but his mind couldn’t help but drift back to you ever now and again. not that you knew but you had become his everything.
two sets in, and your team was so close to taking this game in three straight sets.
but when it was all almost over, they got stuck in serve receive.
the scoreboard sat at 24-22. one more point, that was all they needed to win. but for three straight points they had been targeting oikawa in serve receive and you could see it on his face that he was punishing himself mentally right now.
with no time outs left and the other team waiting on a player to tie their shoe, you watched from the bench as oikawa’s fist tightened and he sighed for probably the hundredth time.
so you did the only thing you really could do. you cheered. loud.
at the top of your lungs, you screamed over all the over cheers around the stadium. it started the crowd. behind you to start going crazy. they started chanting for the team, the the players not in the game started clapping. the opposing team gave you many weird looks but you ignored them. for the sake of oikawa.
oikawa looked up from the glossy, wood, gym floor, with wide eyes. he wasn’t shocked by the fans or his teammates, but you. you sent him a small smile and two thumbs up. he returned the smile, even bigger than yours. his dimples started showing and he shook his head in hopes of focusing on the game again.
and when the other team finally served the ball when everyone was ready it flew over the net, right toward oikawa once again.
as if a miracle had occurred, he got the ball up towards the center of his side of the court. the crowd cheered wildly as the libero set the ball up and oikawa being oikawa, approached and jumped high before spiking the ball down in front of the other team past the block and landing right in front of their serve specialist who had given the team such a hard time.
their fans in the crowd exploded with cheers and claps. the team and coach were ecstatic and delighted and you let out a sigh of relief.
usually the teams would line up and high five each other, thank them for a good game and be on their way, but oikawa had other plans.
he ignored his captain yelling at him to line up, all eyes on him. he ran towards you and you could hear your heartbeat racing as he did so. why was he coming over here? he should be lining up. God you wanted to hide right now.
oikawa grabbed your hands with yours and pulled you up off the bench. you were a stuttering mess. “what…what a- are you…”
“i know i have all i’ve ever wanted in life.” he started, eyes staring into your beautiful ones. “i’ve never wanted anything more than to be the setter on a famous team and play for them while having a punch of screaming fans. it’s like high school all over again. but your in my life now. and i don’t want you to leave.”
your eyes widen at his words. the cheers and yells of everyone around got blurred.
“i probably have hundreds of fans and cheerleaders up in those stands right now.” you rolled your eyes. “but i only want you. i don’t care about anything else. and if i get kicked off the team for this then so be it. you are completely worth it.”
“wait get off the team for what—” his lips locked with yours. the cheers became louder than before and you could hear you team whistle at you both playfully. you eyes closed while oikawa held your cheeks in his hands delicately. your shoulders relaxed and you leaned into his kiss, loving the feeling of his lips on yours.
oikawa pulled away from you at the sound of his coach’s heavy hands clapping together. “alright lovebirds, let’s go!” he yelled.
oikawa chuckled and stepped away. before he left you, he brought your hand up to his mouth, planting a small kiss on the back of it. “you're my favorite cheerleader, princess.”
