In 1979, the construction of the main monument began and in 1982, shortly before the Victory Day. According to the project taken in 2002, there is a plan to set up a flame, a well-ordered mural, and a library.
The total area of the memorial premises is 84 acres. The monument is surrounded by a green balloted tree in an area of 24 acres. The height of the monument is 150 feet The monument consists of seven pairs of triangular walls. The walls have been arranged very well from small to small. These seven pairs of walls indicate the seven consecutive series of inthe dependence movement. The building was built considering the 1952 Language Movement, the 1954 United Front Election, the 1956 Constitutional Movement, the 1962 Education Movement, the 1966 Six-Point Movement, the mass upsurge of 1969, the liberation war of 1971 - considering these seven phenomena as the roundabout of the independence movement.
