Hi! Can I request Luke Patterson + Magic by One Direction? Thank you!
Summary: Your parents don't accept Luke as your boyfriend, but when have you listened to their opinion anyway? Especially when Luke writes songs for you.
MAGIC
It wasn’t unclear how much your parents disapproved Luke. A lead singer of a rock band, rock bands were almost as bad as rappers — they’d end up overdosing on drugs and dying in some alley. They had forbidden you from meeting him, but it wasn’t like you were going by what they told you to do anyway. So you kept meeting him, sitting at that garage, listening to the boys play.
The garage phone rang time to time — you had no idea how, but your parents had figured out the number. But the guys always said neither you or Luke were present, and they offered your parents a chance to come search for you if they don’t believe that. They had threatened to come on many occasions, but they never appeared anyway.
Today, the mood was a little bit calmer than usual. They didn’t perform for you, they rather just tuned their guitars, Alex was dusting off his drums, and Luke was browsing through his notebook.
“He wrote something for you,” Reggie told you suddenly, earning a glare from Luke.
“Shut up,” your boyfriend barked.
“He did,” Alex confirmed. “He wrote it all night.”
You looked at him, surprised, and he shrugged. “I— it’s not ready yet. But yeah, I’ve written something for you.”
You blinked, your heart skipping. “Can I hear it?”
Luke shook his head. “I haven’t really made the music for it yet, just the lyrics. Sorry.”
“…Can I read it, then?”
He held the notebook closer to his chest for a moment, before nodding slowly, letting you take it from his hands and read through it.
You read in silence for a moment, marvelling the way of words your boyfriend had — he had a true skill, a chance to actually become a world famous superstar. Not that it came as a surprise to you, but this song especially truly showed his skill.
"Luke," you said.
"It's rough," he said quickly. "The second verse especially, I know it's—"
"It's really good."
He froze, before he blinked. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
He stared at you for a moment longer, before he slowly grinned. “I’ll make sure you’ll be the first one to hear it when it’s ready, then.”
“You’d better,” you muttered, leaning in for a kiss. “And after that, I want the whole world to hear how I’m yours.”
He chuckled, granting you the kiss you wordlessly asked him — and you felt yourself falling even deeper in love than you already were. Luke was truly the best thing that had happened to you, and you wouldn’t trade him for anything.
Luke looks up from his journal, pausing in his writing as his eyebrows furrow in confusion at the sound of frustration coming from the bathroom. He sits up from his relaxed position on the couch and looks toward the hallway leading to where you're in the bathroom getting ready to go with him and meet up with the rest of Sunset Curve for lunch. He doesn't have to wait long as he hears you let out another exasperated groan and the noise of bottles being thrown around.
Setting down his journal and pencil on the coffee table, he leaves the living room and makes his way over to the bathroom door in large strides. Knocking on the door, Luke calls out, "Everything okay?"
"I'm not leaving this apartment."
Luke shakes his head in amusement at your statement. "Can I come in?"
"I guess."
He opens the door and steps inside to a mess. You're sitting on the edge of the tub, dressed and ready to go out except that your hair is not done yet. Though with everything he sees littered throughout the counter, he's surprised that's the case: a spray bottle filled with water, hair spray, mousse, containers filled with oils and creams of all the colors of the rainbow, and various brushes and combs of all different shapes and sizes.
"I'm not going anymore," You tell Luke with a sigh, tossing your hairbrush into the sink and turning to lean against the counter, a frown on your face.
Luke leans opposite of you, back against the wall. "Why not? You know Bobby is buying, right? Free lunch."
On any other day, the offer of free food would have you running toward the door but instead, all he sees is you staying firmly planted in your spot.
You gesture to the sink where all of your hair products are strewn about haphazardly. "My hair doesn't want to work with me today. I've literally put everything I have on my hair and I cannot get it to settle down. It's all frizzy and I've already lost three hairbands to it." You throw your hands up in exasperation. "I give up and I'm just going to stay in today."
Luke frowns at your comment. "You've been forward to Guigino's all week."
You let out a sigh. "I know but I don't know what to do with my hair. I literally only use scrunchies so it's not like I have anything in my room to cover it up with."
A beat passes between the two of you before Luke speaks up. "Wear my beanie."
You open your mouth, probably to politely thank him and refuse his offer but he cuts you off as he's quick to take off the bright orange beanie and makes his way to you.
Placing his hands on your shoulders, he gently turns you so that you're facing the mirror. Setting down the beanie on the edge of the sink, he reaches from behind you and he turns on the sink, wetting his hands before turning off the faucet. Luke begins running his hands through your hair, helping to pat down flyaway hairs and any other hairs that are sticking out.
You stay quiet, watching him through the mirror as a grin grows on his face, satisfied that most of your hair is tamed. He picks up the beanie and places it on you. Looking at the mirror, he tucks any stray hair under the beanie, eyes narrowing in concentration. With a satisfied nod, he meets your eyes through the mirror and gestures to the mirror. "Now you're ready for Guigino's."

Hey guys! I’d just like to say thank you for the support i am receiving to write these fanfics, i couldn’t ask to be apart of such a lovely community. I love JATP so much and i hope it can live on even if it’s discontinued!
Today’s requested fanfic is something new to me as a writer, this fanfic contains smut near the end of it! It is y/n’s birthday and the boys especially Luke are stressed to make today perfect for y/n… even if a certain ghostly boy loses sleep over it.
I hope you enjoy!

Today wasn’t just any ordinary day for the boys and Julie, it was a special day, y/n’s day to be exactly. On this perfectly sunny day with no clouds in sight and a nice cool breeze, it just so happens to be y/n’s birthday. To the boys, birthdays mean a lot to them, they use it as an opportunity to show their appreciation for their friends and to show they care for the people close to them. Julie has witnessed this firsthand and knows they can be a bit extra with their celebrations. However, y/n doesn’t usually celebrate his birthday. This is the first time his birthday has come around whilst being in the boys lives, they had met y/n just under a year ago so they missed his birthday last year.
Currently, y/n and Julie were sitting in y/n’s room thinking up a storm as they were writing lyrics. “Hmm … maybe this could work?” y/n hums a melody alongside the lyrics they had written down it had a similar vibe to Julie and the Phantoms hit song Stand Tall, however it was more soft and emotion provoking. “Oh! That sounds amazing y/n!” Julie spoke as she agreed with his choice for the song. You may be wondering why they were doing this on y/n’s special day? Well this was just a distraction so the boys could finish off their plans for y/n’s birthday celebrations.
“Reggie… why did you get your country posters…” Luke looked at Reggie with a look saying more than it needed to, it seems like they have this discussion more often than Luke would like to have. “Well I figured y/n would like a bit of country too…” Reggie spoke like a lost puppy in a dorks body as both Luke and Alex shook his head. “Reg, tonight needs to be perfect! so … maybe ease off with the posters for today?” Luke spoke as Reggie pouted and started mouthing, imitating the words Luke says.
“Oh yes! Everything has to be perfect because it's your boyfriend's birthday” Reggies spoke sarcastically with a hint of teasing as he smirked with an eyebrow raised. Alex sighed at this interaction between the two of them. “Reggie you’ll understand once you get a partner yourself” Alex said with a spice of sass to it which caused Reggie to pout and sit on the couch with crossed arms seemingly being a little dramatic about the whole partner thing. “Oh Reg…” Alex felt bad for the poor guy, both his best friends were in relationships of their own and yet he’s still just got his best friends and Julie. Alex moved over to consolidate Reggie with the usual ‘there's plenty of fish in the sea’ shtick as luckily the boys were almost done decorating and putting out food and gifts for the party.
There was only a small group of people invited to y/n’s party, just the boys, Julie and Fylnn but despite the small amount of people who were coming, the garage was full of balloons and hanging decorations. There was a massive poster attached to the front of Alex’s drumset at the back of the garage saying ‘Happy Birthday y/n!’ in the neatest handwriting the boys could fork out. “Hey man… did you eventually find a gift for y/n?” Alex spoke over to Luke with a hint of concern in his voice. This question caused Luke to freeze up, he had spent weeks looking for the perfect gift, everything HAD to be perfect for y/n… but he couldn’t find anything and felt guilty for it. “No alex… i didn’t” Luke spoke in honesty, holding his head low as he started tapping his food from stress. The other boys noticed this and moved over to him realising that they didn’t have time for Reggie to be sulking. “I’m sure it’ll be fine Luke!” Reggie reassured him with a little pat on the back. “Yeah! I’ve never really imagined y/n to be the materialistic type anyways… i’m sure celebrating it is more than enough” Alex followed up reassuringly.
Luke looked at his two best friends with his usual puppy dog eyes “Guys are you sure?” he asked for reassurance as the others nod in response. Seeing this, Luke finally relaxed as he threw himself onto the couch hitting one of the balloons to keep himself entertained until the main event arrived. “Thank you… i’d be a wreck without you guys” He said gratefully as Alex followed up with “We know” in a simple tone which provoked light laughter amongst the three as they waited for the others to arrive.
Meanwhile back at y/n’s house, they had just finished their lyric writing session and they’re now getting ready to head to Julies for the party, but y/n doesn’t know that's the real reason. “Are you sure your dad doesn’t mind having me over for food?...” Y/n spoke with a little stutter to him, he didn’t want to impose on their family dinner that he believed they were going to. “Yes!~ of course y/n, we all want you there!” Julie spoke trying to keep up with this charade of lies. But then Julie noticed the clothes y/n was going to wear… they were a bit out of theme for what they were going to celebrate, too casual. “No!- i mean…” she scurried through y/n’s closet to find a nice long-sleeve button up and some jeans that would make him look more party-ready. “I saw these in your closet earlier and I figured you’d look great in these” she tried to come up with an excuse as to why her best friend should change out of the clothes he was currently wearing. Though y/n doesn’t like to question others, her yelling ‘no’ earlier caught him off guard as he was majorly confused. “I uhh… sure…” He gently took the clothing from Julie with a hint of skepticism in his eyes.
“I’ll wait for you outside!” Julie states implying she’ll wait out the front door whilst y/n got changed. She was aware that he wouldn’t want her around whilst doing so not only out of respect but for personal reasons that y/n wouldn’t want to get into. “What is up with her today?” y/n asked himself as Julie left the room. He shrugged it off even though it seemed like she was walking on eggshells around him, he thought maybe she was hiding something, but nevertheless he got changed into his newly suggested clothes and headed out of the house. “OoOo Looking good y/n!” Julie teased lightly as she nudged him gently with her elbow, that provoked y/n’s face to become a little flustered as compliments didn't come easy to him. “Lets get a move on then… I wouldn’t want to be late” y/n spoke trying to change the conversation and move on. They both started to make their way to Julie's house.
And now the sun was setting on their travel to Julie’s, y/n was driving them so it didn’t take too long until they were parked outside the house. “C’mon lets head in” Julie states excitedly which confused y/n a little as he thought ‘whats so exciting about family dinner’ though he reckoned it's something he wouldn’t understand at all. As he got out of the car he noticed Julie walking to the garage which made everything even more confusing. “Uhhh… Jules…” y/n started to tell her that her own front door wasn’t over there, but he paused being too shy to finish his sentence. “Hm?” Julie looked back with a tilted head clearly confident in what she was doing. “Ah… nevermind” y/n spoke, fiddling with his car keys as he followed Julie.
“Guys! They’re nearly here” Luke whispered as they turned off all the lights as Flynn ran in almost late. “C’mon!” he rushed Flynn as she hid behind some chair. They were all hidden now as Julie and y/n entered. “Why is it so-” y/n was about to ask why it was so dark but he got interrupted by the lights turning on and everyone bursting out of their hiding spots, releasing party streamers and erupting with the words “SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Y/N!” y/n stood there in shock, almost frozen as he didn’t realise what today was, he took a moment to look around, seeing all the decorations and- the country poster? Reggie must’ve snuck into the background. “I- uhh, what is all this…” y/n grew really embarrassed as he looked at his phone and noticed the date, he had only just realised it was his birthday. Music started playing from the old CD player in the garage, a mix of all of y/n’s favourite music burnt onto a CD. “Your birthday of course” Luke spoke with a wide grin as he wrapped an arm around y/n’s shoulder and directed him to a table which had some of y/n’s favourite snacks and food. Alongside it a few gifts from the others.
“You… You guys remembered…” y/n spoke quietly into Luke's shoulder as he was being held by his arm near the table. A single tear fell down y/n’s face which caused Luke to flinch a little, having not expected this kind of reaction. “Ah! I’m Sorry! Is it too much? I knew it was too much and reggie i’m gonna rip that poster-” Luke spoke fast clearly stressed a little before being paused by y/n speaking “no… it’s just” y/n grew pretty flustered, it was clear he was turning into a tomato. “People usually forget my birthday… including my family”
Julie heard this and thought for a moment, she never noticed how y/n’s house wasn’t decorated with any birthday supplies or anything, in-fact not even a cake. “Yeah they don’t… he’s not lying” Julie spoke rather sympathetically having just realised this. “Well if that's the case!” Luke states as he picked up one of the presents which was from Reggie in a little bag. “What a better time than to celebrate it with your favourite people” Luke spoke in a self egotistical way, knowing that he was one of y/n’s favourite people. y/n noticed this and grew more embarrassed taking Reggie’s gift from Luke and opening it. “A-... harmonica?” y/n looked at it and couldn’t help but giggle slightly at the gift. Luke moved his arm off of y/n so he could play it a little. Upon hearing him play Reggie joked to Luke “at least you know he’s good with his mouth.” This caused Luke to slap Reggie on the back of his head, now wondering what the mouth could do to loosen him up, it made him a little riled up so he moved a chair nearby to sit in it and cover his lap with a pillow with a pout on his face.
Reggie applauded y/n as he finished playing the harmonica “hell yeah y/n! Maybe now you can help me with my country music” this suggestion caused a cascade of eyerolls across the entire room but y/n who found it rather amusing. “Maybe…” y/n responded before looking over a Luke sitting down a bit confused as to why he was sitting with that cute little pout on his face which he adores so much.
“Oh! My turn!” Alex states as he moves to give y/n his gift “... well I should say our turn” he states as he rubs the back of his head, indicating that it was a joint gift from both Alex and Julie. Y/n opens it slowly to notice that there’s a book inside and the pages are… blank? “Hm?” he questioned it slightly, there were many pages of this small book that he could easily carry around with him anywhere. “We figured you might want something to write your music in…” Julie states as she directed the pages to the front which has written ‘y/n’s own harmony.’ He smiles at this gift. “You’ve helped us a lot over the past year and… we figured we should help you out in starting your own music career someday… maybe with us?” Alex added with a soft smile as y/n shook his head slightly. “I-... i love writing lyrics… but i don’t want to be on stage… just the thought alone is terrifying” y/n nervously spoke with a small smile, looking down at their gift to him. “But maybe I'll help you behind the scenes someday” y/n suggested with little to no confidence in himself.
“Hell yeah! That would be sick y/n!” Luke yelled from the side as he was sitting in the chair that he realised was more comfy than he thought. Y/n couldn’t help but feel more supported and needed around everyone here, much more so than his own family that's for sure. As they were all talking Flynn came in with a birthday cake, though they didn’t do the classic singing and blowing out the candles which is shocking considering most of them are literally a band, they figured it would be too much for y/n…
Then it went silent, Luke looked around and he was alone, alone and still riled up. He wondered where everyone had gone, they must’ve continued the party elsewhere or something, at least that was his thought. He took this opportunity to lower his jeans to reveal his hard and stiff shaft “fuck- i’m so hard…” Luke states as he took a firm yet gentle grip and started pulling up and down on it, biting his lower lip, thinking about y/n and that mouth of his. He lifts his legs and spreads them, using his spite to wetten his free fingers to start teasing his own hole imagining y/n’s tongue against it making it wet. “Oh! y/n!~” he let out a moan of pleasure as he continued to tease and loosen his own hole whilst rubbing his throbbing dick up and down. Then all of a sudden a door creeks open.
“Hey i forgot my key-... s” y/n entered the garage having forgotten his keys earlier, his face turned beetroot red at the sight of Luke with his legs in the air and everything fully exposed, he wouldn’t admit how hot it looked, he was too embarrassed “ah- i’m so sorry!” y/n started to hurriedly leave before being stopped by like grabbing him and taking him to the sofa. Pushing him lightly to sit down. Luke then sat on y/n’s lap whilst fully exposed. “It’s okay y/n… maybe this could be my gift to you” He smirked as he moved his hips, grinding bare on y/n’s fully clothed lap. “Ah wait-” y/n squirmed a bit before having his lips covered by Luke's hand. “Shhh just relax and enjoy my love~” he leans in to start kissing y/n’s neck slowly, causing little pockets of gasps to leave y/n’s mouth. “Do you like that?” Luke asked as he then sped up the kissing, leaving little hickeys on his neck as Luke's hands wandered down to y/n’s pants and started taking them off, lifting himself to do so.
When he got the pants fully off he stared at y/n’s member hungrily with a ghostly smirk on his face. “Don’t resist… let me help you with that” he states as he moves off y/n’s lap onto his knees on the floor in front of him, leaning over y/n’s legs on the sofa to then fully take y/n’s throbbing cock in his mouth. He worked his way up and down every inch of his shaft not leaving any part unattended as he also lightly massages his balls for extra pleasure. This added pleasure caused y/n’s thighs to tense up around Luke for a moment, Luke found his weak-spot and kept playing with it. “W-wait stop that so-” Y/n couldn’t even form complete sentences in his hot and bothered state, he couldn’t do anything but just let this happen, he loved it deep down. But not as much as Luke appears to be. Luke slowly took y/n’s hard cock out of his mouth as he positioned himself back on top of y/n’s lap.
“Are you ready for your main gift?” he asked y/n as he nodded timidly, almost asking to be inside of Luke as y/n’s face was a mess with how flustered he was. Luke let out a seductive chuckle as he teased y/n with his hole, pressing it up against y/n’s member before starting to take it in. “f-fuck it’s so… big~” Luke let out groans and moans as he felt every inch of y’n’s thick veiny cock enter him, it was better than anything he had imagined before he was obsessed with this feeling, he could get used to this. “A-ah!~” y/n let out loud moans as he could feel how tight Luke was as Luke started to pick up the pace, unable to control himself on y/n. “H-hang on wait I'm gonna!… Luke… Luke!”
“Luke!” Luke’s eyes shot open as he looked around the garage. Everyone was still here as the voice came from y/n. “You fell asleep…” y/n spoke timidly with a piece of cake in hand. Luke’s eyebrows furrowed as he started to pout, having realised his sexual encounter was just a sexual fantasy in his dream. He wished y/n was touching his cake and not the actual cake. “Oh! Sorry… i must’ve been exhausted from planning everything…” Luke admits as he rubs the back of his neck, lightly taking the paper plate to have his own slice of the birthday cake. “Yeah… he was up all last night planning all of this” Alex added to which y/n’s embarrassment grew. “Ah! I see…”
“But now, I know the perfect gift for you y/n!” Luke spoke with a cheeky grin as he looked at y/n. “Hm?” y/n looked confused as they then innocently went on with their birthday celebrations with y/n having no idea what was about to happen once the party ended.

MASTERLIST
You had caught Luke's eye as soon as he stepped out onto the floor. Many people flaunting and going amidst their night caught his attention. He felt that he and the guys were a little underdressed for the fancy club, but it had been your appearance alone that had you catching their eyes like flies. They were drawn to you in particular. Luke most of all, couldn't sway where his sights were directed towards.
"Hey boys, I'll be right back." He made to move past Reggie, his hand on his chest in passing but was stopped when Willie intersected him. Luke looked down at the hand that Willie pressed against his chest. He scoffed in amusement. "Where's the fire?"
"N-Nowhere, but there could be. I wouldn't recommend it. Not her. Y/n isn't someone you just go up and talk to." Willie's face fell with fear.
"Oh yeah, why's that? Is she important or something?" Luke laughed, but Willie wasn't finding his advances towards you hilarious. "She off-bounds?"
"Yeah, yeah, she is in fact," Willie said nervously. After taking notice of Willie's shift in tone when he spoke of you, Luke's eyebrows furrowed with curiosity.
"What are you getting at, Willie? You seem protective." Luke questioned as he put two and two together. He was almost certain that Alex was Willie's crush, he didn't take him to swing both ways or had he simply misread him, that and the way he reacted just now…it seemed unprecedented. "I thought you liked Alex?" Luke crossed his arms.
"I do—It's not like that. Just promise me you won't approach her. I wouldn't want anything to happen to you guys." Willie pleads.
Luke couldn't help but raise a brow, Willie was acting like she was some sort of monster. "A heartbreaker then, that's okay Willie. I've had my fair share of girls like her." He smiled boyishly. He reached up to slap Willie on his upper arm in reassurance. "Nothing's going to happen." Luke shrugged off Willie. Willie was being dramatic. The interest of doing something irrational intrigued him like a child who was told to not play with fire.
"Luke, I mean it. She's not even a regular. You won't see her that much. She's only ever here on business."
"Only ever here for business, huh?" Luke repeated curiously with an eyebrow up. "Then why can't I talk to her? What's gonna happen, Willie?" Luke wasn't one for following orders, that was not in his nature. He couldn't stand being told what not to do, it only made him crave what he wasn't meant to have or do even more. So, it was no mistake that Willie had made one just now. This little curiosity of Luke's was going to get the best of him. The way Willie made it sound like you did some kind of illicit activity intrigued him even more. "What, does she work for the mob or something?" He said half-jokingly with a brow lift. It was only natural to be enticed by a beautiful woman whom people were being tight-lipped about, it only made you seem more interesting and willing to know more about in his books.
"N-Nothing good." He muttered softly. "Why don't I show you guys to your table?"
"Yes, please!" Alex raised a finger, eager to move past Willie's sudden fear-stricken face.
"You guys go ahead. I'll be right back." Luke finally did move past Reggie and began making his way over to you.
"Luke, I wouldn't!" Willie exclaimed.
"I'm just gonna say hi." He turned to walk backwards as he faced him with a cheeky smile. Then turned as he approached the empty bar, beside you and the bartender giving you your drinks with shaky hands. That had him raising his brows with interest.
-
"Hi Marcus, long time no see." You flashed the man with a sweet smirk. Marcus's smile fell upon the realization you were sitting before the bar. He stopped cleaning the glass in his hands letting it fall to the ground with a smash. He winced at the sound of it breaking. He remained composed as your smile didn't let up. You were the mere image of innocence, you conjured up the identity of a teenage girl this time around. Last year you looked older, dressed up as a woman in a black dress, but this by far was his least favorite one on you, your childlike nature and appearance was scaring him shitless. Your soul was pure rotten, you by no means represented youth and innocence.
"Y/n." He dipped his head in greetings.
"I see Caleb still keeps you around." You tilted your head.
Because he knows I can keep you tranquil. He wanted to say but opted not to. "I'm the only one who can make a dirty cocktail." He lets out nervously.
"That you can, sweetie. Though I'm more in the mood for something sweet tonight, like you." You poke his sternum. Your sweet angelic laughter unsettles him, but he laughs along with you. Knowing Caleb would have his soul again if he made you angry.
"Perhaps a living soul?" He offered with a timid smile.
"Hell no, Lucifer knows I deal with too many of them back home as it is. Why on earth would I waste my time on one tonight? Though you do have a fair amount of them tonight..." You hum surveying the floor. You turned back to the bar. "How about a slushy, make it strong, and fruity." You order.
"So you're not here to collect a soul?"
"I have other matters to tend to Marcus. I've been getting screwed over you see. My bargain with your showman has not been followed down to the last letter, and I am not happy Marcus." You sigh. "I mean how stupid does Caleb peg me? Stealing souls from me." Your laughter darkens with every word that escapes you. "I am a woman of business, and I don't see my need to be tethered to one so insidious. You understand, Marcus?"
Marcus nods furiously. "Where's Willie? As of now, he's my new eyes and ears. Caleb still has his soul right? Of course he does that's how he controls you all. If this gets out to Caleb sweetie, I'll be the one to devour that pure soul of yours." You raise a brow in question gesturing to his chest. Marcus nods and snaps his fingers. Your requested drink appearing before you. You raised the glass to your lips and let your shoulders drop. "This is why I love you, Marcus."
"Am I no longer your eyes and ears?"
"No." You could see Marcus's disappointment flash in his eyes. "You've been upgraded to my personal assistant."
Marcus felt honored. "Oh wow. Does this mean I don't have to be behind the bar anymore?"
"Only when we come to the club, but other than that..." You snap your fingers nonchalantly. Caleb's stupid stamp floated off of Marcus's wrist. The poor man looked as though he'd cry.
He did.
"Consider it a gift, sweetie. That's all you're gonna get...really." You shrug. You didn't like getting too sentimental with others. Marcus palmed his mouth. Covering it to muffle his cries. You looked around hopefully no one was watching the scene unfold before you. You shrink in your stool and take another sip of your drink. You took another gulp of your drink, enjoying the flavor it had, it was indeed what you had asked for.
"Marcus." You called his name softly when the tears finally stopped flowing. "Look at me." Marcus's head raised and eyes widened with fear once again. "Stop, please."
"S-Sorry. I'm good, I'm good." You nodded with him, your eyes widened with concern. "Thank you..." He muttered softly.
"Sure." You laughed out nervously wanting his hands off you. “Marcus.” You spoke sternly this time which brought him to pay attention and made him stop touching you. “How about another drink, yeah.” You shifted the mood, hoping to reassure him by taking his mind off of being freed by you. "Surprise me this time."
"Yes–Yes, right away." He composed himself as best he could and began to make your new drink.
Luke's gaze was fixated on the bartender's shaky hands, having caught the last of your conversation with him before he grew close. It was something that caught his attention to no end. A burning hole in his brain as he wondered why you had such an effect on people, good and bad. He wanted to know more about you. So he sat on the stool right beside you.
He turned towards you; his hands were resting on the counter, as he tapped along to the melody playing throughout the club. Luke's gaze met yours, raising a brow as he took notice that you were eyeing him. It made him a little self-conscious, but he hid that fact with an amused smirk.
"Nice shoes." His grin brightened. "I'm more of a vans guy myself but I think it's time I make a drastic brand change." Luke turned in the stool, next to the very pretty girl, who looked completely out of place. Your leather jacket and dark blue denim, not to mention your incredibly red shoes, didn't fit the club's dress code.
You peered over the glass in your hand. Your eyes narrowed curiously at the curly-haired stranger who unashamedly sat in the vacant seat next to yours. Surely he had to be pulling your hair. When you saw no falter in his charming smile, you played along. Hoping to amuse the poor lad unaware of the person you were, of your identity. Most would cower at the sight of you but his lack of knowledge told you all you needed to. He was clueless...and a pretty sight. You set your drink down and smirk, turning your full self towards him.
"Thanks. I had them dyed with the blood of the damned." You stuck your leg out, tilting your head in admiration of your shoes.
Your brows pinched closer together upon his laugh. You were confused by his reaction, what had been so funny? You were being your most sincere.
He snickered again, trying hard not to laugh, in fear of offending you. He let out another brief laugh, trying his best not to lose it. It was the way your words so casually rolled off your tongue that got him. He smirked. "Damned you say. Does that mean that you had to damn them yourself or were they already damned and you just decided to take advantage of the opportunity." He joked around, though curiosity filled his mind as he wondered what your answer would be. He sure wasn't expecting your sweet angelic tune that escaped you as a response. Your head fell back. Marcus stilled, looking at the new stranger who caused such a reaction from you and then at you. Was this a stroke you were having and he was completely unaware? He opted to join in, his fake laughs weren't noticed by you luckily.
He eyed Luke as though he put the moon in the sky. He got you to laugh. Completely unheard of.
Luke felt satisfied. His grin widened as he softly joined in on your bubbled display of joy. "I mean they do make killer shoes. I kind of want some now." He shrugged with half interest.
Marcus finally released a stifled laugh. The poor man was holding it in, not knowing where you two would take the conversation. "I can't say I've ever had the urge to wear shoes made of human blood," He spoke in an attempt to keep the energy at bay.
"Well," Luke started, "they're rather fashionable, right? I mean, I know leather clothing is still in style, you're perfectly on top of that trend already." He joked back casually. You felt something strange in your chest as he raked his eyes up and down your entirety. "All I'd be missing is the shoes..." He bit his lip.
"Yeah?" You looked back at him amused. "You want a pair?"
"Why not?" He entertained the idea.
What is happening? Marcus mouthed in shock.
What was happening indeed? Didn't he know who you were? His lack of fear was the most shocking part of this whole interaction. Surely he wasn't one of Caleb's newest edition of collected ghosts. Another soul he had taken, or made Willie lure him in to take it while he's blindsighted by the pretty picture Caleb paints for him. For once you wanted to lay your claim on a soul. To rub it in Caleb's face for stealing your portion of the bargain. You extended your hand out to him and asked him what any wise girl would do. You asked for his name.
"I'm Luke." He took your hand gently. Unaware of the marking you placed under his skin. Your bargains, your markings, were more subtle than Caleb's, where he wanted to show them off, you kept yours hidden behind a mere handshake. Along with the idea of never actually telling them you had done so.
"Pleasure." Your grip on his hand remained firm and tight as your eyes searched his own. You could already envision Caleb brewing with envy once he sees you and Luke engaging in a friendly, and dare you say romantic conversation. Luke didn't appear to know the full truth of what was going on. He appeared to be so blindly curious and unaware. So you went ahead and lit a spark to that curiosity as you pressed a finger to the back of his hand, caressing the length of it.
"Luke," you said slowly, testing it out. The name sounded nice; it rolled off your tongue perfectly. Luke, Luke, Luke. He would be your plaything for tonight, perhaps another time as well should you choose to extend that privilege. You felt a tinge of regret for marking a soul as pure as his, you could feel his warmth the second he sat down, but that was soon washed away with his charming grin; it made you want to make him break his moral barriers all the more. He seemed so different from the others, he was your next perfect leverage on Caleb. "I'm Y/n." You leaned forward, Luke's eyes falling in a daze at your sultry voice and doe eyes.
"Y/n..." He breathed out, mesmerized.
"Marcus I want a private space." You turned to the poor lad who was still stunned that this one guy alone was able to sweeten you down like honey. Get on your good side in the blink of an eye. "Now!"

Willie had paced back and forth, going over what he would say to Caleb as he waited for him at the bottom steps of his dressing room. When the man of the hour finally descended the steps Willied perked up.
"Oh hey um, Caleb." He smiled. "I brought those ghosts I met, um it's still cool they're here right?"
"Of course William! I even reserved a special table for them." Caleb shrugged him off nonchalantly.
"Woah! Uh alright, um thank you!" Willie reeled back, not expecting him to do something so nice.
"No, no, thank you!" Caleb sipped at his tea and watched as Willie made his way to leave but turned the wrong way.
"That way!" Willie laughed as he turned to go in the right direction this time.
"Hey William, while I have you here. Make sure to let me know when Y/n has arrived. I need at least half an hour to ready myself before her arrival."
"Oh, Y/n? She's already here." Willie shook his head confused, hadn't he known?
Certainly not, it appeared.
"What!" Caleb screeched, making Willie to flinch. The cup in his hands clattered onto the steps. Willie shrunk in on himself as Caleb berated him. "You useless monkey, why do I even keep you around? Oh my god, I'm not even dressed. Quick go make sure she gets everything she wants. Hopefully not my soul...Whatever she wants give it to her. A lifer's soul, it's hers. I don't care. I need to go look presentable. Go!" Willie straightened out as he walked away from Caleb's dressing room with haste. Caleb ordered staff to make sure you remained in a good mood. He was late, you had been earlier than expected and he was about to lose his shit.
-
When Caleb dispersed from the dancers and band, you had rolled your eyes as he made his entrance past the golden curtain.
He gulped nervously when his eyes danced back and forth between you sitting back on the sofa, and Luke kissing down your neck like a lovesick puppy. You hadn't stopped his attack on your skin. Caleb straightened out, clearly his throat to make his presence known.
"I don't like being kept waiting, Caleb, I have better things to do." Your voice broke in soft breaths as Luke found your sweet spot.
"Y/n, nice to have you back my sweet. We've missed your presence at the club and I-"
"Don't patronize me, ghost." You rolled your head back against the cushion.
"Ah, I see you've found our special guest of the night." He laughed nervously. "Have we bored you already, the night has only just begun." Caleb was thankful he didn't have to find you in a much more compromising situation. As he watched your hand run through Luke’s hair, a pang of emotion rose in him, jealousy? Anger? Regret? He felt his emotions bubble over as he watched Luke's lips meet your collarbones, his hands running down your back to your waist. Caleb bit his lip to keep an audible curse from escaping his lips.
You smirked, he was lucky that Luke wasn't getting too ahead of himself, but seeing how things were playing out at the moment it wouldn't take much for Luke to slip. Your attention turned back to him once Luke's lips had moved elsewhere on your body.
"Caleb, how stupid do you think I am?" Your question had caught him off guard.
He was speechless for a few moments before he regained his composure. He laughed a bit in your face. "Y/n, it's obvious," He took a deep, shaky breath before continuing. "He's a soul I promised to you in our deal. I got two more waiting on you out on the floor."
Luke's head dropped lower to your chest, his kisses stooping lower down your blouse. Caleb's eyes narrowed at the sight.
"Luke's already mine." You sigh in contentment. "I meant about the souls you’re taking for yourself, Caleb."
"What of them?" Caleb's face remained emotionless. He kept his arms crossed while your head was nuzzled into Luke's neck, you were barely holding on to the conversation while your chest had been preoccupied with Luke's hot breaths. His hands slide up and down your body.
"You can't even deny you've broken our bargain." You reminded him, your mind clouded with the sensation of his kisses. "You know what happens when people cross me, Caleb." You giggled as your breath hitched with every word spoken. You placed a hand over Luke's curls to stop him from continuing his kisses down your torso, his lips rested on your chest instead.
"Surely, we can work something out." He begins softly.
"I don't think so." You spoke plainly, your eyes finally focusing on Caleb. Your hands placed on the back of the sofa, you were feeling a bit confident and sassy, something Caleb hadn't seen for a good while, not with him at least. You sit up causing Luke to fall off you. You grip his chin gently and turn his face towards Caleb. You watch as the ghost shrinks back into the shell of the man that he is as Luke's gorgeous brown eyes flash red at him.
You staked your claim on him. "You touch the other two, and this all goes away." You gesture to the room, to the entirety of the club. "I’m going to need Willie's soul by the strike of midnight. Poor thing needs a break from you seeing as you can't do your job properly. He's mine until I say so. You understand, Caleb." You recline back into the cushion.
"Yes ma'am." He nods, feeling like a child being scolded.
"You can see yourself out now. It's like you said the night is only getting started." Your angelic laugh is one for his nightmares. Not to mention your red eyes. You hold his gaze as you push down on Luke's curls, his body sinking to the carpet before you. "You might not want to stay around for this next part Caleb. Wouldn't want to traumatize you as it is." Caleb gasps and turns in place of the sound of your zipper being pulled.
Caleb's jaw went slack. His head tilted to the side. He tried hard to hide his surprise, but he wasn't sure what he should have said in this occurrence. "Right… I will be leaving. Enjoy yourselves." He uttered stiffly. Caleb retreated out of the room.
Luke's warm hands gripped your thighs, squeezing them slightly. His lips moved back up to your neck. His fingertips trailed lightly along your collarbone, his breath hot, you could feel his blood rushing. Once you were sure Caleb was out of earshot you pulled Luke up by the collar of his shirt.
"What's wrong?" Luke's dazed-out look had you feeling a smidge of guilt. "I thought we were having fun?" He breathed out a laugh as he tried to lean in to kiss you.
"It's not that kind of business, baby. Another time." You gripped his chin and sweetly placed a kiss on his lips.
A/N: I’m so back baby. I wrote this just as a little “how we doing on tumblr after being gone for two years?” gift to you and myself. I don’t know how much I’m going to write, or if I’m going to keep writing for JATP (or if people are still reading for JATP), but this went into my head about and I needed to get it out

MASTER
---
The room was quiet in a way that Luke wasn’t used to. The usual instruments and lyrics, screams and humming that fill his typical days were gone. Now it was just the soft sounds of breathing that fill his ears. Your breathing. It floats in the air different than the music does, pairing with the soft creak of his mattress as he shifts closer to you. He’s stretched out beside you, shoulder to shoulder, staring at the ceiling.
His usual desire to fill the silence with noise and music was gone. This silence was his to keep.
“Hey.” Your soft voice doesn’t break the silence but sits in it. His head turns to see the sleepy smile sitting on your face, which was smushed against a pillow. His lips quirk up. “What’s on your mind?”
Luke thinks, blinking as he looks at you before saying a simple, “Nothing.” It was the truth, too. He was just lying here, next to you, and his mind was doing nothing. He rolls over onto his side, just enough to be closer to you. His hand finds yours, like it always does.
His fingers thread through yours, his thumb grazing the back of your hand, but his eyes never leave yours. “Tired?” He whispers.
You let out a small laugh and nod. “Just a little. Long day.” Your voice matched his. He knew what you were talking about. He had a concert tonight and you had spent all day by his side as he practiced with his band. It was loud and fun and exciting. A far different experience than currently, and yet, as you both remained in your bed, your fairy lights serving as the only light source in this dim room, shining on your face, Luke has never truly felt happier.
You shift, pulling him from his quiet thoughts once again as you slip into his side, his hand still in yours. He pulls you close, your head rests on his chest and the soft, steady rhythm of his heart echoes softly in your ear. It might just be your favorite sound.
A heavy beat. Then another. His lips land on the top of your head before he’s whispering your name. “Can I say something weird?”
You hum in response, turning up to look at him. “Always.”
He exhales, long and slow. He can’t look at you. “Sometimes the silence freaks me out.” He says with a laugh under his breath and for a moment, you think you should laugh too, like he was making a joke. But he wasn’t. “It feels like…” He trails off, struggling to put his thoughts into words. “Well, it feels like when everything goes still, I’m waiting for something to disappear.” He closes his eyes and his heartbeat skips as he inhales quickly. “I like things loud, it reminds me that things are still here, that I’m still here. But the silence,” he shakes his head slowly, “This. You. It’s— It’s calm, and it’s steady, but it’s… it’s terrifying.”
You stay looking at him. “Why?”
“Because if I lose this,” he starts before he turns to look down at you. He reaches up, brushing a strand of your hair out of your face, “I don’t know if I know how to be quiet without you.”
You don’t rush to answer. Your eyes prickle just a little, but you move closer to him, pressing your forehead to his as you both close your eyes. “You don’t have to be loud for me.” You whisper. “You never did.”
Something in Luke softens completely. He remembers his parents saying years ago that if you loved someone, you should show it to them in ways everyone could see, as loud as you could be. But that wasn’t true.
To be loved isn’t to be loud. To be loved is to be seen.
And you’ve always seen him.
Luke swallows, his throat tightens for just a second. He doesn’t trust his voice as his grip on your hand gets more desperate. It was just a little, like he was afraid he’d slip right through your fingers if he wasn’t careful enough.
“I know.” He barely manages to say, more to himself than to you.
Your smile was soft, causing your eyes to close from your tiredness. You lay your head down again, tucked in the crook of his shoulder and neck. His arm moves with no hesitation, wrapping around you to pull you closer. His lips find their way to your shoulder, one of his hands is still in yours as it traces small patterns.
Your breathing evens out before his does. He can feel the moment it happens. Your breathing fans across the skin of his neck, your weight settles more on him, completely trusting. He adjusts the blankets over you carefully, as if the moment is something so fragile that he doesn’t want to disturb.
He thinks, again, how he should be terrified of the silence.
He isn’t.

desc luke didnt know you could sing after years of being your best friend
wc - 1.8k
warnings slight cursing, fluff, grammar, not proof read
the door krept open as you got home from school, tossing your grey messy laced converse off of your ankles and sludging your backpack off one of your shoulders and onto the floor.
it was 4:09 pm, you had nothing to do besides an english paper. but that could be done later.
you walk across the kitchen to sit on top of the counter, your nike women's dry-fit socks dangling as you thought about something, anything to do.
reggie and alex were out making flyers for their upcoming band gig on friday, while your best friend luke was probably somewhere in your guest house messing with your dads old music equipment and speakers you had gotten out of some dusty boxes for him a few weeks ago.
what was there to do?
you make a raspberry with your lips.
laundry...done. homework..ish, done. rooms clean...dad didn't get home until 10...
you stare at your mom's piano in the crevice of a large indent in a wall as you hear the air conditioner buzz softly.
the house was dead silent. no one was home.
for some reason, your hands begin to shake and your throat closes up staring at the white keys and grand black figure just sitting feet away, almost feeling like an old friend waiting for you to come back to it again.
after years.
this was the longest you had ever beared to look at it before.
the blank truth was you had completely disregarded the thought of ever playing any musical instrument ever again after your mom had died of cancer four years ago.
especially the piano. especially singing.
it was all the things you and your mom had cherished with each other. everytime you tried to even look at it. all that could replay in the back of your mind was your five-year-old self playing and singing along to "i love you baby", with your mother and you giggling with her.
what was so wrong about it? that you couldn't have that same feeling anymore? you didn't know.
it just hurt. all of it did.
over the years you had become slightly jealous of luke, reggie, and alex for being able to enjoy music like it was a second nature. maybe thats because it used to be yours, too, and your love for music had been taken away. and you felt like you could never get it back.
luke never knew about your passion for music. neither did alex, or reggie. sure, luke had watched you play with your mom as a kid but he never knew that you had the same thriving passion of music that made you feel alive like he did also.
everytime he tried to get you to sing along to one of the songs he had wrote with reggie you just shrugged it off, letting them sing.
because when your mom died, music died too.
in fact, luke had never heard you sing before. not even in the car, the shower, nothing.
but would this be what your mother had wanted? never even singing on the radio just because of memories?
if you were honest, you hadn't been the same person when you gave up music. If you were even more honest, you felt a hole without it.
you decided to get off the counter and slowly creep over to just....look.
not play, of course, no.
just...looking.
just...sitting down at your mom's favorite stool..
just..looking at the keys..
just..feeling them..
breathing...
you flinch when you accidentally hit a note with your finger.
your heart immediately starts pumping and you feel your stomach sink.
technically, you did just...play.
so, technically, accidentally, you could just play another...
on purpose, this time, you press a note, taking in the sound of a piano again like it was something completely new.
again, maybe? just once.
you start to play a few chords, trying to dig back in your brain four years.
you remember of a song called "forever", written by you. when you were 14. a month before your mom passed.
after playing the chords a few times, it comes flooding back to you like a sudden tidal wave.
you start playing them in order, now, and start singing your lyrics.
tears fall down your cheeks and onto the keys as you play the whole song through, singing the chorus, the verse..
you lean back slightly, holding your hands to your chest with a sniffle.
you wipe your eyes, but then jump at the sudden touch of a hand on your shoulder.
you whip your head around, quickly backing away from the stool.
"what the hell!" you gasp, but then realize who it was.
it was luke standing in front of you, now. his expression completely shocked.
it was silent, the only sounds was you trying to catch your breath.
his mouth was practically on the floor.
"y/n l/n."
you swallow, "yeah."
"what the fu-"
you cut him off, and play dumb, "what? i was just-"
you turn your head slightly to look at the piano behind you and then back to him.
"i was just like, messing around, i dunno, it was like- something i came up with..like..uhm..."
"i-i have so many questions." he scoffs, "first, okay? why in the honey bunches of fuck did you never tell me you could...you could..sing like that?"
you take a breath to answer, but he keeps going.
"two." he puts his hands to the back of his head, "since when could you play the piano? what song was that? was it yours? your moms? is this why you've never sang before? why-"
"luke, it-its complicated. i-" you take a breath out and shake your head, "i wrote it when i was 14. secretly. kind of before my mom died."
"why didn't you tell me you could write music?" he almost sounds offended.
"i dont know-- at the time you hadn't even started your band with reggie and alex yet, and that was like..your thing, and i just couldn't handle doing music again!" tears filled the bottom of your eyes as you tried to explain.
he steps towards you, wrapping his strong arms around you, caressing the back of your head as he holds it so his chest, stroking it with his thumb gently.
"shhh, sh. you don't have to explain anymore." his voice is gentle and warm. "i get it. but, music isn't something i own, okay? i wish you would have told me earlier, and i dont know how i didnt notice this before."
a sob accidentally escapes into his chest, and luke feels his heart slowly sink into the floor. he was a tough guy, but he would always let his guard down for you.
he rubs your back in comforting circles, "its okay, yeah? this is a good thing. its a great thing."
he tucks your hair behind your ear, looking down at you as you look up at him with swollen eyes and a slightly runny nose, luke speaking to you in a low and comforting voice. "you are so beyond talented. You know what im thinking?"
you shake your head softly, with a small sniffle.
"you need to be our singer for the band." he looks at you and titls his head like he already knows what you're going to say. "n' before you say no, think about it. you could do it in honor of your mom? y/n, look at you. you have crazy chemistry with a song you haven't even tried playing in years. you could play your keyboard? its waiting for you in the guest house. It would be practically wasting this amazing gift you have. and i cant let you do that. you know it, too."
"luke-" you almost whimper from the thought of playing music...all of the time. not just when you had sudden courage, like..all the time.
"please." he begs, "you dont have to decide or anything right now...just..think about it?" he looks down at you with those same eyes. "for me?" he bites his lower lip with a small smile.
"fine." you barely say. he almost jumps from excitement and hisses in victory before putting his hands on your shoulders and looks at you in the eyes. "you wont regret it."
"luke, what if-" you stop. "what if i fail? like, im not as good as i used to be? i havent even tried writing songs again-"
"from what i heard today? the like, one minute of you just...singing, and playing, was-- like, crazy good and thats more than what regs and alex and i could ever even dream of." he smiles, his dimples peaking out like a deer in headlights, "it would be totally awesome if you could join our band. Like an honor."
as you look at him speak you bite your lips nervously, and let out a shaky "okay."
he towers over you, taking a step closer and looking in both of your eyes, you could feel his warm breath dripping down your neck.
there was a silence as you look into both of his eyes back, smiling back slightly
"there's that smile."
he leans in slightly, you breathing out, and then looking down as your tone becomes quieter.
"we shouldn't do this." you whisper.
he makes you look at him by putting his finger under your chin.
"we definitely shouldn't do this." he breathes, trying not to smile.
"definitely." you say, him matching your expression.
"definitely." his breath catches in the air.
your lips meet his as he gently backs you into a wall, picking your legs up and holding them with his palms up like a feather.
you feel his warm lips lock against yours over and over.
"y/n," he takes a breath out, finally pulling away making a small click sound from your lips seperating.
"yeah?" you gasp for air.
"i love you." he chokes on his words, "i know its soon. i know. you dont have to say it back." he swallows. "i just thought you should know. n' like - its totally cool if-"
"i love you too, luke."
his eyes meet yours again, this time his eyebrows slightly furrowed, "for real?" a smile quickly creeps up on his face.
you gently nod your head as he kisses your lips again once more.
"i-i dont know its like- when i saw you playing, and- it was just-" he pauses, laughing and shaking his head.
"you're so talented. so real. like, down to it, real."
he looks at you with his soft eyes, kissing your forehead.
"your hole's filled now, y/n."
your eyes widen in surpise, "how did you--"
he rolls his eyes and tuts, "cm'on, seriously? i know you better than you know you."
a little smile appears on your face. it really was him all along. he knew after you played again you got the spark in your eyes back that you had when you met him and you were now the same girl he fell in love with all over again since he was ten.
he runs his thumb over your jaw. "that spark, right here?" he puts his hand off your chin and presses a fist gently to your rib. "right there."

summary: you're waiting for Julie in her garage while you play bass alone, until Reggie shows up and is amazed by you.
genre: fluff
warnings: nonee
author's notes: first of all, I just wanted to say I’m REALLY SORRY for taking so long to post your request. I actually just saw it a few days ago, I think my app glitched. Anyway, I hope you like it, and thank you for requesting ♡♡
( ✧ requests open ✧ )
You never really understood how you ended up tangled in that beautiful chaos that was Julie’s life. One day she invited you over to her garage “just to hear her test a few songs,” and the next you were fully wrapped up in her “supernatural” life, staring at three ghost boys.
But of course they weren’t anything like horror-movie hauntings. Far from it — honestly, they were the biggest idiots you’d ever met. Even if you were skeptical at first, with time you learned how to handle them.
And, of course, there was Reggie.
You picked up pretty fast that he was the kind of guy who lit up a room just by existing. Easy smile, a slightly clumsy energy, but in such a sincere way that he could pull a laugh out of you even on a terrible day. He always looked at you from the corner of his eye — he thought he was subtle, but you caught it every time. Julie noticed before everyone else, obviously.
That day, you got to Julie’s house thinking she’d be waiting with that excited smile, already holding her phone with half a dozen lyrics to show you. But the garage was empty, quiet. The light was on and the instruments were scattered the same way as always, but no Julie.
You went up to the door of her house and knocked, called her name, nothing. Apparently her dad and brother weren’t home either.
So you took a breath, shrugged, and went back to the garage. At least you could kill some time playing something. You picked up your bass and sat in the chair next to the drum set. You tuned it quickly, your fingers already falling into place on the strings.
Little by little, the garage filled with sound. You started with a simple bass line just to warm up, but soon you slipped into a stronger groove — the kind that makes you nod your head without even noticing. You let yourself go, closed your eyes, fell into the rhythm like it was the only thing that existed.
And of course, right at that moment, someone showed up.
“Wow…”
His voice caught you off guard. You opened your eyes and there was Reggie, materializing in the middle of the garage like he’d been pulled in by the sound of your bass. His hair a bit messy, his expression completely mesmerized. He looked like he was seeing you for the first time.
“Sorry for interrupting!” he said, embarrassed, scratching the back of his neck with an awkward laugh. “It’s just… I didn’t know you played that well.”
You raised an eyebrow.
“And how did you think I played? Bad?” you teased.
“No! I mean— I didn’t think anything. I just… I didn’t know you played.”
A little smirk slipped out of you, the bass still on your lap, and Reggie looked torn between talking more or running away in pure shame. He opened his mouth, closed it, opened it again — totally flustered, which honestly only made him cuter.
“I… seriously, I’m kind of in shock,” he admitted, running a hand through his hair in that nervous way that gave everything away. “You’re really good. Like… really really good.”
“Thanks,” you answered, trying to sound casual even though your ego was secretly glowing. “But I was just killing time.”
“Killing time?” Reggie laughed, disbelieving. “If that’s you killing time, I can’t imagine you actually focused.”
Reggie came closer slowly, like he was scared of startling you or — even worse — messing up the moment. He stopped a step away, looking at the bass on your lap like it was some divine revelation.
“I should’ve figured,” he murmured, more to himself. “The way you move your fingers when you’re listening to music… it was kind of a clue.”
You made a playful face.
“Reggie, that sounded super stalker-ish.”
His eyes went wide, horrified.
“No! No, no, no! I don’t… watch you. Like… all the time. Just sometimes. I mean—” he slapped a hand to his forehead. “I swear this gets worse every time I say another word.”
You let out a little laugh, and Reggie looked relieved just to see you smile.
He glanced to the side, where his own bass was leaning. That old, worn instrument he treated better than he treated himself.
“You know that…” he started, adjusting his jacket, “I play too, right?”
“Oh, really?” you mocked, crossing your arms. “Never would’ve guessed.”
He laughed, finally relaxing a bit.
“Okay, very funny. But what I’m trying to say is… you play bass, I play bass…”
“And that means…?” you asked, not quite following his train of thought, a smile on your lips.
“…that we’re the coolest ones here. And we could, I don’t know… play together?” he finished, his voice dropping a little, almost shy. “Sometime. No pressure. Only if you want to, obviously.”
You tilted your head, pretending to think really hard about it. Reggie looked at you with those huge eyes, waiting for an answer like his life (or death) depended on it. It was way too cute.
“Alright,” you said at last, shrugging like it was no big deal. “If you want… we can do it now,” you added, turning the bass in your lap and placing your fingers on the strings like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Reggie froze for half a second. Then he broke into that goofy, too-happy-to-hide smile.
“Now? Like… right now?”
“Yeah.” You laughed. “What? You gonna chicken out?”
Something lit up in him. Reggie straightened up, lifted his chin, and grabbed his bass with dramatic flair.
“I don’t chicken out. Okay, sometimes I do… but not now,” he said, trying to act confident and failing in the most adorable way.
You laughed softly, and he shot you a proud smile at having made you laugh.
You played the first notes and Reggie followed. The chemistry was instant — almost absurd. Every time you sped up, he chased after you. It felt like a conversation without words, just the two of you creating something that didn’t exist five minutes ago.
Reggie looked at you every now and then, biting back a smile like he was trying not to lose the beat just because you hit a note way too beautifully. You looked away, but truthfully, you were looking at him too — at his relaxed posture, his focused expression, the way his foot tapped the floor in rhythm.
“Wow…” he muttered in the middle of the song. “This is stupidly cool.”
“Shut up and play,” you said, but you were laughing, and he almost missed the beat.
The rhythm faded naturally, like the sound dissolved on its own, until the last notes vibrated through the garage and the song ended. The silence after wasn’t awkward — it was a good kind of tension.
Reggie lowered his bass slowly, looking at you with a mix of admiration and… something else. Something warmer. Softer.
“You…” he began, taking a step toward you. “You’re… even more amazing than I already thought.”
You let out a short laugh.
“And you’re really dramatic.”
“Maybe,” he admitted, leaning in a bit more. “But it’s true.”
You were face to face now. He was close enough that leaning in felt natural. Too natural. The kind of moment that, in any other universe, would end in a kiss.
And that’s what happened — or almost.
Reggie tilted his head. You did too. Automatic, easy, like breathing. Your eyes dropped to his lips, his did the same. You were inches apart now. Less than that. One breath and it would happen.
But then you both suddenly remembered the inconvenient fact that he was, unfortunately, a ghost.
Reggie stopped a hair away, blinking fast, like he’d been dragged back to reality.
“Oh… crap,” he murmured, and the frustration in his voice was so genuine it made you want to laugh and hug him at the same time. “I… forgot that…”
You took a breath too, adrenaline still tingling in your chest.
“Yeah,” you whispered. “Me too.”
He opened his mouth to say something — probably to embarrass himself or apologize — but he didn’t get the chance.
The garage filled with Alex and Luke’s voices.
“Reggie, dude, you disappeared—” Luke started, then stopped when he saw you two standing there, just a little too close. “Oh.”
Alex frowned, looking between you two.
“Did we interrupt something?”
“No!” you both answered at the same time. Way too fast.
Luke raised his hands.
“Okay, okay, chill. I just came to ask if—”
“She plays bass,” Reggie blurted out, like he was announcing a scientific discovery. “And she’s amazing.”
Luke claimed he already knew, Alex let out an impressed whistle, and all you could do was sigh — half embarrassed, half happy, half trying not to look at Reggie again because you knew you wouldn’t be able to hide anything.
Reggie, of course, was looking right at you.
And that almost-kiss was still hanging in the air.

Everyone was ecstatic. People were jumping, yelling, screaming the lyrics of Sunset Curve's songs. Their concerts were always the one to look forward to, and that's rich coming from you, seeing that you have been in almost all of them.
The fact that your boyfriend was their lead singer and guitarist was just a bonus. Their songs never failed to make someone dance like nobody's watching.
Luke's eye was locked on your as he sings his solo. the stupid smile never wiping off his face.
This interaction made girls close to you scream, thinking he was looking at them, when in fact he was looking at you and you only.
The venue was not that big but the people in the audience were loud enough to think otherwise. The stage was close to the crowd so Luke could walk towards you. eye contact never breaking, he was lost in your eyes and you were lost in his.
He honestly almost forgot the chords he was about to play and you almost forgot you were surrounded by roughly 30 girls.
He starts to walk slowly until he's in front of you. you had to bite your lip to stop you from bursting out laughing by the faces the girls made. their faces fell when he stood right in front of you.
but Reggie and Alex smiled at the utter joy radiating from you guys. From being best friends who completely denied their feelings for each other to not being afraid to show people that you guys were totally head over heels for each other.
When his solo ended, he didn't move an inch from where he stood. You guys continued to stare at each other lovingly, but when Alex beat his drum in a pattern you and Luke knew so much you snapped back to reality.
It was not the first time this happened. Luke has constantly forgotten about performing when you're there. and he wasn't ashamed of it in the tiniest bit.
you broke the stare and looked over luke's shoulder and saw Reggie and Alex giving you the look.
you rolled your eyes playfully and shook luke's shoulder lightly making him snap out of his daze.
"you're still in a show babe." you said to him, slightly yelling over the loud music.
his grin turned upwards even more if that was possible and moved to his original spot. but not before kissing your cheek.
The girl's eyes widen and look at you guys in surprise, jealousy and disgust. The disgust part was directed to you and you only.
but you didn't care. you didn't give two shits about them. your boy was up there doing the thing he loves most and that's all that matters.
Luckily for Luke the song was almost over, and when the lights started to dim, Alex was softly hitting the cymbal indicating the song's end.
"we're sunset curve! tell your friends!`` Reggie said to his mic before they bowed down and ran off stage. more like luke, ran off stage. Reggie, Alex and Bobby just shook their heads and followed after luke.
being faster than luke, you arrived first at the lounge area where they would hang out after a performance.
you were on the couch waiting for your best friends and boyfriend.
the door flung open, revealing a sweaty, grinning luke patterson. his eyes are practically sparkling at the sight of his girlfriend.
"babe!" Luke exclaimed, feeling more than happy to see you.
you stood up smiling at the joyful boy as he jogged towards you lifting you up and spinning you around making you laugh.
The action made you feel like the happiest girl on earth.
he puts you down and leaned his head down, softly connecting his lips with yours.
kissing luke is probably one of your favourite things to do. no matter how much you do it, the butterflies never go away or slow down.
"y/n, you need to stop coming to our shows dude." Bobby said, interrupting the sweet moment.
you and luke's head snapped towards bobby, "what why?" you asked, baffled, kind of offended at how his tone sounded.
"yeah why?" Luke sneered, as he wrapped a protective arm around your waist.
Bobby looked at you both in disbelief. "you're clearly distracting him!" he exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air.
a laugh made its way out of you, as you said, "oohhh."
Reggie and Alex snickered behind Bobby at Luke's face. He looked like he was about to smash a car.
"Relax, Bobby, we figured that out already." Alex assured as he pats Bobby's back.
Reggie sat down at the sofa beside Alex and said, "yeah, if Luke was too distracted, Alex would play an extra beat. it goes like this 'ting tung tung bap' " he said, trying to imitate the sound which made you laugh.
Alex turned to look at Reggie, "exactly." Alex said, clearly impressed at how well he imitated his beat.
"Yeah, it will take a lot to get rid of me." you said, smirking.
"yeah, over my dead body" luke hissed, he's basically shaking from annoyance.
"Chill, I was joking." Bobby panicked, recognising the hostility in Luke's voice. it was the same voice he used on guys who were hitting on you, and he's not even flirting!
you laughed and intertwined your fingers with luke's that was gripping your waist. He instantly calmed at your touch, the familiar feeling made his insides fuzzy.
he looked down at you, to see you're looking up smiling at him, eyes filled with adoration. the boy smiled beforeleaning down, "a pretty damn gorgeous distraction." he muttered before sealing your lips together.
