My dad once made me a Jaws birthday cake. He even hung a swimming Barbie above it. It blew my birthday mind and definitely planted some important seeds for my future. To hold its memory I had a Polaroid pic of it. I was flying from Louisiana with the photo and accidentally left it in a magazine on the plane. Such a loss for me. Today I made a new version and am putting it here in the safe. Clare Crespo

I think I have a bit of a weird view of Jaws since it was already so part of pop culture by the time I came around, and especially since my first (and only) time seeing it was in a film adaptation class in Uni were we had to read the book first, then watch, and compare and contrast*. As a result, it's all just this weird penis metaphor, and a fear of fish in general and sharks in specific in any body of water larger than my bathtub. Also the cake was fun to make. *side note: that phrase will haunt me until the end of my days as I swear it was on every English test since grade 9; MacBeth vs MacDuff compare and contrast, great Gatsby vs. Hamlet compare and contrast, Lord of the Flies vs. Animal Farm compare and contrast, sir Gawain and the Green Knight vs. The Canterbury Tales compare and contrast @.@
