The dice in the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG System provides seven different win/lose states- success with advantage, success, success with disadvantage, null, failure with advantage, failure, and failure with disadvantage. The permutations of this (2 success + 3 advantage or 3 failure + 1 advantage, etc.) are thus able to provide differing levels of completion and competence for each task, without providing a completely static increase in successful rolls. As more advantageous dice are added, the game adds more disadvantageous to harder rolls, but leaves them the same for older rolls.
