I find it interesting how little we know about Lunadeyis and Aster, like, all we know of them is from the perspective of their worshippers and even then all the information is very vague. Like in a world where these gods are pretty much known to exist it’s strange how little they seem to interact with Mana at all. Like we know they give powers to certain people (the ferins, Gillion), and that their respective churches seem pretty sure of certain things about them (they created the world, lunadeyis split the over and undersea etc) but we have no actual sources for that information.

Faye seems to think that the scary sun dreams aren’t just trials but attempts at communication from Aster, and while I think that she may be right about that (although we don’t know if that’s just an assumption on her part or if there’s actually any proof of that) that begs the question Why the FUCK does she need to resort to ominous dreams that might kill you instead of, idk, direct communication through any means an all powerful goddess should be capable of.

And the leviathans seem to function as ‘lesser gods’ (although they seem to just be unfathomably powerful/beings that have reached a godlike state instead of being immortal all powerful beings like Lunadeyis and Aster seem to be) who communicate Lunadeyis’s will (although I may be wrong in this interpretation the lore is just so vague). Even then there’s the same problem, why does she need to interact with the undersea through a pantheon of semi-gods when she could just interact with them herself. And then we have Gillion mentioning he’s never actually communicated with her in any way, even though he draws his power as the chosen one from her and the leviathans, and we know he has some sort of magical connection to her.

Anyway I have a few theories as to why the Goddesses seem incapable of directly interacting with Mana (they are eldritch horrors who can’t directly communicate in ways mortals can understand, they don’t really gaf, they are dead gods with only vestiges of their power remaining, they’ve been gone for aeons rain world style etc) but there’s no evidence for any theories WHICH IS ITSELF SUSPICIOUS.

I just want to know why the gods of this world, who should be so important with how they’re involved with almost every aspect of the story, seem entirely absent. Grizzlyplays drop your god lore right now I’m warning yuo

Ok quickly throwing my hat into the chip vs jay ‘champion of death conflict’ arc predictions ring

First off, going off public episode knowledge (up to 128) we know a lot of jay’s ongoing character arc has been about her own sense of morals and justice, -what she is and isn’t willing to tolerate from the people she loves- which has at this point lead to her pretty much disowning herself and giving up the Ferin name (which is actively fucking up her sense of self, with how much she still loves her family and her sense of family pride)

We Also know that she has very much clocked on to Chip’s lying about the names Calypso gave him, and he knows she knows (they both know that Jay is very observant, she’s also probably figured out at least a few of her direct family members are on the list, but this isn’t about that).

Meanwhile a part of Chip’s arc has been about learning not to lie to his friends, which he has gotten a lot better at. He also has a history of keeping secrets when he feels like mentioning them wouldn’t help a situation only to bring it up later (which he has done many times in the undersea arc)

Anyway case in point I don’t think Chip is actually planning to keep the secret about the names for that long, and I think Jay knows that, which (among many other reasons, given the… whole situation right now) is the reason she hasn’t cornered him somewhere and strong armed him into talking about it, which she absolutely would if she thought she needed to. (Plus he wouldn’t just go for killing her family without telling her)

Short conclusion: while a conflict between them on a moral standpoint absolutely will be a thing, i don’t think it’ll be a big team splitting break up level problem

So at the end of ep 129 Chibo kills Odelath, (rest in piss old man) and cries about it because he doesn’t actually like killing people, despite his champion of death title

Jay has a little moment after, looking at Chip, wondering if this the first of many, if this is his first step on a road she can’t pull him back from. Which fucking sucks for her, given her lifetime of watching the people she loves being sucked into the navy, either never coming back or never coming back the same.

Anyway my Real hypothesis of this post is that most of the ‘jay, chip, and conflicting morals’ arc isn’t going to be about a fight between them at all (although it Will Happen, in some way or another) but instead it’ll be about jay’s fight with her morals, her family, and how much of herself she’s willing to betray to stay with the people she loves.

All this to say, Jay arc soon, another jolo ep included (where she faces both herself And whatever’s going on with the Ferin bloodline powers)

Vampires smp ep 4 spoilers

V!Shubble’s new lore from this ep is making me lose my mind (vsmp ep 4 spoilers)

Shelby’s dad abandoned her and her mom when she was five?? (Because no matter his reasons that is what he did, even if he didn’t mean to be gone long he had to know there was a possibility) she believed in the stories he told her because that’s all she had left of him?? That’s so sad! That’s so sad! I’d always been a little confused about Shelby’s insistence on her dad dying not being believed but THATS what she meant! Everyone thought he was a crazy alcoholic who abandoned his family! Did her mom start to believe it too? Or did she just think that he died in the woods somewhere?

Did Shelby’s dad go to Oakhurst? Is that why she really came, if she didn’t believe in the supernatural anymore, did she think he was dead before she learned about vampires or did she still have hope, maybe if she brought him back her mom wouldn’t be sad anymore, maybe if she brought him back they could be a family again.

Also this explains so much about her relationship with the other town members (particularly why she latched so hard onto Scott and the coven), she had no friends because she was the weird girl who’s dad left her, no one was willing to tell her so they just whispered behind her back. She grew up knowing she was different, grew up being ostracised for things she had no control over (I will make a post about her parallels with Owen when I finish his pov I swear), for things that hurt her more than anyone else. She stayed believing for so long because she had no other choice, the supernatural had to be real because if it wasn’t her dad left for no reason, she grew up alone for no reason.

Eventually her mom left her too, how Shelby processed their grief was too much for her, Shelby was too much for her, Shelby was too much for everyone, no one ever wants to stay.

Even in Oakhurst where she has good relations with more or less everyone she’s never able to let go of that, how could she? You don’t just get over stuff like that, it sticks with you forever. That’s why she’s so attached to Scott, here’s someone charming and smart who wants to spend time with her? Wants to share an eternity with her? That’s basically catnip for people with horrific abandonment issues, especially now that she’s processing all the trauma from yknow.. being murdered.

Those abandonment issues are also what causes her to turn on the town, now of course she doesn’t want to hurt them, but in her eyes they turned their back on her first when she was turned, and now they’re attacking her new family, who haven’t even killed anybody yet! (..permanently.. recently.. that she knows of). Even then she can’t help but be interested by the cure, she doesn’t hate all the aspects of being a vampire but she’s only twenty five! She’s lived her entire life as an outcast, can she really be blamed for not wanting an eternity of the same treatment?
