Akva was rushed to a private maternity hospital, she didn’t need to worry about the money, Paisley was gonna take care of everything. While in very early labor, Jay briefly left to get changed, no way he’s welcoming his child into the world while in a low budget little mermaid drag. Thankfully, he came back just in time for her to start pushing. And while she was busy giving birth, June went outside cause, let’s say that someone still didn’t know Akva was pregnant...her own parents.
June: Hey yo Misses Singh. Ok so just so you know Akvamareen is giving birth. Yeah, she was pregnant that’s why you haven’t seen her in months, Sanjayson’s the dad. She doesn’t want anyone to see the baby though cause she’s giving it up for adoption. It’s not a closed one though, she’ll remain in contact with the parents, they seem like good people but maybe I’m biased cause I was a big fan of the adoptive mother beforehand. No this is not a joke, I hope you’ll understand.
Riya: WHAT???
June: By the way, why are we holding our phone like that?
The reason for that is very simple. You see, for some reason, holding the appropriate phone for that pose caused June’s hair to turn the texture of the phone, spooky. As a result, she had to pick another one and for some reason, Misses Singh caused every phone to glitch no matter what. Life sucks like that sometime when you’re made out of pixels.
And then, after several excruciating hours of labor, Akva ended up giving birth to a baby girl, just like the ultrasound technician had predicted...Well, “predicted”, objectively speaking she could see the foetus was female, but who know, there’s always the possibility of a mistake happening. Or the baby could grow up and decide to not be a girl anymore, or she could have been intersex...Anyway, so far it seems like the baby is a girl. A girl who looked just like her mom, or at least the woman who gave birth to her, as Akva rejected that title. A little green haired mermaid, with lots of hair, lots and lots of hair for a newborn, with her father’s blue eyes.
A Halloween baby would have been cool, but considering she went into labour at around 10 PM, the odds were pretty unlikely unless she had gotten a C-section right after entering the hospital. Instead, the baby was born at exactly 5:00 AM on the first of November.
Now in the recovery room, the Coxs came to see their newborn daughter. They had a name in mind for her, but before, Paisley felt like it was more appropriate to ask Akva if she wants to name the baby.
Akva: Absolutely not.
Paisley: Are you sure?
Akva: It’s your child, not mine. Pick the name, I don’t care.
Paisley: Oh um, ok. And do you want to hold her at least?
Akva: Nope.
Damian: Are you afraid you’re gonna get attached?
Akva: No, it is your baby, not mine. It’s not me who’s afraid to get attached, I’m afraid she’s gonna get attached to me if I hold her. Go enjoy your newborn, you deserve her. Now I just wanna recover and go back to my regular life.
Paisley: God bless you Akva, God bless you.
Paisley and Damian took their new little girl in their arms, forever grateful of this wonderful gift what was a total stranger to them a few months prior gave to them.
Whelp, that chapter of Akva’s life was hopefully over. Now, what’s next...
As the vacation in Sulani were soon coming to an end, the group went to the beach again, this time a different one, and with Jay on top of that. The Crosdale sisters had been meaning to show it to the roommates for a while, but it’s at around a 30 minutes drive while their local beach is only a five minutes walk. That beach is way less popular by virtue of being isolated, it’s usually where the locals go to get away from tourists. And this beach also had low-poly birds! Low poly chickens in fact! While most of the group was swimming, Akva, Rudi, June and Jay were building sandcastles.
Jay: By the way, got an idea on who’s going to adopt the baby?
June: Really? Out of all the time you could have talked about that in the last week, you picked now?
Jay: Well, Akva and I don’t see each other very much since I moved to Oregon for college, and my vacation ends tomorrow so...Indeed, no better time.
June: Ya had an entire week you dummy!
Akva: I was considering giving the baby to an influencer June likes, Paisley Cox, but she blocked me when I suggested it to her.
Rudi: Ok but like, she’s a human right? Cause I mean, you’re a mermaid, Jay’s a merman, your baby will be a mermaid. And raising occult children is a unique challenge most humans aren’t prepared for. For example, my dad was a human and like, I love my dad, miss him so much and may his memory be a blessing but...It’s obvious he wasn’t prepared to raise three little werewolves.
Jay: “A unique challenge”. Why are you talking about us occults like we’re puppies?
Rudi: Um, first of all I’m an occult too, I’m included in the three little werewolves, and also arguably my parents were indeed raising puppies.
That’s when Akva looked up and she saw her, in the distance, taking some nice Instaworthy Selfies™ with her husband. It was her. Paisley Cox.
June: Holy shit!!!!
Jay: You told me she’s Italian. Like her name doesn’t sound that Italian to me. In fact it doesn’t sound Italian at all.
June: That’s because she took her husband’s surname, Damian Cox. Who is fun fact the son of the popular 90s rapper 2D-Maks. Her maiden name is Cucci.
Jay: BITCH WENT FROM CUCCI TO COX???

Well, as if she had forgotten any common sense, Akva ran (as best as she could) towards Paisley. She might have blocked her on Instagram, but she can’t block her in real life...Well, you can technically, it’s called a restraining order, but you can’t just click on a button and automatically get one.
Akva: Ok, ma’am, you’re going to think I’m crazy. But hello, I’m the teenager...Well, I’m 20 now, but I’m the teenage girl who suggested you could adopt my baby, remember me? My username is GuyanasTurquoise. And the offer is still open.
Paisley: Stop it, this is creepy! Did you stalk me to find me here?
Jay: Well if you didn’t want to get stalked you shouldn’t disclose publicly that you’re currently on an island with a population of around 100,000 which you can drive the entire coastline in barely three hours.
June: Great point Sanjayson, indeed sometime people are reckless with online safety. But could you formulate it in an even more victim-blamy way next time?
Akva: I am serious. Y-You sound like a great mom, you’re clearly passionate over having children one day and I saw your videos of you taking care of your nieces and nephews. And how you’re looking into fertility treatment or surrogacy, and unlike me, you have loads of money, well more than enough to raise a child. P-Please, a-a-a-as long as you keep me updated on my child’s life and I get to see them ever once in a while, I’ll give it to you. Once we’re back in the US, I can even make the first move and contact the adoption agency. I’m not even saying it as a fan of you, I just think you’d make a great mom and it sucks you can’t have children while I ended up knocked up without even trying.
Paisley: ...Look sweetheart, this is a huge decision for both you and me. I’ll think about it.
Akva: Just don’t forget to tell me your answer, even if it’s negative. So in that case, I can just move on and start searching for another family. The official way this time though.
Paisley: See, it’s not that hard.
Usually, when someone says they’ll “think about it”, it means a no. But who knows, maybe this time it’ll be a yes and Paisley will adopt Akva’s baby. Only the future will tell.
The Halloween party organized by Paisley was going well. A storm was supposed to start during the night, but so far the weather was lovely which good, cause they were on a roof mostly outside. The reason Paisley was in San Myshuno that week is quite obvious, Akva was on the verge of giving birth, so she had to be there to finalize the adoption. Jay and June also came, as it is still technically Jay’s baby and June wanted to be there for her best friend.
Jay: I am freezing.
June: What were you expecting, it’s October 31st and we’re on a rooftop in New Jersey.
Jay: Also I have my dick and balls taped to my asshole right now so I can fit into these leggings and I am deeply uncomfortable.
June: ....I didn’t need to know that.
Akva: How did it even cross your mind to try doing this?
Jay: It’s a popular method used by drag queens and also trans women so you don’t have a bulge.

June: Oh my god that reminds me-
Jay: I am terrified but go on.
June: Like, you know I have PCOS so I’m cursed with growing chest hairs but like, do you know how hard it is to shave your chest when you have titties? So what I did once is I tried flattening them by using tapes and boy was it A MISTAKE. Almost lost my nipples that day.
Jay: Speaking of shaving, I should have done it. I wanted to look like a pretty mermaid but instead I look like a weird pervert.
June: Aww, don’t say that. Look at Akvamareen, she’s a pretty mermaid and she has super hairy arms!
Akva: Fuck off. I literally did not have those before I got pregnant and no matter how much I shave them they keep coming back within hours, this is hell! My only hope is that they’ll fall off once this is finally all ov-
As she said that, what felt like the worst pain of her life hit her, like being struck by lightning through the navel. She excused herself and waddled to the bathroom, each step being harder than the last. Shit shit shit shit shit shit. It’s happening, it’s happening now, in the middle of this Halloween party.
Sure, she should have expected it considering she was 41 weeks pregnant. But for fuck sake, she really tempted fate when she said earlier the odds of her going into labor at the party were still pretty low.
After putting it off for months, Akva had to cave in, she had to get pre-natal care. Whether she likes it or not, a baby is going to be there in a few months, so better not neglect its health on purpose...And like, pregnancy is also really hard on the mother too, so better make sure everything is ok for her too. Jay was also with her, as he was spending the rest of the summer in San Myshuno in his family, mostly cause his 20th birthday was approaching in late July and he wanted to be with his folks. He would only return to Oregon around a month after that.
Ultrasound tech: Do you want to know the sex?
Akva: No, not reall-
Jay: Yes!
Ultrasound tech: It’s a girl.
Akva: I said I didn’t...Why do you even care Jay? That child is not for us, it’s for Paisley and Damian.
Jay: I’m a curious bitch!
Ultrasound tech: Could you please resolve your relationship issues elsewhere? Anyway, congratulation, your little girl is a perfectly healthy mermaid.
While it’s impossible to tell what another occults a child might be with an ultrasound, mermaids are pretty easy. A mermaid’s fish tail grows when they come into contact with water, and being in contact with water is pretty much all a fetus in the womb does all day.
A little bit later, Akva needed to get some fresh air, so Jay brought her for a walk in a park near his childhood home, where the two had spent countless hours as teenagers.
Jay: You know Akva, I’m worried about you. I knew you were a mess before, but it’s gotten worse. Like, you used to be a track star and wanted to go to college and to do stuff with your life. Now you work a shitty minimum wage retail job and live with a bunch of losers in one of the worst district in the entire city! What happened to you?
Akva: Losers?! You mean my friends?! And you fucking know what happened to me, you were there.
Jay: You’re just making me sad now. Like, just look at you. You didn’t want to be a lesbian, so you lied to yourself and tried dating guys and it backfired twice. Like one time left you pregnant and the other left you disabled while Khaled fucking died. And now you don’t want to be either of those things so you just do whatever that’s not recommended during your pregnancy while you just let yourself rot as if you died too.
Akva: I can no longer run and I can barely swim. My entire life before that night were centered around those two things. If I can’t do either, what’s the point.
Jay: Unlike Khaled you have the privilege to still be alive, so use it! Yes, sometime life doesn’t go your way ok! Maybe I didn’t want for my parents to get divorced when I was a kid, maybe I wanted to have clear skin, maybe I wanted to be born a gi-...greater...son...a greater son! Life doesn’t always go your way!!
And Akva started crying, as if she didn’t felt enough guilt already regarding the death of Khaled. She had literally bribed June during her vacation so she wouldn’t bring him up. This caused Jay to go into damage control, especially considering another thing he almost said. Which ironically is also something about himself he can’t accept.
Jay: You know, since you complained earlier that this tank top is the only shirt you have left that fit you, but can’t bring yourself to buy actual pregnancy clothes. Like, my sister had a baby two years ago and you seem to be the same size I think. I could ask her if she doesn’t mind borrowing them to you, which I don’t think she will considering she said my nephew is going to be her only baby.
Akva: Are you crazy? I said I don’t want either of our family to find out!
Jay: Ok then, I can tell her it’s for me. She caught me trying on her jeans once...In my defense I was just curious how women jeans feel like ok, don’t judge me. I thought she wasn’t home that day.
Akva: There is so much things to unpack here I don’t even know where to start.
Jay: You know, I think it’s ironic I’m the last person you dated before realizing you like women instead.
Akva: Why?
Jay: I-I don’t know.
Since the mood was starting to improve again, Akva decided to be a little bit nice and offer Jay to feel the baby. As he did, he started thinking about when the ultrasound technician revealed the gender of the future kid. “It’s a girl”. Why couldn’t it have been what Mister and Misses Ramdeen heard twenty or so years ago.
