“so how long do you plan to stay down there?” the words fall off his lips almost breathlessly, eyes fixed on your pretty face, his dainty golden chain hanging near your face.
“hm, not sure,” you reply while reaching out to his soft locks with your fingers and brushing the strands away from in front of his eyes tenderly. “i like the view,”
he lets out a soft, breathy chuckle at your words, continuing the last of his morning workout which seems to be dragged out because of you. he pushes himself up, noticing how you’re lying still while holding in a laugh as he leans down a bit too close to your face.
he tries to focus on the push ups but the way your eyes trace over the muscles of his arms makes his resolve falter. “you’re making this harder than it already is, angel,”
“i’m barely doing anything,” you reply with an innocent giggle and he stops in a higher plank position, looking at you before letting out a scoff. that’s the catch— you’re not doing anything and he’s having a hard time balancing on top of you, his arms parallel to the side of your face, legs trapping yours.
you don’t even have to do anything, jay already has it bad for you. the adorable and drowsy smiles you give him after waking up makes the blood rush to his cheeks. he tries to hide it, but you can definitely notice the way his ears turn red and he’s smiling like a fool at just one look from you. even now when you’re under him, looking like heaven’s incarnate with mischief in your eyes, making it hard for him to focus on exercising— albeit, he doesn’t ask you to leave— he feels like you’ve put a spell on him.
he admires the cheeky grin on his lips, lowering himself down to peck your lips ever so gently before pushing himself back up. “are you having fun?”
“a lot,” you nod with a smile that has him melting and running laps in his mind, one that grows wider at the touch of his lips, making your chest flutter.
“good,” and he pecks your lips again, this time staying down for a few seconds more to savour the feeling of your lips against his a little longer.
you’re looking at him expectantly for another kiss but he gets off you, making your brows knit in confusion. you blink in surprise, sitting up on the floor, words spoken with a silver of confusion. “what are you doing?”
“you had your fun. now my turn,” and he wraps his hand around the back of your neck, slamming his lips against yours, making you melt in the moment. it feels like a daydream— the way his soft lips move against yours slowly and sweetly, in love, and you hope it stays like this forever.
Your eyes were looking all over the place as you walked into the venue for the awards ceremony, as ever, there were familiar faces all over the place, making sure that you smiled to as many of those that you recognised as possible whilst staying nice and close to where Jay was too.
Jay had a close eye on you as the two of you walked, standing just a little way back from the rest of the boys as they walked in too, following the members of staff who were pointing the group to where their table was.
“Are you alright?” Jay asked as soon as you reached your table, noticing your names side by side to the left side of the table, looking ahead at the stage.
Your head nodded as you took a shaky breath, trying your best to stay relaxed. As ever, the business of award ceremony season soon started to creep up on you, reminding you of how overwhelming it could all be, even whilst Jay seemed to take it all in his stride.
“I think we might need to go and do an interview before we sit down,” Jay informed you as he listened into conversation, “I promise that we won’t be too long doing it though.”
“Don’t worry, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”
Jay smiled appreciatively at how understanding you were as Jungwon began to round them all up, following a member of staff across to where a couple of the broadcast stations were doing interviews. You stayed sat at the table, minding your own business until the chair beside you scraped along the floor, a figure deciding to take a seat in it.
“Why’s Jay left you all alone at a place like this?” The man asked you from your right side.
As you looked across, you recognised Hyunjin’s face straight away. You offered him a weak smile, not quite sure what to do or say as you looked around for where Jay and the group had gone, only to not find them anywhere in sight.
With no one else around the two of you, Hyunjin decided to take the chance to get to know you. It didn’t take long before he was asking all about you, laughing and joking with you, unaware of the group’s interviews finishing up, heading back across to the table.
“Who’s that?” Jay asked any of them as he looked across the table and saw the back of someone sat beside you, spotting you laughing straight away as you spoke to them.
Whilst Jay hung back, Sunghoon and Heeseung kept walking towards the table, soon recognising that it was Hyunjin that you were talking through. Their presence quickly made Hyunjin go silent, turning around to see Jay following behind them too.
“Hello,” Jay nervously spoke as soon as he met Hyunjin’s eyes, folding his arms across his chest. “It seems that you’re in my seat, do you mind if I take my seat back?”
Hyunjin nodded, offering you a warm smile as he stood up from the chair, greeting the boys too. The moment Hyunjin left the chair, Jay sat himself back down in it, placing a hand against your thigh, making sure that Hyunjin caught it before he walked back to where his own group were sat.
“He was nice,” you told the boys as they all sat back down at the table with you too, “you guys would like him too,” you added, only to feel the grip that Jay had against the top of your leg tighten as he listened to you speak.
His actions didn’t go unnoticed by the boys either as they noticed Jay’s expression tensing up. “We prefer to just keep to the people that we trust,” Sunwoo told you, trying his best to encourage a change of subject around the table.
“But he seems really friendly.”
“He’s not as friendly as us though,” Jay muttered underneath his breath.
“I know that, I’m just saying that he was nice to me.”
As you looked across to Jay to reply to him, you noticed his expression for the first time. You were confused as to why he looked so irritated until you looked across to Jake who mouthed the word jealous back across to you.
“I bet his group aren’t as good as you guys are,” you spoke up again, spinning things around as you tried to make Jay feel better. His smile turned up slightly as he listened to you, knowing that he was definitely better than Hyunjin was for you.
Your eyes looked around the table for reassurance as the boys all watched Jay too, with Riki especially nodding at you, letting you know that you were doing the right thing.
“Have you guys got anymore work to do before the ceremony starts, or are you staying here now?” You enquired, reaching under the table to rest your hand over the top of Jay’s, intertwining your fingers in tightly with his to be able to squeeze his hand.
As Jungwon talked you through the group’s plans, you were relieved to hear that they were done. The last thing you needed was for them to go away again and to risk someone else approaching you whilst you were alone.
“That means that I can keep an eye on you,” Jay whispered across to you.
“Why would that be? Were you perhaps a little jealous?”
“No,” Jay firmly stated, tightening his grip against your hand, “if you think that I’m jealous about someone like Hyunjin then you’re very much mistaken.”
Jay’s comment had several of the boys stifling laughs as they struggled not to chuckle to themselves. It was apparent to everyone that Hyunjin’s appearance by your side had gotten under Jay’s skin, no matter how much he wanted to suggest otherwise.
The way he bit down on his bottom lip or stared at every single guy who got a little too close to your table let everyone know that he was unsettled. He hated anyone being around you, much preferring to keep you all to himself.
“It’s a good job that you’re here to protect me now then,” you teased, resting your head down against Jay’s shoulder. “I’m not saying that you were jealous, but if you were, then you really didn’t need to be Jay.”
“I wasn’t jealous of him.”
“Course you weren’t.”
Jake’s mutters had Jay’s eyes flickering across the table, staring across at him. “Excuse me for wanting to keep Y/N safe, especially at an event as busy as this one.”
Your head shook as Jake held his hands up to try and protest his innocence. “You can see in your eyes how jealous you were,” Jake told him, winding Jay up even more as his grip got even firmer on you to keep you by his side.
“Let’s try and forget about it,” you suggested, “you guys aren’t going anywhere for the rest of the night, which means that no one will come near me.”
Jay’s head nodded at your suggestion, shooting a glare at the rest of the boys too. There was no way that he was going to admit to being jealous, especially when he would have to admit to being jealous of Hyunjin of all people.
“Stay by my side for the rest of the night,” Jay whispered to you.
“I’m not going anywhere; I think your grip is too tight to let me go anywhere anyway.”
“Sorry,” Jay weakly chuckled, “I don’t want anyone else to come near you, you’re only supposed to be mine.”
gn!reader. i wanted to do something sweet for jay’s bday... i think this counts? synopsis: you, completely faded into the stockholm syndrome, love to be around jay <3
you had slowly begun to realise how much better you felt in jay’s hands. he always made sure to do whatever was best for you, even if you didn’t understand or realise it at first. your favourite thing was to wake up with jay by your side, him playing with your hair and looking at you like nothing else mattered.
his fingers traced through your hair, careful not to hurt you, and you could feel his chest going up and down from breathing. “my angel,” he said once he saw your tired eyes. his lips met the crown of your head before he continued, “did you sleep well?” you slowly nodded, melting into his touch, “mhm.”
nothing made him happier than to see you finally accept your fate. you belonged to him, it was written in the stars <3 he had dreamt of this moment ever since he laid his eyes on you, and nothing could take you away from him.
“you know you’re the best thing i could’ve wished for? you’re my everything…” his voice was barely above a whisper but the effect it had on you was the same — cheeks tinting red, eyes fluttered close, hands gripping onto his tighter, “you really mean that?” one more kiss was placed on your crown, “yes, i would never lie to you.”
You would automatically stop talking as the joke left your mouth as you saw the smirk crawl onto Gray’s face. He had been trying to convince you that now was the perfect time to get married and your little joke proved that his convincing was working, causing you to roll your eyes.
JAY PARK
He would laugh awkwardly as he was not ready to get married and the thought that you might want to get married sooner than planned would freak him out, you would have to constantly tell him it was just a joke to wipe the look of terror off his face.
WOO WONJAE
He would simply brush the joke off, but would keep the idea in the back of his mind. He would love the idea of being married to you and you joking about it would inspire him to actually start making plans to propose, he would smile loving at you as you looked back at him confused.
CODE KUNST
He would be laughing with you. This man found everything hilarious, but it would kinda upset you that he found the idea of marrying you so funny, but he would notice your sad face and promise you that he was joking and he had every intention of making you a married women.
SIMON DOMINIC
He would stare at you blankly leaving you confused, you hadn’t spoken about marriage before and the joke was sending a million ideas rushing through his head, you would constantly ask him what the matter was, but he would simply answer ‘nothing’ and pepper you with a million kisses.
LOCO
He wouldn’t take it as a joke, he would almost propose automatically. He wanted nothing more than to marry you, you would be telling him to stop playing around, but he would run off to your shared room to get the ring box he had been hiding to propose to you properly.
YUGYEOM
He would find it the funniest as you had both said time and time again that you were both too young for marriage, however, you would both spend the rest of the evening wondering what forever with each other would look like.

being friends with jay comes with surprises.
just like the one in front of you— a whole camping scene prepared in front of you even though it’s on the huge open balcony of his house. a tent placed right where the potted plant used to be, decorated with fairy lights connected to an extension board. you don’t miss the amount of pillows inside, your heart swelling up at how warm everything looks, especially at the sight of the endearing smile on his face as he brings in another blanket.
“i didn’t know you were serious about this,” you could only manage to whisper a few words out of amusement, earning a playful huff in response.
“of course, i was. what do you even take me for?” you stand still as he brings the snacks from the kitchen— all your favourites.
all because you mentioned wanting to stay up all night stargazing, and then witnessing the sunrise. it was abrupt, just something said out of the blue when sunghoon asked what you’ll be doing during the summer breaks. you hadn’t enough finished dreaming about it, and jay was already in front of you, turning it into a reality.
he turns to ask you something before noticing your glistening eyes, the tear rolling down your cheek which brings him at a loss of words, the whole scene tugging his heartstrings a little painfully. it isn’t until you notice his surprise that a soft chuckle falls off your lips, your voice faltering for a moment. “i’m sorry, i just—”
“hey, don’t be embarrassed,” and jay knows how you get emotional so easily. he finds it endearing, your tears leaving a twinge of sadness in his chest. he reaches out instinctively, gently tugging strands of hair behind your ears. “i think it’s sweet how easily you are moved,”
you almost freeze at his actions, hearing your heart beats reverberating through your ears, afraid he would hear them too. it’s cinematic how time seems to stop when you look in his eyes— and he thinks you look impossibly breathtaking under moonlight with beads of tears resting on your eyelashes.
you almost feel your eyes darting to his lips, almost, before you break away from the contact and try to calm your nerves. you grab two cans of beer from the tray kept aside, passing one to him. “let’s make a toast,”
he laughs softly, the sound almost a relief from the sombre mood that had settled between you two. he gladly takes the can and pops it open, taking a sip from his beer can and eyeing you as you take yours. “you’re emotional and lightweight. what a deal,”
all it takes is a playful slap on his arm for you to settle between the pillows and blankets, grabbing a packet of chips. you both had agreed on the ‘no phone’ condition, leaving your devices somewhere in the living room. you didn’t have time for your phone anyway, having your hands full with the opportunity to look at the stars, and jay.
you barely finish a can before he’s reaching out for another, already dazed by the drink messing with his neurotransmitters. this usually never happens, even after two and a half bottles of soju. today, he’s tripping down the tipsy lane, just nodding and smiling aimlessly as you talk and talk— and he thinks to himself how lacklustre the stars look compared to you, and the way the soft yellow glow of fairy lights illuminates every single feature of yours that makes him swoon.
the stars aren’t even worth watching.
he takes another swig of his beer, his eyes never leaving your face, just like your gaze that refuses to leave the stars. he studies you for a few seconds, enjoying the blissful silence between you two. you are the one with less tolerance between him and you, but today jay is feeling the buzz of alcohol blurring his conscience. “you really are a sight, you know that?”
it doesn’t dawn upon you how close his face was until you turn to look at him. he takes in your reaction, the way your eyes widen. your shyness only emboldens him further, making him lean even closer, face now mere inches away from yours. he feels the subtle scent of your perfume tingling his senses, driving him crazier than you have already done.
he reaches one hand to cup your face tenderly, his thumb lingering a little too close to your lips. it sends a shiver down your spine, a sensation that makes it hard for you to think straight. he notices the way your lips part ever so slightly, although not a single word coming out of your lips. “so beautiful,”
sobriety wouldn’t have let him cruise this far, nothing would’ve convinced jay to act upon his feelings, except maybe a little bit of liquid courage that makes him bolder than usual. his gaze remains fixed on you, his silence giving you an excuse to back down from whatever this could lead to, eyes tracing every single feature on your face. and when you don’t, he leans in even closer, his breath hot against your skin. “stop me before i lose myself to you, yn,”
his voice is a heady mix of desperation and desire, as if pleading for you to drive him out of whatever spell you’ve done on him. he watches you intently, waiting for you to push him away, to stop him before he does something he might regret, but your silence only fuels his desires. he moves his hand down to your chin, tilting your face up slightly, thumb gently tracing your lower lip. his gaze locks into yours yet again— an action that sends your heart racing a thousand miles, unbeknownst to him, faster than it was already beating. “say something, please,”
you almost melt under his touch, under his pretty voice and a gaze admiring you as if you put the stars in the sky. it feels like a fever dream to be this close to him, stuff that your highschool self used to daydream about. you would go to bed, giggling about the slightest possibility of him giving you flowers on valentines, something your friend indulged you into. it was a dream, wanting to be with someone who embodied perfection, and yet again, jay was in front of you, making it come true even before you had finished dreaming.
so, you just stay quiet for a few more seconds that feel like hours on empty before whispering against his lips. “kiss me,”
a pause, his breath catching up in his throat.
jay wasn’t expecting you to initiate it, it felt like he was going to get a heart attack. hell worse, if he’s starting to hear things due to alcohol. however, your eyes tell a whole different story with the way they’re taking in every single part of him, begging him to do something. he doesn’t hesitate— with a swift, fluid movement, he closes the small distance between you two, pressing his lips against yours in a searing kiss.
it’s like a need, the way every part of him years for you. the way flesh wants to knit itself over a wound. as if he’s drowning and you’re the air he needs. his lips refuse to leave yours, hands sliding down your body to pull you onto his lap. he deepens the kiss, letting his free hand down to the small of your back to pull you even closer. he feels himself slipping out of his sanity when your fingers get tangled in his hair, tugging onto them ever so slightly.
“you have no idea what you do to me,” he whispers, lips trailing kisses down your neck and leaving faint marks in their wake, his nose brushing softly against your skin that makes you sigh in bliss. he stops abruptly, breathing erratically against your neck before looking up at you. he takes in your appearance, your flushed look with hair a bit dishevelled. you looked like a mess, and unbelievably his. “you’re so beautiful,”
you smile at his words, feeling your face heat up even more than it already has. this has to be a fever dream, you tell yourself, and then cup his face ever so gently. “you should kiss me again,”
he smiles. “you always order me around,”
“kiss me.”
“are you sure?” he murmurs, lips curved into a teasing grin as he leans in even closer with his forehead against yours. “i’m really bad at keeping my hands to my—”
and then you grab the back of his neck, yanking him towards your lips and pulling him into a chaste kiss. you feel him smile into the kiss, his hands resting on your sides as they pull you closer than possible. soft giggles erupt in between, sweet nothings shared between quick pecks oozing with admiration, and ‘i love you’ spun in the air and you realise that the stars aren’t even worth watching, for you have yours right in front of you.

ib — “the perfect pair” by beabadoobee
“are we okay?” you whisper against his lips, fingers caressing his cheeks that are stained slightly with your lip tint.
and he whispers back before capturing your lips in another slow yet searing kiss. “yes,”
you think you’re addicted to his lies.
“jay—” you try to speak, although he cuts you off by putting his finger on your lips. he picks you up a little, just enough to settle you down on your dresser, not caring about stuff falling around. he can buy you a whole store, you just have to say the word.
“not a word, angel, please,” his words are laced with desperation, quiet yet ringing so loudly in your head. you don’t know who leans in first— perhaps him, his lips moving against yours ruthlessly in contrast to the tenderness in the touch of his hands as his fingers slide a little under your top.
and it goes like this, always.
something goes wrong, you say a thing, he says another, an argument follows, and it’s forgotten as if it never happened. you were planning to have a serious after he stood you up for the third time this week, convincing yourself to not let him fool you. you had been running the conversation in your head over and over again, formulating your words. you were prepared for the talk, but it really only takes a look from him, and you’re back to square one.
“shit—” you feel him curse under his breath, his lips grazing over your neck, down to your collarbones. your head tilts back habitually, a nip at your skin that makes you shiver. you feel his fingers fiddling with the hem of your top, your breath hitching as he looks into your eyes and takes in your flustered face. “can i?”
and two wrongs don’t make it right, but you still give in. a nod and you find yourself on the bed, your top somewhere on the floor— it’s the last of your concerns. it’s quiet, nothing but the sound of rain outside and the uneven breaths in the room. jay pulls back from your lips and shifts all his attention to your neck, whispering between kisses. “you’re so perfect,”
lie.
“so, so perfect,” and he pulls away completely, one hand holding your wrist as he plants gentle kisses on your palms and wrists. “i love you so much,”
another lie.
for some reason you think about the first time he had kissed you, the sparkles in his eyes despite the nervousness. it was clumsy, took you both a few seconds to adjust with giggles in between the soft pecks against yours lips. or you think about the first time he said ‘i love you’— scared, anxious, excited. the sight of you in your prom dress had him stuttering, and he could only blurt out those words when you said something to pull him out of the daze.
you know how jay looks when he means something, and nothing like how he’s looking right now.
“i love you too,” and you think you two are perfect for each other, after all, at least in terms of avoiding conversations and hiding things. you can talk, you don’t. you try, he kisses you. he tries, you change the topic.
and so you call it yet another night with the kisses and whispers of words that probably mean little in your relationship. it’s wrong, but you’re still out here doing the same thing and he’s moving the same way, and you end up like always.
