*breaks down door* did I hear Jaya day???
Jay has never been bitten by a mosquito. A fact that no one believes, and Nya finds rather infuriating. To be fair, he has never been bitten by any bug.
“I don’t get it,” Nya says, after a long sip from her boba drink. She crushes a pearl between her teeth and enjoys the exquisite blend of tapioca, mango, milk, and tea flavors. “I mean, Zane never getting bitten by a bug would make sense. But you?”
Jay gives her a sideways glance then folds his hands behind his head while continuing their nonchalant stroll down the street.
“I never thought anything of it until we had to camp in the Forest of Echoes for a mission. The fire went out overnight and when we woke up everyone was covered in angry red welts-- except me.”
Nya huffs, remembering the incident. “Everyone was mad at you for not getting bit. Ugh, those were the worst mosquito bites ever!”
“After that mission,” Jay continues, “I found out from the guys that I had missed out on an important part of my childhood.”
“Being an idiot?”
“What? No-- ugh.” Jay is surprised by how easily Nya is goading him. “Never getting bitten by a bug! Ever! Little boys and bugs are a thing, O. K?”
“I have an older brother, I know all about boys and bugs,” she grumbles, as if recalling an unpleasant experience with Kai and fire ants.
They come to a stop at a crosswalk and wait for the light to turn green. Nya takes another long sip of her drink.
“But why?” she finally asks.
“Question of the century. So of course, we figured it out.”
Nya rolls her eyes, not even wanting to imagine their ridiculous antics in discovering Jay’s anti bug bite ability.
“After many experiments, we discovered that any bug that lands on me, and tries to bite me, gets fried.”
“You mean, zapped?” she clarifies.
“Yeah.”
“Your elemental power has a natural built in defense against bugs?”
“Yeah.”
“You know what this means, right?” she sing-songs, her giddiness almost too overwhelming to contain.
Jay eyes her incredulously.
“You really are a Zap Trap.” She is unable to contain a gorgeous smile spreading across her face.
“Ugh,” Jay rolls his eyes, “Wow, so clever.”
“What’s wrong funny man, can’t take a joke?”
“I think I need to take that boba drink away from you, it’s making you too hyper.”
Nya pulls the drink to her chest defensively. The tapioca pearls and ice slush around the straw. “Hands off my boba, mister!”
The light turns green and Jay takes the opportunity to place his hand on the small of her back to usher them across the street. She leans into his sudden closeness and feels a tingle dance up and down her spine.
“My hands sometimes move on their own accord,” he murmurs so that only she can hear, “I can’t be held accountable for disappearing boba.”
Nya eyes him suspiciously before lifting the straw to her mouth. Flirty Jay is fun, and usually leads to things that are more fun, but first she has a little more prying to do.
“Hmmmm,” she hums, “does this mean when you sometimes zap yourself awake, it’s just a bug trying to bite you?”
“Maybe,” he says, considering her words. The thought had not occurred to him before.
Nya gasps, and Jay is not sure if she is angry or surprised. “Does this mean, all the times you zapped me awake, was because a stupid bug was trying to bite you?” Nya is not sure if she should be surprised or angry either.
A smug smile blooms across Jay’s face. He can’t believe Nya just gave him such a beautiful setup.
“Or you are the bug,” he coolly responds.
Nya stops dead in her tracks and looks up at him, mouth agape, but no words are coming out.
“What-- we both know you like to bite,” he adds and shrugs his shoulders.
“I’m not-- You-- What-- Ugh--” Nya sputters. She feels her eyebrow twitch and can almost hear her mental restraint snap.
“Come on, we are a roadblock standing here,” Jay moves them forward again but Nya side steps away. She stares at her drink, then back at Jay. He can see her trying to calm down, but her cheeks are red, eyes wide, and just too cute when flustered.
“I’d throw this drink at you,” she finally finds her voice, “but I’m enjoying it too much so consider yourself lucky.”
“Thank you, for not covering me in your disgustingly sweet milk tea,” Jay says dryly. “Although, it would turn me into a tastier treat. Exceptionally bite worthy.” He folds his hands behind his head again, elbows sticking out, taunting her with his unprotected sides. There is a bounce in his step as he is trying so hard not to burst into laughter.
Nya purses her lips and wonders when Jay got the upper hand. She was trying so hard to get a rise out of him, but instead he flipped the situation around and got a rise out of her. She resists the urge to crush the delicious boba drink in her hand.
“I think, we just found something else experiment worthy,” he continues, fully knowing that he is pushing his luck, “I suggest we find someplace private to test out this hypothesis.”
Nya has to forcibly stop herself from blowing up in the street.
“And what hypothesis is that? You are bite proof?” she growls. She wants so bad to rage out but knows her outburst would attract unwanted attention. Jay looks like he is going to burst from holding back his laughter, which is only fanning her flames of rage.
His face is split in half with that stupid wise-cracking grin of his as he says, “Is Nya really a bug?”
Nya counts to ten, tries everything she knows to calm down, but that fiery gene she inherited from her father is just too hard to control. The look on her face tells Jay everything he needs to know. He bolts.
“Get back here, Zap Trap!” she screams.
He is running down the street, occasionally turning back to taunt her, but makes sure to keep his distance. They are causing a scene as they weave through the pedestrians. People are starting to recognize them and pull out their phones to snap a shot of the ninja. Nya is hot on his tail, seething with anger, but Jay doesn’t care, he loves the chase.
Random Jaya oneshot
A selfie together Paring: Jaya (Jay x Nya) Word Count: 574 ------------------------------------ Jay was the techie in their group of Ninja. He loved taking selfies with the group or sometimes himself. But he noticed that he never had a selfie with his girlfriend, Nya Smith.
Ever since they've started dating months ago, the pair have been inseparable. Supported each other through thick and thin.
So, with a thought that sparked his mind, what if he would take a selfie with his lovely girl?
One day, during an important mission, Jay was assigned with Nya, Kai, and Lloyd to take on a "heist" which an item was stolen from the museum.
Nobody goes to museums anymore, since they're not much important in Ninjago City. Jay, on the other hand, found it the perfect time to take a selfie.
Once they were in the museum, Lloyd devised a plan for him and Kai to look at the west wing while Jay and Nya would look at the east wing.
And, they did. There was something that caught the eyes of Nya. It was a jeweled scepter, the color of fiery red.
"Um, Jay, have you seen this before?" Nya called out as she pointed to the glassed item.
"I have no idea, but I'll take a picture with it." Jay prepared for his cellphone.
"Really? You always take pics with the team or yourself. This is the first time you're taking it with things," said Nya.
Jay was blushing rose pink and stuttered, "Well...I-I was planning to take the picture w-with you."
Nya also blushed and shyly giggled. She happily replied with a nod and got closer to Jay.
They carefully stepped back a little bit from the glass box, also trying to not break it and they both posed for the picture. Nya with a peace sign and Jay with a smile on his face.
"Say cheese!" he said. "Cheese!" replied Nya. At the same time, he pressed the camera and quickly, it flashed a little light.
They did it. They took their first picture together as a couple.
"That's something I like about, Jay" Nya curled a smile. "About what?" he questioned.
With no further words, Nya placed a small kiss on his cheek, making Jay blush like a tomato. Nya chuckled at the sight and they both laughed.
Then, they both stared at each other's eyes until the sound of a cough broke their attention.
That sound came from Nya's brother, Kai, who is a little annoyed. Standing alongside him is Lloyd, who was making himself still from giggling wildly.
"I take into account that you two are busy with something?" Kai asked the both of them.
Nya and Jay both blushed and Nya quickly replied, "Not much. We just had a chat, that's all." Jay then nodded too.
Lloyd then said, "We best be going now. We found the missing item." The missing item was in the closet, indicating that someone was in a hurry.
They all laughed and went to the Destiny's Bounty to travel back to the monastery.
Time skip!
Later that night, before he went to sleep, Jay opened his cellphone to find the photo. He went to the Photos app and saw the selfie they took earlier.
Jay couldn't help but blush at the sight of his girlfriend posing whilst smiling.
"Heh. She's so beautiful when she smiles," he sighed happily.
He turned off his phone, placed it at the bedside, and slept peacefully for the next day.

Um, hi! I wanted to do something for Jaya Day 2020 since Jaya is one of my ships so here’s something for June 1st.
A small story for Jaya day
-
‘Zane!’ Jay slammed the refrigerator shut. ‘Didn’t we have strawberries?’ His yelling was heard halfway around the monastery, as Zane promptly responded from his bedroom.
‘Lloyd took them!’
Jay let a sigh escape his lips. Nya chuckled behind him. She opened the cookie jar on the table, but closed the lid with as much force as Jay had closed the refrigerator with before.
‘No cookies left either. Also, I think I heard Sensei complain about our lack of honey?’
‘Well, honey,’ said Jay, ‘I think we should do the groceries.’
‘Good idea.’ Nya narrowed her eyes and smirked. ‘sugar.’ Giggling, they went to get a bag and money.
Cole stopped them in the hallway. ‘Hey, you’re going to the supermarket? Any chance you could grab some juice and some sunflower seeds?’
‘Sunflower seeds?’ Jay asked, clearly puzzled.
‘Not for me, for Pixal. Although I’m not sure she means for eating or planting?’
Jay and Nya exchanged a look. ‘We’ll, uh, get the edible ones,’ Nya promised. She pulled Jay with her and they slipped past Cole to the door.
Before long they were on the road. ‘Jay, could you make a list of what we need to get?’ Nya queried, without taking her eyes off traffic.
Jay scoffed. ‘Only if you let me drive on the way back.’
‘I guess we’ll make do without a list, then.’
‘Hey! I can drive perfectly fine, flour.’
Nya almost steered into another car. ‘Flour?’
‘Yeah,’ Jay grinned, ‘like honey and sugar. Flour!’
Nya only shook her head. ‘Whatever, sparky. We’re here.’ She parked the car and took out the keys, putting them in her own pocket while looking Jay dead in the eye. He begged her.
‘Please! Let me drive on the way back. I haven’t in forever, no one lets me.’
‘And that’s for good reason.’ Nya took his hand and started to the entrance of the supermarket, a large, bulky building with neon letters above the doorway. Even in broad daylight, Nya could see those letters flicker. ‘Jay.’ She tried to sound authoritative. He chuckled. ‘Jay, you can’t do that!’ Her tone revealed she wasn’t all that serious.
‘Let me drive!’ he pleaded again.
‘That’s a ridiculous offer. Those aren’t my letters. I don’t care whether they light up or not.’
‘Allright, I’ll make you a better offer.’ With that, Jay went inside. The letters stopped their flickering. Nya followed him, but when she entered the store, Jay was out of sight. She walked past the vegetables and grabbed some strawberries in the fruit aisle. As she put the box in the bag she was carrying, she caught sight of a blue-clad figure in the corner of her eye. He disappeared behind a rack of soda.
It looked like he was planning something, so she decided then and there to plan a prank on him as well. There weren’t many customers around, so she pretended to study the different kinds of pasta while she summoned some water from a tap behind the cheese counter. Carefully she moved the water past the counter and kept it close to the ceiling. Never did she stop looking at the spaghetti. The blob of water came closer and closer, until she lowered it into her bag. She kept her grip on it and let it hover above the strawberries. Then, she went from aisle to aisle until she found Jay, who was clearly wondering what kind of honey to buy.
‘Nya, do you have any idea what honey we usually have? I know it’s just honey, but there’s so many kinds...’
‘I think it’s this one.’ She took the jar she pointed at off the rack and carefully put it in the bag, without touching the water that she still kept hovering.
‘Thanks, egg.’
‘Egg? I’m an egg now?’ Jay pressed a quick, playful kiss to her cheek.
‘Yup. Next you’ll maybe be butter.’ Then he jumped off again. ‘I’ll find Cole’s juice, you find some sunflower seeds!’
The seeds were easy enough. There was only one kind. Nya just hoped she wouldn’t find Pixal trying to sow them anytime soon. Nothing would grow out of roasted sunflower seeds. The water was still hidden by the bag.
She found Jay again, who’d gotten juice from apples, berries and oranges. ‘Do we need that much?’ Nya said, skeptically.
‘Better have enough. Here, let me put that in the bag.’ She pulled it away from him, startled.
‘No! Um, I better put it in. I have a system!’
‘A system? Isn’t it just heavy things below, light things on top?’
‘It’s exact science! Now give me the juice.’ Instead of putting the bag down and putting the juice cartons in one by one, thus risking Jay seeing the water, she took the cartons with her powers, moving the water inside the beverages. Carefully, she put them in the bag. Jay was now the skeptical one. He didn’t say anything, but Nya could see he suspected something. He studied her from top to bottom, before suggesting to get the cookies. ‘My dear half a tablespoon of olive oil.’
‘Your what now?’ Too late. He’d walked off again. Sure, he was onto her, but he was planning something too. Shaking her head, she followed him to the chocolate chip cookies. After taking three packages and Jay adding one more because, ‘You never have enough cookies,’ they finally went to the cashier and payed.
‘But, mix for five minutes to a fluffy batter, won’t you really let me drive?’ Jay begged again. Nya was focusing on handing the cashier the right amount of money, so she didn’t respond. ‘C’mon, pour into baking mold and distribute evenly!’ He was getting ridiculous, but now she was putting everything back into the bag, still avoiding the water bubble she hid in it.
‘No, I won’t let you drive, Jay. And calling me names won’t help!’ She couldn’t help the smile that played around her lips and the light she was sure was visible in her eyes. They left the store. Jay had finally stopped asking to drive.
Nya pulled the car door. ‘It won’t open.’ She put the bag on the street and pulled the door again. ‘I did unlock the car, right?’ She used the keys again and tried to open the door with both her hands. ‘It’s stuck. Is it opening on your side?’ Jay was smirking. He didn’t try to open the door on his side.
‘I think the car wants me to drive it.’ He walked over to her. She eyed him as he opened the driver’s door without a problem. Then it dawned on Nya.
‘You were obstructing the electric signal! You, you,’
‘Say it.’ Jay encouraged, while he stepped in the car, in the driver’s seat. Instead of speaking, Nya took the water out of the bag. He’d pay. Jay’s eyes went big, but before he could escape, she’d soaked his shirt and pants, carefully distributed so nothing spilled on his seat.
‘Very well,’ she laughed, ‘you can drive.’ He didn’t object, he only sulked in his wet clothes. Still silent, he started the car.
It was only on the way back he chuckled again, when Nya laid her hand on the still moist fabric of his pants as he drove and said ‘I love you, bake for 25 minutes.’
‘I love you too.’
