I Can Wait to Be King
It was the last day before the school headed home for the holidays. Ben was currently walking to the bleachers for one last hangout with Chad and Aubrey. His mind was in the clouds and he didn’t notice he was approaching hs destination until he heard Chad call out a greeting.
“Hey Ben! You finally made it, I see!”
Ben chuckled while Aubrey lightly slapped Chad’s arm in retaliation.
“Ben can come and go as he pleases. He’s royalty.”
“So are we Aubrey, I know you haven’t forgotten that. Besides, Ben’s becoming King next year, which means he should definitely be on time.”
Ben decided to end the bickering before it got too bad. While Aubrey and Chad were similar in many ways, they still enjoyed to argue with each other when they got the chance.
“It’s alright Aubrey, you don’t have to stick up for me. And I’m sorry I was late, I’ve my mind on things lately,” Ben said, trailing off at the end.
“Like what?” Aubrey said, now concerned.
“Namely how it’s my last Christmas before I become King. Who knows how much will change by next year. Plus I haven’t even thought of my first decree,” Ben sounded sad by the time he finished talking.
“Come on, Ben! You have so much time until you’re King. You shouldn’t be worrying about next year yet. Like you said, it’s your last Christmas before your King, enjoy it!” Chad said, trying to encourage Ben. Though he was a bit jealous Ben was the one becoming King, this was his best friend, and he wouldn’t let his feelings get in the way of supporting Ben. Ben gave him a small smile before he turned his head slightly to give Aubrey his attention while she talked.
“Besides, everyone here knows you’ll do great! Plus you’ll have me to help you out,” Aubrey said with one of her dazzling smiles. Chad cleared his throat to get her attention.
“Don’t you mean us? I’ll help you out, too, Ben, if you ever need it.”
“Yes you’ll be there to help, but I’m Ben’s girlfriend so I’ll be more involved,” Aubrey learned in to give Ben a quick kiss. Before, though, Ben saw a quick flash of hurt pass Chad’s face before disappearing as if it never happened. He knew Aubrey didn’t mean anything to hurt Chad, but he also knew how Chad was a bit envious of Ben being King, though he never voiced it to Ben himself. He hated how this would make Chad feel left out. Maybe he could find a position for Chad so he could be involved with everything too. He kept this to himself for now, not wanting to get Chad’s hopes up if nothing could come of it.
“But my first royal decree has to be mine. And it should be something big and something I’m passionate about. I know it’s early, but what if the time comes and I still don’t have an idea?” Ben finally sat down next to Aubrey and put his face in his hands.
“It doesn’t have to be big, Benny-boo,” Aubrey said, using her special nickname for him, “All that’s important is that you’re making it and showing the kingdom that you care.”
“And that it doesn’t mess anything up,” Chad said jokingly, but scooched away once Aubrey turned and glared at him.
“That’s just it, though. I really want to help people; make someone’s life better. I just don’t know how to do it,” Ben said despairingly.
Chad thought for a moment before he came up with an idea and smiled.
“Well, what if for Spring Break we all go on a trip around Auradon?” That way you can see the people and what could make their lives better.”
Ben looked up with a smile so big that Chad could see how he could be related to the Beast.
“Chad that’s a great idea!” Ben exclaimed.
“Yeah,” said Audrey, “I didn’t know you had it in you.” She ended with a smile and a laugh so Chad would know it was in good nature. He got the message and stuck his tongue out at her.
“The it’s a date!” Chad said, happy Ben was smiling again.
“And,” Aubrey continued, “Now you can stop worrying and enjoy and enjoy Christmas. You have to send pictures, your castle’s decorations are legendary.”
Ben smiled at his friends, happy that they were in his life.
“Will do. Are we still video calling when we open our presents for each other?”
“Of course, man!” Chad said. “Right at one, just after lunch but before we go back to celebrating with our families.”
“Another date,” Aubrey said, smiling.
The sun was setting now and all three knew they had to head back to the building soon. With a sign, Ben stood up and offered an arm to each of his friends. Laughing, Aubrey happily took it while Chad rolled his eyes and instead slung an arm over Ben’s shoulder. The trio laughed as they began to head back, looking forward to the break from school but already waiting until they came back and saw each other again.

( also this album was sO good like sO good like i'm side eyeing her for releasing those singles because this entire album was gREAT )
i feel like it was out of place a little bit i think it should’ve been closer to nice things, BUT YA I AGREE SHE REALLY HAD US FOOLED WITH THOSE SINGLES LIKE I MEAN I LOVED THE SINGLES I REALLY DID BUT...... COMPARED TO THE REST OF THE ALBUM... GIRL
