From the day Jaymie was born, life was hectic. Jaymie came into a household already bustling with the activity of three boys. And she was practically raised by her older brother for the earlier years of her life as both of her parents had their hands full. Not only did the Steven and Mai Tien work full-time jobs, but the two of them were also a crime-fighting superhero team. The Oklahoma City bombing occurred just a month before Jaymie was born, but the flood of villain activity in aftermath of the bombing kept the duo busy for weeks afterwards, leaving them unable to provide full attention to their newborn. The eldest brothers, Erick and Daniel, were often put in charge of the younger Kristopher and Jaymie. This often meant that they spent a lot of time causing trouble and getting on each other’s nerves, but there was something all the Tien siblings could bond over: superhero movies. In these movies, the heroes were always victorious and always came home safe. This gave them all hope when they were worried about their parents and made them all more excited for the day when they developed their powers.
Being children of heroes, they were at a potential risk of being targeted by villains. Knowing this, their parents had them taking martial arts from a young age to learn self-defense, and all the kids loved it. Jaymie had a knack for the combat practice, and accelerated through the ranks. When Jaymie turned twelve she finally developed her power; prehensile hair. Disappointed doesn’t even begin to describe how she felt when she discovered that she’d taken after her mother. Erik had inherited flight and prehensile hair, while Dan and Kris inherited flight, ensuring their placements in the hero program in the local superhero school. It was what they had all dreamed of. All four of them had talked about the costumes they would wear, what their sidekicks would be like, and how they would save countless lives like their parents. But that wasn’t what fate had in store for Jaymie.
When she was finally old enough to enroll in the same school, she was placed into the hero support program. Furious, Jaymie went to the office and demanded to be changed to hero, wanting nothing more than to be in the hero program. Although her combat skills were impressive, her superpower wasn’t up to their ‘hero’ standards. She argued endlessly but they refused to switch her from ‘hero support’. Out of spite and pure drive, she stuck with the program and earned top marks. At the end of her high school career she was assigned to work with Ryan Lopez. While he was a damn good hero, he believed he didn’t need a ‘sidekick’ so he left Jaymie out of the loop or let her do background duties. Two years past and Jaymie had had enough of being his hero support. She heard about the program at Skybourne and was immediately filled with hope again. Maybe there she’d be able to convince the board that she was more apt to be a hero than some of the currently ranked heroes.

Ryan Lopez: Formerly worked with him as his ‘hero support’ for two years and still harbors animosity for him. It’s mainly a silent, seething anger, though if and when he approaches her, she’ll unleash it. She feels the need to see him fall from his high horse and fail and also to rise above him and surpass him. She’d be totally ecstatic to face against him in the hero arena and mop the floor with his face.
Leah Johnson: Although Jaymie hates being ranked as a side-kick, she didn’t mind too terribly working alongside Leah. The girl actually let Jaymie help out during assignments and they worked out well as a team.
Who do you think is secretly wild?
I bet that Emma Soren has a wild child locked inside her ready to escape. Same with Jaymie. If she could ever stop being so serious, I bet she’d be a party animal.
