hey there!! i was brought here by your youtube channel. i'm curious: how long did it take to to learn how to mix vocals and music and all that stuff? i just wanna know cuz i've been struggling with it myself lately 😅. love your covers btw!! (especially "what's the use of feeling [blue]?)

Thank you!!For me there have been different stages of knowing how to mix. It took me about a week to learn how to mix without my vocals sounding slapped onto the track, but if you compare my older mixes to the mixes now there’s a world of difference. I think mixing just keeps getting better over time. One thing that helped me is looking up tutorials. I used to guess what every plugin did, but when I started looking up vocal chain tutorials and specific tutorials for things like ‘compression’ it really helped me know /what/ I was doing. So never be afraid to look up how to do something. That’s how I learned to do everything. Also, use references. If you’re doing a cover then use the original song to figure out how you should mix it. Are your vocals the right volume? What effects are used in the song? Are your vocals clear enough? Are they too sharp?Start training your ears!Good luck!

Thank you!! 😭I’d really like to but it depends on the one I collaborated with for the instrumental and whether or not I can afford to commission it. Right now I can’t. But man, that full version is amazing. I hope I’ll be able to!

Hey! If you read the descriptions there are a lot of personal notes for those songs. The two aren’t connected - Poison is about someone still in my life, Can’t Go Back (Goodbye) is about someone who passed away in my childhood. Thank you for listening and for asking! <33
