Thank you!!For me there have been different stages of knowing how to mix. It took me about a week to learn how to mix without my vocals sounding slapped onto the track, but if you compare my older mixes to the mixes now there’s a world of difference. I think mixing just keeps getting better over time. One thing that helped me is looking up tutorials. I used to guess what every plugin did, but when I started looking up vocal chain tutorials and specific tutorials for things like ‘compression’ it really helped me know /what/ I was doing. So never be afraid to look up how to do something. That’s how I learned to do everything. Also, use references. If you’re doing a cover then use the original song to figure out how you should mix it. Are your vocals the right volume? What effects are used in the song? Are your vocals clear enough? Are they too sharp?Start training your ears!Good luck!
