Inversions

It’s been a fun weather week at Jay Peak. First, plenty of snow. Then, after that tapered off, several days of inversions. It’s a fun phenomenon. Clouds below, sky above. 

COVID-19 has turned more than a few things upside down. Our kids attending school from home. Me working from a small condo bedroom, with more than a few people I’ve hired that I’ve never met in person. Lunch break runs! Out in the wider world, its horrible and confusing and enraging. But here in this cloistered world of family and home and mountain community, the pandemic has got its silver linings, with touches of gray, that all make for quite a view.

Accompanying the last few days of interesting cloud formations and cold turns, as always, is a song and a beer. Nothing--NOTHING!--goes better with time on the mountain than a beer.

Okay, maybe the only pairing better than beer and skiing is beer and The Pogues.
