Dear Jay:

You mean the world to me and I’m still upset that you’re a senior, too, and that everybody I love is. Well, mostly everybody. How am I gonna deal without you next year?

So when I look at you and think ‘forever’ I do my best to forget High School for you is ending sooner rather than later and what if we’re not really?

You’re one of the people I feel closest to and I know you’re always there to cheer me up or physically lift me up for the cereal box farthest out of my reach if Adam’s not on one of his shifts right then and you’re just so overall warm and kind and loving and sweet that it’s amazing more people aren’t flocking all over you. And I say more because you do have tons of people coming to you for help or attention or just a smile and you do your best to please all of them it’s so dizzying to watch.

I mean, can one person really be friends with all of them? Does it come with, whatcha wanna cal it, your alpha dog status or something? You’re a force to be reckoned with, obviously.

And you’re always looking out for me, it seems. Or you have been, ever since we became friends and I stopped looking around me to figure out whether you were really talking to me or someone else. I wish I could return the favor, and give you at least half of all you’ve always given me.
