So is that a yes?
It was more of a - your ridiculousness has far surpassed its normal levels.
Do you think Harvard can handle both of us?
Will?
Tell me.
Hilary is a goddess. Wait until I introduce them to the Olsen twins.
Okay, fine. I’ll open it.
...They’re twins. Believe me, they’ve watched every age appropriate movie of theirs.
Okay.
I don’t want to get my hopes up that it says anything other than that I’m still not good enough. I don’t want to be disappointed.
You’re not going to get me to make your life easier in this subject. I’m a firm believer of picking your own demons, and the fear of striking out shouldn’t let you from playing the game. Yes, thank you for introducing the twins to Hilary Duff, too. Open it.
You are wise to me.
Or you could open it and make sure there are no paper cuts for me to have.
Dawson.
What are you so afraid of?
Sorry. I got distracted trying to figure out if you’re more of a Jess or a Michel.
Both?
I was going to say I’m not French, but I’m sure you would consider that the proper timing to make a joke.
Or, you could open it while I watch that you don’t get any paper cuts from doing it.
No. Well, maybe? I don’t know. That’s the thing. I was pretty sure I was sure about everything until I got this in the mail today. I’ve been staring at it like it was going to read itself.
Also, nice Gilmore Girls reference. Endearingly appropriate. Thank you.
You’re only missing the big blue eyes, really.
You got that in the mail today. I think you know better than to try and make x-ray vision work. Dawson, were you looking for moral support or someone to open it for you? Because that constitutes a felony in this country.
The children are our future, you know.
It’s just…I’ve lived in the same town all but two weeks of my life. I’ve been in the same class with mostly the same people since preschool. I was getting used to the idea of college in Cali - the warm weather and the sunshine - but now I don’t know. Does that make sense?
They’ve got their work cut out for them.
Are you talking about a sabbatical or going somewhere closer to what you consider home to be? Even Rory’s plans changed, once she took a good look at them.
You always say that but we totally could. I think it’d be a nice life.
Just…distance and change. It’s going to be so different. Does it worry you?
I happen to live with two people I need to remind that in a day-to-day basis.
I’ve been ready to be on my own since my 12th birthday. There’s not so much in me that change could affect. Why are you concerned?
Sounds super fun. I’m almost sorry I interrupted.
Nothing’s wrong. I was just thinking about school.
We can’t all be having princess tea parties every day.
What kind of thoughts were those?
Hey, is it okay that I come in? Your stepmom let me up.
Sure. I was only sorting clothes. Is something wrong?
Not recently because I’ve been busy with school but he’s even let me go to a few in his place. It’s really interesting. Maybe I’ll take you sometime.
There’s more you can do with your birthday in a warm month but my birthday sometimes also becomes mother’s day. Plus, the last few birthdays haven’t been all that awesome so maybe changing the date would change my luck.
I don’t think I’ve got the taste for it. Or the need to go around decorating anything. Unless you’re just speaking for the experience, in which case one might be more tempted.
I’ve never been big on celebrating it, honestly. Not since I’ve been old enough to decide for myself. The day becomes worse when you’ve got greater expectations for it. You’re only setting yourself up for disappointment.
Yeah, he does. And you know well because it does hold your weight and it is mighty helpful.
The weather plays a large part in it. It’s my favorite time of the year. Not too warm and not too cold, the leaves are changing…
That sounds like a fun practice. Does he take you around auctions a lot? What does the other one do? It’s good for hanging clothes, too. Clears up the mess.
May is not so awful. I prefer the colder months, myself. You know how metallic parts and sun don’t feel so comfortable after a while. I’d rather brave my chances against snowfall.
There is. He owns his own interior design company and shop. He has this warehouse of stuff and occasionally I can convince him to let me go through and grab some things. You know that zebra print chair in my room? It came from him.
I think I’d pick a day in September. Late September.
He owns his own, doesn’t he? Hm. That was a... bold choice. Not that I would happen to know much about interior design - the only type of it I was ever concerned with was what type of bar would fit my room better, and whether it could actually hold my weight or not.
Are you still talking about your zodiac, or is there any other specific reason for it? The weather, perhaps?
