4: What are some of your favorite tropes?

I'm such a sucker for hurt/comfort, you have no idea. (Actually, you probably do, you've read my fics...) Big fan of mutual pining. And goddamn do I love me a slow burn.

15: How do you name settings/characters?

With difficulty. In all seriousness, it depends. Sometimes I just grab names out of thin air. Sometimes I go hunting for meanings and cultural relevancy. Sometimes - with villains usually - I tend to use the names of people I can't stand (pro tip, if I give a character the last name of Hall, or the first names Scott, Tucker, or Pierce, that character is invariably a bad guy). With settings, I use fantasynamegenerator.com a LOT. I've also been known to work placeholder names into something usable - my most common example I give people is the year I was mid-sprint on the first day of writing a fantasy novel, realized my notes were lacking, and said that a character "lived on the other side of the Forest of Fuck I Didn't Do A Map Yet Either". Later on when I was writing, still not having done a proper map, I said "screw it" and named it the Forest of Fiddamye. It stuck.

WHAT IF — i will pick an important choice or event in my current project and write three sentences (or more?) about if it’d gone done differently

There are a lot of good moments I could have picked, but...WHAT IF Martin had doubled back to the Institute on Valentine's Day when Jon went to destroy the table?

I think there are two ways it could have gone, depending on when Martin got back. Either he got there before Jon even went up to Artifact Storage, in which case he talked him out of it, pointed out how stupid and impulsive that would be, and coaxed him to try another way of destroying the Not-Rosie...or he got there after, in which case he ended up sort of in the same situation as canon (going down to the tunnel, seeing the Not-Rosie shifting, possibly getting sucked into the Distortion's tunnel).

If the former, well, obviously Jon wouldn't have had to go on the run, because Jurgen Leitner wouldn't have been discovered and subsequently murdered. I think the biggest consequence is that Daisy wouldn't have had a reason to be interested in Jon...yet...so Elias would have been scrambling to figure out a way to get him Marked by the Hunt. It's fifty-fifty whether Jon or Martin would have been the one to encounter Jude Perry, or if they'd have gone together. I don't think either Melanie or Basira would have joined the Institute at that point, although Elias would have tried with Melanie. Martin still would have been captured by Orsinov in Jon's stead, though.

If the latter...oh, that would have been interesting. Martin would have been disgorged into Jon's office, seen the corpse of Jurgen Leitner, immediately recognized him as the creepy old guy Gerry almost beat to death, and instinctively been like I have to get rid of this before anyone sees it. And he probably would have been caught by the cleaning woman dragging a body to the trapdoor. He definitely would have decided that him being accused of the crime was better than Jon being accused of it.

Elias, of course, wouldn't have had that, not then. He'd have confronted Martin, threatened to kill him if he tried to take the rap for it, and eventually conceded that maybe Jon needed a little...seasoning, but with Martin there to protect him. He'd have been the one to suggest they head out and try to retrace Gertrude's steps, on the grounds that it would get them out of the country for a few days/weeks - a perfectly logical excuse, maybe. And oh, the shenanigans that could have spiraled out from there...
