The Jazz Crusaders: Looking Ahead

Despite their success in the ‘70s as The Crusaders, the Jazz Crusaders were an incredibly underrated group. Many claim a geographic snobbery by the New York jazz power base for the Houston-born, Los Angeles-resident band was a factor. In the ‘90s, I produced reissues of a lot of their live albums on Pacific Jazz with wonderful bonus material and finally in 2005, I gathered and remixed all of their Pacific Jazz Quintet studio sessions with a nice chunk of previously unissued items for a Mosaic set. But recognition for this unique group never blossomed the way it should have.

This is clip 2 of our series Jam-min', approximately one minute of jamming. This is our version of Put It Where You Want It by the great Joe Sample from the Crusaders album Crusaders 1.

It was recorded live, mixed, edited and filmed in my home studio with my Nikon D750 camera using Logic Pro and Final Cut. I hope you like it.
