Jack DeJohnette, of the most daring and singular jazz drummers of the last 60 years, died on Sunday.
Musician and composer Jack DeJohnette has died, age 83.
His credentials and recording sessions too lengthy to list, he was widely recognized, along with Tony Williams, whom he replaced as drummer for Miles Davis, as one of the greatest jazz drummers of the post-war era.
I first heard him in the Bitches Brew-era band, so I'll share a link to his work then, but seek out his work with others, including his recordings with Charles Lloyd and his ECM work.
