The Creeping Bent Organisation (Glasgow, Scotland) record label has been around since the mid-1990s. It was founded by Stephen Lironi (one-time member of Altered Images and Jazzateers). So many great bands have come out of Glasgow - Spacehopper had a short life and never released a recorded debut because “their fuel ran out on re-entering the atmosphere and they were gone.”
Now Creeping Bent is releasing their debut digitally and their previously recorded output via a 10″. One can HEAR Edinburgh more than Glasgow in their DNA - Josef K, Fire Engines, and The Nectarine No. 9. But I can also hear The Gordons. I’m guessing that I’m sounding like a broken record singing the praises of these bands and a sound like this.
Edwyn Collins of Orange Juice and Paul Quinn of Jazzateers. Collins and Quinn released a single together—a cover of Pale Blue Eyes—in 1984.

The Creeping Bent Organisation have released The Jazzateers and The Nectarine no. 9. Eventually, I would have found my way to more this label has to offer. The Secret Goldfish were a Glasgow, Scotland band, and frankly they sound like the sum of their influences...plus. Their influences are clearly The Nectarine No. 9 (Davy Henderson) and Vic Goddard. This is Scottish punk and pop all around.

I cannot overstate how much I enjoy “snooping”. How else would I have found Jazzateers? This is a mid-80s Glasgow, Scotland band that had the misfortune of being at the end of the Postcard era. They are definitely influenced by Orange Juice and Aztec Camera (check out this live set where they open for them). They turned into Bourgie Bourgie and sound much more like Aztec Camera and Prefab Sprout.
The Creeping Bent Organisation is a label that is dedicated to releasing some of this “lost” or “missed” music. The label (run by Douglas Macintyre) has released a few Jazzateers albums but also some great work from The Secret Goldfish.
The label has also re-released a bunch of The Nectarine No. 9.

Sixteen Reasons - Jazzateers
...and have had this in my head for much of the day too.
