Smith scoffed, rolling their eyes. “It’s five AM. I’m always up at this time.” They knew that Carter was right, though. They definitely needed to sleep or at least try. The past night had been restless with their fractured shin. To make things worse, they had refused to take any more painkillers than the ones the ER nurses gave them during their stay. If there was one thing they hated most, it was taking medicine.
