✦ * . ♠ ; an easier question would have been what he isn’t afraid of. anything in that chamber frightens lancer. firstly, and probably the scariest part, that he was completely unaware of that place. he found himself there almost suddenly, without really knowing how. maybe he pressed the wrong button in the elevator and didn’t notice? but he went everywhere the buttons led him, and that place... he never saw that place.
it wasn’t the darkness that got him. he is, after all, a creature of the darkness. it was the cold, closed air, and the heavy silence, in which his footsteps resounded so much louder than he ever heard them. it seemed almost unbreakable.
which scared him even more when a voice talked.
a start, and a short scream escaped lancer’s lips. it took him a few moments to recollect himself enough to realize that he wasn’t alone, and that the voice came from in front of him, where it was dark, darker, yet darker. he approached, without really knowing why --- and there, he finally saw him.
it takes a few seconds for the prince to formulate an answer to that question, lost in the sight of a creature locked behind bars, hidden far below. what are you so afraid of?
« i... i d-didn’t expect to find someone here... » the answer finally arrives, his voice tense and trembling. yet, somehow... he doesn’t seem scared by the creature. « wh... what are you doing here...? h-how-how long have you been down here...? »
