Carol touched down on the island – Genosha, they were calling it – and didn’t get immediately blasted off her feet. She took that as a good sign. But then, she was coming to see Jean. Jean who had flown through galaxies with her, raced her around planets, laughed with her in starlight.
Jean who had been on the opposite side for so long.
It was hard not to see it that way. After that conversation on the hospital roof, Carol had packed Jean into a little box, along with Maria and Monica, something to be opened later. Maybe ‘later’ had finally come. Maybe it had come too late. That’s what she was here to find out.
“Hey beautiful,” she called out as she spotted the familiar redhead. Carol had her uniform on, her jacket over top, and her hands down at her sides – not glowing. There was no more need to fight right? “Come here often?” she teased lightly. “It’s a nice place,” she added a beat later, a little more sincere.
