How is Father’s Day celebrated at the castle?
adam HATES father’s day , for understandable reason. but then he sees belle busy planning and giggling and telling maurice not to look in the east wing because there’s something ~~special~~ in there, and part of him Still Fucking Hates This Holiday because everybody is reveling in their dad-ness and he just….he’s got so many bad memories, man,,,
but….Belle.
She LOVES this holiday.
She loves having a chance to unabashedly show off her dad.
she loves getting to fill his room with flowers and present him with a pair of slippers (that are actually heelies) she made herself and she loves getting to make waffles with him and she loves that he can’t stop it in any of his usual way because “it’s FATHER’S DAY, papa, let me do this just this once!” and all he can do is smile and chuckle and murmur “…..all right”
yeah. adam watches all of that.
and in part of his soul nettles are growing and thistles are peeping out their purple buds and he wants for all the world to not remember his own dad, but he sees belle and her happiness and he sees maurice, who he loves for all the world, and he finds that maybe this holiday can smell like waffles and coffee instead of bitterness and cold wine. he helps belle hide cards around the palace; he helps her set up streamers. he test-drives the slipper-heelies himself. he writes maurice a card of his own and sticks it in a vase of lilies-of-the-valley, ever sweet, ever gentle, and puts them by Maurice’s worktable.
and sips his coffee, and smiles at his bride and her happy father, and realizes—with the old man’s hand cupped in his—that maybe this man can be his father, too.
additionally:
adam totally sends cogsworth a happy father’s day card with no context and cogsworth is absolutely horrified because for a second he thinks it’s from lumiere and that this is his way of announcing they’re about to have a child
lumiere isn’t around; he’s off visiting paris with plumette, and dropping in unannounced on his horrified parents who can’t believe he would visit without letting them know to take the ‘nice’ bed linens out
chip spends the day fishing with jean potts and it’s blissful, even the bits where jean potts falls in the river

Some thoughts on Mrs Potts...
I was thinking lately about “Beauty and the Beast” (meaning the song she sings) and the idea came into my head that in a way she’s not just singing for/about Belle/Adam, but is also remembering when she first fell in love with her husband years ago, even before the curse happened. And that it happened the same way--just a little change, small to say the least, both a little scared, neither one prepared...
She knows. She sees what’s happening. But she lets nature point the way. And when it does, and they find their happily ever after, well...nothing left to say but just pure joy.
When she was Belle’s age (thereabouts), she was a little like her too (maybe with less clobber first ask questions later tendencies though), and convinced she had met every man possible in her neck of the woods in England, and was happy to be single rather than put up with some shallow, rude man who only wanted her for her beauty--and she always believed that beauty was more than what’s on the outside. She didn’t want to put up with a man who’d try to change her, make her “less scary” (what was so bad about speaking one’s mind?) or “teach her to be quiet and demure” (like that was going to happen.)
So she was a little older than most women--mid-twenties--when she finally met Jean Potts. Sure, he wasn’t handsome, but he did treat her well and liked her for more than her beauty. He wasn’t rich, and he didn’t have grand plans for his future (though he wouldn’t mind moving to some beautiful little village in France), and he hadn’t any children, but was still happy and friendly to her. He was different than most of the other men she’d met, and naturally a friendship formed, but Beatrice Potts never believed it would evolve into anything beyond that. She couldn’t see herself falling in love with anyone--
Until she did. Unexpectedly.
Their marriage was always a happy one, with ups and downs as with any relationship, but they always worked it out in the end. Of course they tried many times for children (Mrs Potts wanted at least a couple kids), but then eventually had to accept that they probably wouldn’t any time soon if ever. Jean Potts could have left her, found another woman who might bear him children, but he never did. Not even when she went to work at the castle outside of Villeneuve did he go looking for someone else--he was always faithful to her. He loved her all the same whether or not they had children--they had each other and that was enough for them.
So of course, when Mrs Potts finally became pregnant for the first time, in her mid-to-late-thirties, it was a joyous surprise and the day when they would finally hold their baby in their arms was one that could not arrive soon enough. Both knew well enough that Chip was likely to be their only child, but that was enough for them. They loved Chip with all their hearts and doted on him, and he was the finest boy they could ever have asked for.

I remember! I do!
Any headcanon of Jean Potts?
I haven’t had a headcanons ask in so long omg thank you…!
Jean is a little bit scatterbrained at times. He is actually kind of forgetful, even after the curse is broken, but just about where he left things or what day it is etc, not forgetting he has a family or anything
He doesn’t really have much of a filter and just says what he thinks like when he tells Belle her book sounds boring
He met Beatrice when she first came to France about 20 years ago. After she started working in the castle she would often come to Villeneuve for supplies and such and she loved his pottery and they would always stop and chat. They have a running joke about ignoring the rivalry between the English and the French
He lets Chip ride around on his shoulders and he likes to scoop him up and swing him round and stuff. Mrs Potts would pretend to scold him and tell him to be careful but really she trusts that he will be
He only knew LeFou as an acquaintance around the village before Mrs Potts goes all “HE’S OUR SON NOW” so it takes him a while to get used to but he does grow to love LeFou a lot
