It always seemed to take Steve longer to get around to doing things than he meant to. It was a side effect of being so busy and consumed with looking after dozens of things at a time, or at least trying to keep them straight in his head. He’d been getting a little more sleep lately so that helped but there was still so much going on and always too much to do. He’d meant to check in with Jean Grey a lot sooner, since finally they had an actual medic and it seemed important for him to actually talk to her, see if she had all the supplies she needed and things like that. But he hadn’t gotten around to it until now. He’d seen her, briefly, managed to welcome her to the Mousehole at one point but Steve had had very little interaction with her since and he was finally getting around to remedying that.
Showing up outside the door of the infirmary, Steve knocked, even though it was open, just for politeness sake and then leaned into the doorway and smiled a little. “Hey. I think we’re long past due for a chat.” He realised that sounded ominous as soon as the words were out of his mouth and winced a little. “Which sounds a lot worse than I meant it to. I’ve just been meaning to check in with you and figured I could do it now, if you’re not busy.” He glanced around to see that she’d already done some organizing and rearranging. They’d had an infirmary, of course, just no one to officially staff it for a while and it was actually a load off Steve’s mind to know that someone so capable was finally at the helm. “Looks like you’ve found everything okay. Anything you need that you’re missing?”
