I feel ancient, as though I had Lived many lives.
Gary Snyder, “December at Yase”
Sometimes I think everyone is just pretending to be brave, and none of us really are. Maybe pretending is how you get brave.

Sooner or later we’ve all got to let go of our past.
Dan Brown, Deception Point
We parked up the coast and watched as the sun slowly faded into the horizon & as the colors painted our sky, we could feel the warmth on our skin, we could hear the vast amount of salt water crash against our land, we could see the whole universe, in just one sunset.

Her dream seemed to hold a few eerie similarities to Petra’s, even without all the details. Enough to give Petra chills. But a feeling of mild guilt came over her at the girl’s disinclination to continue. The last thing she wanted to do was make her feel uncomfortable. Her first instinct was to explain as quickly as possible that she didn’t intend to prod her, but she managed to restrain herself, slowly nodding instead.
It couldn’t have been easy, divulging something as personal as a dream at the request of a complete stranger. Petra thought she ought to level with her and explain the reason behind her question. She owed her that much.
“Oh, it’s alright, I understand.” She paused, gathering her thoughts. “The truth is, I’ve had dreams– the same dreams since I was a child. I have them much less frequently now, but they’re always the same. I’m always being chased by huge giants. Sometimes they catch me, and eat me or crush me. Sometimes I can fly away and escape. The sensations are so real; The wind through my hair when I fly, and the pain when I’m crushed. This drawing reminds me a lot of those giants. I’m sorry, my curiosity got the better of me. I had to ask.”
Isabel couldn’t help but wonder what this chick’s deal was, hanging around her pictures, probably taking away some custom from her but it seemed the red head was in her own little world. She shifted a little when she confessed about her own dreams. A frown on her face showed the disbelief, she had to be joking. But then again, maybe there was some hidden meaning behind it like the teeth dreams she had heard people got.
In all honesty, it scared her that people shared the same dreams as her. Hearing everything from someone else’s mouth she panicked. The images of being crushed against another giants back coming through, her chest suddenly burning from the pain.
“Look, lady... just buy some’in’ or be on your way. I said I don’t wanna talk about it” Isabel huffed, clearly a little unnerved by the similarities in such a privet thing as a dream.

The Hawk Conservancy Trust is a conservation charity that works in the fields of conservation, rehabilitation, education and research of birds of prey. I spent a day there photographing a few of the birds that they have. My aim was to photograph the character of the bird and to get some movement into the portraits. I also wanted to illustrate the amazing structure and detail in these beautiful birds.

The fair-haired male shrugged, his gaze not straying from the fleeting traffic below, ❝I’ve only lived in Chicago for a year. I moved into this complex just six months ago.❞ Hm, it really didn’t feel like he’d been here that long. Though time did seem to go by faster with school and work.
He nodded in agreement to the redheads words, ❝It really is,❞ Even with the low thrum of cars. And the view… Beautiful. It really was. All the contrasts of lights. It would probably look even prettier in a better part of town but it was still nice in it’s own way. And there was still that other feeling. Nostalgia maybe? No that couldn’t be right…
❝That’s an unique way to look at the situation, Izzy.❞ Like staring death in the face. Except she wasn’t afraid. He normally wasn’t one for adrenaline rushes but he did really like it up here. Armin chuckled, ❝I can see why being up here’s so addicting.❞ At least this was healthier than drugs.
Isabel chuckled at the compliment of her outlook, nodding and looking down at the passing traffic, “No one even knows you’re up here. You could piss on someone and they’d blame a bird or something” she hummed in amusement, not like she would ever do that but it was always an option if she was cut short on her bladder.
She glanced to her new friend, it felt odd calling him a friend after only really just meeting him, but he’d come to save her life and was now seeing the world from her perspective. “Maybe I’ll see you up here more often” Isabel smiled, hoping to see him again and since he lived in the same complex she might bump into him again.
“So, what got you moving here?” Isabel wondered, leaning back and looking up at the sky. It was almost starless, the pollution and the lights making it almost impossible for them to break through and light the evening.
Of course it is happening inside your head…but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?

“Kinda old school then, aren’t ‘cha?” Jean mused, hands slipping into the front pocket of his jeans for his phone. It was an iPhone - something he’d happily flaunt in public without a second thought, unable to bring himself to ever leave the house without it. But damn, was she smooth. How could he decline that? The discount, of course… not her company. Always the discount. Jean cleared his throat, calling up his number on his phone and then handed the device to her for her to jot down. It took a lot of trust to willingly hand it to someone and expect them not to flick through his photos.
“Y'know, Izza, if you’re interested you could always come to mine and check out my gamin’ rig. I got it for my birthday, it’s real fuckin’ schweet,” his dialect devolved into some strange dude-bro talk towards the end, and he had to double take, rubbing the back of his neck, “That is, if you want to. I can hook it up to the TV and we can play something from my Steam.” His voice faltered the longer he spoke, and he found himself repeating his previous words, “That is, if you want to.” He wasn’t nervous, was he?
Isabel couldn’t help but think it was cute in a way how he kept backtracking, saying the same thing over again. She got the feeling he wasn’t that experienced as he liked to think he was. Cute. The offer was appealing.. she liked gaming, but never got the chance to play since she hadn’t enough money to splash out on consoles. She only enjoyed the ‘old school’ stuff because that’s all she got from her foster family.
As she wrote down his number, she hummed over his question, looking up at him as she handed the phone back, “If you promise never to say it like that again, sure” Isabel smiled and wrote down his name. “I finish here in a couple hours, if you’re free” the redhead added, something about him, she didn’t want to seem too keen, but he was making an effort so why not? “If you write your address down, I’ll walk to yours once I’m done” Isabel smiled, hoping that he was free tonight.
“Just so I can see where my discount would be going” She added with a smirk of her lips, looking up at him with her green eyes.
I have survived. I am here. Confused, screwed up, but here.
