most heather ships are so good because heather is such a well written character that her goodness rubs off on the people around her. every characters beat moments involved heather in some way. aleheather, heathney, gweather, lesheather, the list goes on! you could ship heather with jo or anne maria and it would still be good! though i prefer a lot of heather ships platonically like h-bomb, hizzy, deather, codether, heatherra, whatever justin and heathers ship name is, etc, i still think they’re fun in concept because i love the idea of heather having so many friends!!
the only heather ships i hate personally are the ones where she’s shipped with someone overly nice and innocent like lindsay or owen or something…it just feels wrong. other then that, the rest are pretty good!
That anon Haz responded to gave me an idea. What about June x Dr Heather? Like a little thing since we know barely anything about them?
Genius. Amazing. Wow I love this SO MUCH!! Anon, this request wsa just... mwah, chef’s kiss. (And whoever thought of June and Heather is my hero)
Also, welcome to a fic that’s basically my inner monologue all the goddamn time. Yall are gonna have a weirdly accurate look into my brain so enjoy that lol
Anyways, credit for the characters and their world to @lumosinlove
Are we still on for lunch today?
Yup! Can you pick me up? Then I won’t need to drop the boys home.
Yeah, prefect. See you then!
June stood outside her car as she waited for Finn to come out of practice. They had officially finished training half an hour ago but there was still no sight of that damned red head. June rolled her eyes - he took forever in the shower. She leaned back, perching on the hood of her car as she waited, pulling out her phone and sending Finn a text.
Hurry up I’m hungryyyyyyyyy
She glanced up from her phone and oh sweet divine, have mercy on her, because damn, no joke, the most beautiful woman she had ever seen had just walked out the door. June would like to say she did something smooth, she had a reputation to uphold, damnit, but that all went out the window as she just stared.
And then the woman saw her. And started walking over.
Fuck she was walking over.
“Um, hi, this is going to sound so strange, but are you June?”
June just stared at her with wide eyes, realising after a couple of blinks that uh, yeah this woman couldn’t read her thoughts and she had to, you know, verbally answer.
“Yeah, yeah that’s me.”
The woman smiled and June was so glad she was leaning against her car because her knees nearly gave way.
“Cool! Sorry, this probably seems a bit strange to you - I’m Heather, the sports psychiatrist! Finn and some of the other boys have talked about you a bit and,” Heather paused, scrunching her nose a little. June nearly died. “I don’t know it just felt like I already knew you? That sounds dumb, I know.” She laughed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, flushing a little.
“That’s not weird!” June blurted out, having absolutely abandoned any attempt to seem suave. “It’s pretty cool actually.” June took a breath and smiled. “I’ve heard about you too. But hi.” June held out her hand for Heather to shake. “Since we haven’t officially met.” She said with a wink as Heather giggled, shaking her hand.
Not to be dramatic or anything, but June was pretty sure her hand was quite literally made to hold Heather’s.
“Would you… Would you maybe want to get a coffee sometime?” June asked, praying her voice wasn’t shaking. Heather bit her lip and smiled.
“Yeah, yeah I’d really like that.”

Lost In You - Jeather
Take Me Home; Epilogue Part 5; Harry
The ceremony was even more lovely as it was expected to be, but the entire time I was itching for a ceremony of my own. After the ‘I dos’ were said we went to the reception that was also set up outside.
Somehow Heather and Josh had decided to risk an outdoor wedding, something almost insane in the UK, but it worked out in their favor. The weather was perfect, the sun shining as if the universe itself wanted this wedding to happen.
Awhile into the reception, after the first dances and food was delivered to the tables, I got up, spoon tapping my glass to draw attention to where I sat at the table with the newlyweds. Everyone’s talking slowed to a murmur as I got up to make a toast.
I smiled out at the audience, then turned my attention to Heather and Josh. I took a deep breath and I began.
“I’m not totally sure where to begin here.” I said as the lads groaned. They had been fearing me making a speech because of my ‘poor story-telling techniques’ as they said, but I had insisted. As best man, it was something that was nonnegotiable. “I’m not sure how I landed this roll in this wedding. True, Josh and I have been best mates for a long while, but he’s been just as close with me as the four other lads. He’s one of us. It could have been any of us. Personally, I think Heather was the cause. Josh must have gone to her for an opinion and she made a decision. And as we all know, when Heather makes up her mind, it’s final.”
I paused as the audience laughed, looking at Heather who smiled, knowing it was true.
“No matter how I got to be here, I’m honored to be standing here, taking part in this ceremony with them. Josh and Heather, or Jeather as I like to call them, have been a real inspiration in my life. They are that couple who meet and from the first moment they just know. They know they are going to be together. And I feel special that I was there as they met. As everyone who was there at that moment remembers, Heather called Josh up at four in the morning off Niall’s phone. She called him and demanded that he came over to where she was with Whitney, Rae and Niall. For some reason, he listened to that crazy demand and showed up. I don’t know if I would have done the same in his shoes, I’m sure she sounded terrifying with everything going on. But he did, and that’s when it started.
“By the time I showed up, you could already see it blossoming between them and they didn’t even know it yet. And I think that was the jolt the rest of us needed. We had been having a rough time to put it lightly and we needed something to believe in. They were that something. They were to light at the end of the tunnel so to say, the thing that showed us that love is real and it is worth it and it can start anywhere, anytime and in any situation. We all needed that reminded, and it’s one they’ve given us for years continually, never letting us doubt it even when we wanted to doubt that love was real when things weren’t going our way.
“I’ve never seen two people so perfect together as the two of them. They just worked, no obstacles, always united. Josh is a part of our family, and now Heather officially is as well. Just don’t tell her she wasn’t before, she won’t take too keenly to that one.”
The audience laughed again as I smiled at Heather who was laughing, shaking her head. I raised my glass.
“To the happy couple.” I said with a smile. “Thank you for everything you’ve done, knowingly and unknowingly for all of us. Truth is we never would have got through it without you. You’re going to have the happiest marriage, I love you.”
Everyone cheered and finally I glanced down at Rae as I sat. She was smiling at me as the music started up again.
I stood, but instead of asking Rae to dance, I turned to the new bride, her sister.
“Heather, may I have the honor?”
She nodded and took my hand, standing up. I glanced at Josh, telling him to distract Rae so she didn’t try to read mine and Heather’s lips as we danced and talked.
I whisked her out onto the dance floor and we began to twirl around.
“That was some speech.” She smiled up at me. “And everyone was so concerned that it would be pointless.”
I laughed. “I don’t always tell the best stories. I tend to begin and get caught off track. But something this important, well, I do owe you a lot Heather. From the moment we met you in that hospital, you’ve been a lot of the glue that held us all together.”
“Funny, I always thought that was Rae.”
“It was. But it was you as well. You held Rae together and she held us.”
Heather blushed a bit. “I didn’t always push Rae in the right direction.”
“But that doesn’t matter. You supported her, you were there for her. That’s what is important. When we couldn’t be there, you were. I owe you a lot Heather.”
We were quiet for a minute as we twirled around the dance floor. I pulled her a bit closer and leaned down.
“I have a secret.” I murmured, feeling her perk up. “I’m going to propose.” I said the words so low and as carefully as possible to not let it been seen from my lips.
“When?” Heather breathed out in excitement.
“In a fortnight.” I replied, smiling. “I have something big planned, Rae isn’t even going to see it coming.”
Heather chuckled as the song ended and the music began to shift into something faster. “Does she ever?” She asked as I grinned.
Josh and Rae joined us on the dance floor. I put my hands on Rae’s waste and we continued to dance as if their was a slow song playing.
“What was that all about?” She asked me suspiciously.
“Nothing.” I grinned. “I was just thanking your sister for everything she’s done.”
Rae nodded as we spun around.
“You know,” She pondered after a minute. “Shouldn’t they be the ones thanking us? Thanking all of us? Because without me and you and the other lads and that ridiculous situation all those years ago, they wouldn’t have met.”
“They would have met,” I replied. “But perhaps not in such a memorable way. And they would have fallen in love still, there was no way it wasn’t going to happen for them. They’re meant to be, you can just tell, you can feel it.”
“You really believe that?” Rae asked.
I nodded. “Of course. When you find the right person, you’re supposed to be with you can tell, you can feel it. In some cases it’s much more obvious. In their case, they knew it right away because neither of them had had their hearts jaded by pain and heartbreak and things that they think are love. They were open and receptive to it. That’s the only difference. We’re meant to be together as much as they are. They just never doubted it when all the signs were pointing them that way. We did because we had to, it was natural. But it doesn’t mean our love isn’t as right.”
Rae smiled and leaned against me, I felt her calm down a bit, I could feel it in the way her body was tense. Perhaps my thoughts from earlier were right. The other weddings hadn’t made her question our relationship much before. But this one, her younger sister’s, it made her wonder if she was ever going to get one of her own. I figured it was time to begin planting the idea.
“You know,” I bent my head to murmur in her ear. “I think I’d very much like to have one of these.” I bit my lip as she looked up at me, giving me a confused and interested look that she was using to mask her excitement. “Wouldn’t you?” I asked.
