with his saber -- "breaking the barrier," if you will. They are both ending the fight being asphyxiated, the hold before release -- Rey releases first, and sees Ben and shouts his name, throwing him the legacy saber. He pierces the guard's helmet -- a gaping hole in the red is NOT a subtle image btw... And then he gives a sigh of release and relief. Both breathing heavily. Also Rey grabs his thigh at the beginning of the fight as he thrusts into her hips. So there's your real sex scene. ;)
To add some fire to your "explosive Force power" theory it came to mind Kylo's saber is a reflection of him & the reason he has a crossguard to his saber is the kyber crystal contained inside is so intensely flawed & powerful that without lateral vents it's described as being at risk of "overloading." Brings to my mind an image of overheating or exploding. Add to that his temper tantrums being a release of aggression to prevent "Force explosion" & the lateral vents make sense symbolically too.
Oooh, those are really cool observations! I think you make some fantastic points here, and they could certainly feed into my theory.
I watched you suffer a dull, aching pain
A CALLOUT
@jediwhinetrick
Your salt is such a mood, memes fresh, and speculation on fire. How do you do it?? You’re such a neat person, and I’m glad to have you in this fandom!

because i love this post from @jediwhinetrick so fucking much due to my own experiences with abuse i went ahead and did one of these thingys
jediwhinetrick replied to your post “So, Rey falls down a hole that presumably represents the dark side....”
Just for reference, but the art book does confirm the silhouettes were meant to be Rey and Kylo -- she was initially supposed to see her reflection as half her own face, and half of Kylo's mask
Oh yeah, I’ve seen the artwork and the quotes that go with it. I’m waiting for my copy of the artbook to be sure, because i like me some context, but from what I’ve seen that picture is an early one? More visual exploration than illustration of the early script. The artist’s said he was working from TFA and “little glints of information from Rian” (x) at this point, and sure it seems to confirms Rey’s final reflection was at some point intended to merge with Kylo’s mask because ESB parallels, but we don’t even know if silhouettes were involved then, and we don’t know how much things changed either.
In any case I’m pretty sure it was taken out/not done not because it’s too obvious a hint to the future, but because it’s paralleling the Luke’s-head-in-Vader’s-mask ESB shot, and that’s all about Luke’s fears, not Rey’s.
I've just submitted my work and (no rush at all!!) but I was curious (for everyone's sake) if we will hear back confirmation of our submissions via email, even if we don't need any adjustments -- just so that we can confirm the email went through. Again, no rush at all -- just not sure how these things work! Also, this is my first time submitting a work like this, so how will it be available for purchase (if you have decided on that yet) once published? Thanks!
You will hear back via email if you sent it to the right address! We will always send a confirmation email of receiving and approving/rejecting your submission. If rejected, we will tell you why, and you have the opportunity to resubmit up until Nov. 15.
None of our projects have been made for purchase right now, but if any of them are going to be printed, we will most likely have a kickstarter event well before printing to make sure people are interested and willing to preorder so we can solidify the details. Of course, all of the costs will be going to printing and shipping only. None of the cost is for profit. Kickstarters will help give us an estimate of how many need to be printed and shipped. It’ll likely be available to purchase through an online store. Once we know more details if we decide to do it, we will let everyone know.
Great questions! Thanks for asking.
