i speak multiple languages and sometimes when i try to go back to english (my first language which i am way more fluent in) my brain just gets stuck and i can't think of any english words for what seems like an embarrassingly long time. do you know if adhd ever causes problems with code switching?
I’ve absolutely, positively had this problem of not understanding English (my primary language) anymore. I speak two other languages fairly well, but I cannot switch among them and English in listening or speaking, and I suck at live translation. I’ve asked other people who speak multiple languages if they have trouble switching, but they usually just look at me like I’m speaking an unknown language! Haha. Incidentally, I don’t seem to have the same problem in reading or writing multilingual messages.
I found a few doctors’ opinions that ADHD makes switching between languages difficult or that it’s really auditory processing disorder if it is difficult, but I can’t find any studies to back that up. As a TESOL-certified educator, I’m super skeptical about the doctors’ opinions that ADHD children shouldn’t be taught multiple languages, but again, I can’t find any neurological or psychiatric studies specifically looking at multiple or secondary language acquisition in ADHDers. Grad student followers, you should study that! Put me in the acknowledgements and send me a copy!

I do know that when I took language classes, this was often something I really struggled with, so I understand what you mean.

tbh it’s annoying but anything else wouldnt be true to her character? like i think that’s legit how republican women think :
oh yeah no definitely i get that but every time it happens it's still like ://// also what is sorkin's obsession w/having his personal stand in character tell women How Things Really Are
