“Shouldn’t you be with him?” Lyanna asked, throwing a football at his head.

“Shut up!!”

“You’re just dreamy-looking at my brother,” she said, throwing the ball at him again.

“I’m not,” Robert argued not taking his eyes away from Ned on the other side of the barbecue party.

“Robert, what’s going on?” she asked again waving her hand in front of his face.

“Sit here, he’s trying to talk with a girl.”

“And you are?”

“Watching.”

“And that’s not creepy.”

“Maybe, but that’s Catelyn Tully.”

“What does that mean?”

“Your brother has had a crush on her since our first year.”

“Seriously?”

“Yes. Just look at what he’s doing?”

“What?”

“Can’t you see his hand?”

“Not really,” she said, and Robert looked incredulous at her, and then took her hand, pointing at her brother.

“Can you see where I’m pointing?”

“Ned?” 

“No, his fingers, look closely.”

“You’re talking about him pulling on his hands - he always does that when nervous.”

“I know.”

“I know you know,” she said. “You should help him.”

“How?”

“We will figure out,” she promised, picking up his hand and pushing him along, closer to where Ned and Catelyn where, and now with both hiding behind a tree, he could do nothing but listen to her.

“And who’s fault is that?” she threw back at him. “I talked with Ned, they can take Jon.”

“Ned knew??”

“He has known for a couple of days and I told him not to tell you. I wanted to be the one to tell you.”

“But you weren’t going to tell me, were you? You were going to leave in the fucking night without a goodbye.”

“It’s a job, Robert. A fucking great one - I’m sick of taking photos at weddings or schools. I would be doing something important.”

“Yes, because weddings aren’t important, you’ve made that clear,” he pointed out looking for her empty finger.

“I can’t say no to this. It’s eight months, I’ll be back.”

“It’s eight months away, Lya. It’s something we should talk about.”

“It’s my fucking life, not yours. Jon and I are my priority.”

“Yeah,” he said, with his voice much lower now, “Have a good flight,” before turning his back to go back to their his bedroom.

“I never thought I’d be this happy,” Lyanna marks in wonder while she lies in Robert’s arms, watching the sunset over the water, the gentle lapping of the waves upon the sand lulling her to dreamland. 

“What does that mean?”

Lyanna pulls his arm off her shoulders that she may sit up, look him in the eye as she tells him, “You know I never wanted this, the whole relationship-marriage thing. I didn’t think that was me. Ned, for sure, but I never saw myself as the type.”

“Are you saying you regret getting married?” He asks, worry plain on his face. It’d been all of two days, this might be the fastest divorce in history.

“No, stupid. Just the opposite. I’m saying that I love you.”
