today's warmup is in honor of the season three house of the dragon trailer dropping this morning
Two WIP for Hotblood, the high fantasy project I’m working on for most of this year
everyone go read the power fantasy right now
A little before and after of the first time I drew Indira a bit over a year ago, and redrawing her portrait today. (She was originally an NPC and now one of the playable characters in LEVIATHAN.) It's fun to see how much my style's changed and anatomy's improved since then!
I meant to publish the remaining three playbooks for Over the Wailing Wind yesterday, but then I got an idea for the societal role that scholars play within the world of the game, which in turn carried significant enough implications for Valenor Grey's playbook that I decided to tinker with it a little more and time it for next week's release schedule. In the mean time, enjoy this sketchbook page, which is going to be available along with more sketches and notes – for Dirtgoblin Community Center members this weekend!
reading starling house by alix e. harrow for the first time and felt like drawing the sad wet cat of a man at the heart of the book
i'm challenging myself to illustrate all of my weekly group's campaigns with at least one illustration per scene, starting with what we're currently playing and backtracking through previous campaigns eventually. these are the sketches from the four scenes from chapter 1 of our current campaign, season 3 of the glass-maker's dragon, by jenna moran. i've got a lot of finessing to do before i move on to the values stufies, but 1) i need to rest my hand bc i unwisely drew for like 30 hours straight lol, and 2) i wanted to share them all together at the rough line stage!
scene guide:
1. natalia gets the good news that her obligation to save the world from monsters tutoring lessons are over and celebrates with hayden at her 16th birthday party
2. rinley and mikhail (natalia's younger brother who we made up for our campaign, the middle sibling in the koutolika family) go for a quiet walk together after a hard day of shrine work for rinley.
3. miramie consoles jasper in the archive after she learns that leonardo's moved out, telling jasper he thinks they need to spend more time apart for jasper's safety.
4. jasper and rinley need help with their studies, which is like the bat signal for natalia (and in this case, revenge against rinley for tricking her into a regular hangout last school break when she thought she would be tutoring him). the gang convenes at the café seizhi works at. natalia, in a coltish mood, shows off her guns for her friends ("no i can't go to the gun show, i can't afford the tickets!" – rinley) and seizhi, witnessing the gun show, has an awakening.
redrawing this composition of natalia, the version on the left was drawn about a year and a half ago, and the pose and comp sketch on the right is one i finished tonight. neither of them used direct references. it's nice to see some tangible evidence i've been improving! i think i'm going to go through a bunch of drawings from the last two years and try redrawing them, just to see how far i've come and where i want to go from here
