Stone Temple Pilots – Three Wishes
4 years ago, on this day (March 8), Johnny Depp attended and was one the special guests on the Stone Temple Pilots’ third concert of their 2018 North American Tour, rocking The Rose, in Pasadena, California.
On that day, Johnny went on stage to play guitar on the last three songs. First he played “Down”, and then with Joe Perry played Aerosmith’s cover of “Toys in the Attic” (making this the first and only time the Stone Temple Pilots performed the song) and “Sex Type Thing”. This show also marks Johnny’s second time as special guest on their tour, after attending and performing on stage on the first show on March 2, 2018.

Okay, I just want to say there will never be another person like Scott. He was such an unique singer and artist. And I will always love him.
BUT I have to say Jeff Gutt is fuckin' great singer. I'm glad he's with STP now. Guys from band look really greatful that they can do what they really love again. I bet it was extremely hard for them in last few years.
In my opinion 'Meadow' keeps the old sound without doing a bad Scottie's rip off. Nobody can replace Scott but Jeff does a great job as a new lead singer. He fits better than Chester. Jeff's paying pretty good tribute to Scott same as William Duvall to Layne babe. Both of these supertalented guys are not trying to replace original singers or imitate them. They're just doing amazing job.
I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEW ALBUM. I bet it will be fuckin' good.

Stone Temple Pilots Debut New Singer; Prep New Album
Like Spinal Tap with drummers and Grateful Dead with keyboardists, Stone Temple Pilots have had a revolving door of vocalists.
The band - whose former singers are the late Scott Weiland and Chester Bennington - unveiled their third frontman, Jeff Gutt, at a private gig in L.A. this week. Gutt, 41, who joins bassist Robert DeLeo, guitarist Dean DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz, is former a member of Dry Cell and recently appeared on “The X Factor.”
”You have dreams about things like this,” Gutt told Rolling Stone for a feature on the new-look STP.
”I still feel a little Mark Wahlberg–ish.“
He was one of 15,000 singers - fewer than 50 of whom landed auditions - who sought to join the group, according to the magazine.
”Jeff came in and did a fantastic job,” Kretz said.
”Not just anybody can sing this catalog,” Dean DeLeo added. “You need someone who really knows how to sing. And Jeff kind of has it all, man. He has that baritone, and he’s also able to get into that tenor world. He’s a real singer.”
The band, with Gutt on board, just wrapped their seventh full-length studio LP. Self-produced and as yet-untitled, the album is set for a spring 2018 release.
”The fact that we recorded all these new songs, it ties into helping us heal from the losses of Scott (who died of an overdose in 2015) and Chester,” who committed suicide earlier this year, Kretz said.
“Because the catalog will always be there. But if the new music really excites us and excites the fans, it has much more of a meaning as far as honoring what Scott and Chester brought to this as well.“
