Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire
I finished the drawing. This is @toonybrue ‘s Jeff Jacobs. He's too cute to not to draw him.
This song semi-shocked me when I first heard it.
I couldn't believe this was Foreigner.
It was fast, a lot of 'ping riding' (the metallic tong tong sound of the drums - very common in metal), some shouting (so unlike Waiting For a Girl Like You). It was very Hard Rock.
Posting only as a point of interest (deviation) from the expected music of a band.
(Something like Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love or Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Close parallel...)
Musicians:
Lou Gramm – vocals, percussion
Mick Jones – guitars, acoustic guitar, bass, piano, keyboards, background vocals
Bruce Turgon – bass, background vocals
Jeff Jacobs – synthesizer, keyboards, background vocals
Mark Schulman – drums, background vocals
Robin Zander – background vocals

Trivia: How did the band get that name?
Quoting Wiki:
Jones came up with the band's name as he, Elliott and McDonald were British, while Gramm, Greenwood and Gagliardi were American, meaning at least half of the band would be foreigners no matter what country they were in.
--
Mick Jones - guitarist, multi-instrumentalist Dennis Elliott - original drummer Ian McDonald - guitar, woodwinds, keyboards (though a multi-instrumentalist, he was also part of King Crimson before Foreigner) Lou Gramm - singer Al Greenwood - keyboards Ed Gagliardi - bass

@brueklynn’s Jeff Jacobs is a fashionable brat, and I love him

Today's Guest: Owen Gleiberman, long-time film critic for Entertainment Weekly, author, "Movie Freak"
OWEN GLEIBERMAN podcast excerpt: "When I first saw 'Spotlight,' I was, 'Yeah, this is great! It's feeding my nostalgia for 'All The President's Men'! It's about when newspapers mattered!' It touched all of my key passion points. But the more I thought about it, I thought it was a good move, but it wasn't great. And I did watch it a second time; if anything, it looked a little less good. The major characters could have been developed more; it's not All The President's Men."
Key interview moments:
• 8:30 Owen Gleiberman talks about the impact of scary, horrific movies on the souls of 12-year-old children (himself included);
• 29:30 Legendary film critic Pauline Kael was an early supporter of Gleiberman's -- she recommended him for the job at 'Entertainment Weekly' -- but she was not an enduring friend to those who disagreed with her film criticism;
• 54:00 Spotlight Movie was a good movie, he says, but it didn't hold up upon repeat viewing.
