MOODBOARD - JEFFMONY (JEFF STERLING & HARMONY PEARCE)
HARMONY: We should have a date night soon. Just saying. JEFF: You really know how to romance a guy, don't you?
"It was a sweet moment. Probably one of the sweetest she’d ever had, but that was to be expected with Jeff. He was just so different from all of the other guys she knew. Even from their friendship she knew that…. Oh, but there was something to worry about. What about their friendship? What if they tried and things didn’t work out and they weren’t able to be friends again? Jeff was one of her very best friends, and she certainly did not want to lose him. She knew she was getting ahead of herself and immediately jumping to the worst possible ending, but it was still something that should probably be considered. Right? All of Harmony’s worries were soon far from her mind as Jeff wrapped an arm around her waist and tilted her chin up. All thoughts were gone from her mind, actually, except for two: I like you and we are definitely about to kiss. “No,” she replied with just a hint of defiance in her voice, hoping Jeff wouldn’t pull away immediately. The only reason she’d answered the way she had was because she wanted to be the one to kiss him first. To surprise him. So she went for it, moving quickly to stand on her toes and press her lips to his. Yup. Definitely too late to take anything back now. And she didn’t want to anyway."
Non-Magical Hogwarts Reprise || Jeffmony
Dalton Academy March 5, 2020
Jeff really loved Harmony. Sometimes he felt like he couldn’t ever express that enough, but he was absolutely in love with this woman. He loved the way she smiled, he loved the way she sang, he loved the look on her face when she came out for curtain call and the entire theatre was filled with the sound of thunderous applause. He loved her when she succeeded and he loved even when she was full of doubts (though he’d do anything to get rid of them). She was one of his best friends, a constant in his life despite his constant movement all over the country. He shared everything with her, and being back home swimming in a sea of nostalgia had him quickly realizing there was one more thing that he had absolutely had to share with her before they left.
“Come on, it’s just up here.” He told her as they cut through the courtyard after he’d shown her around some of Dalton’s grounds. The campus really was beautiful. He’d never taken the time to appreciate it when he’d gone there, but now he could see how lucky he was to go to non-magical Hogwarts (or gay Hogwarts as it was more commonly known). Letting go of Harmony’s hand to open the door for her to walk through, he flashed her a smile before following in after her and closing the door. Immediately he felt like his bones were defrosting as the school’s central heating melted off the icy chill from outside.
Defrosted and excited he began leading her down another hallway. He’d already shown her all the main attractions, the grand staircase, the dorms and all his old stomping grounds (now being promptly stomped on by fresher, younger faces), but there was one more thing he wanted to show her while they were here. Well, there were a million things he wanted to show her, and maybe one day he finally would, maybe with their child in tow. Just like his parents had shown him around their university where they’d met. It was in a show choir competition that he’d initially met Harmony, after all. It could be a family trip one day. Jeff smiled to himself as he entertained the thought, wondering when he’d started thinking about family all of a sudden. But then he realized that Harmony and their child would be his family, and maybe he was just finally starting to grow into his new role.
“Here it is.” He said, stopping in front of a large trophy case (more like cases). It’d been a long time, and there were so many new names and awards filling the shelves. But Dalton loved its history and they kept everything they could as far as school wins went. Which is why after some careful searching he finally found it. “There.” He said, pointing at a section housing all the Warbler wins over the years, specifically the ones ranging from 2009-2013. All hanging over annual pictures of the Warblers from the years he went to school. “I know it’s weird taking you here, but we’ve spent the last few days with your old choir talking about your old McKinley family. Thought I’d show you my family from when I was here.” He explained, reaching out to take her hand in his. “These guys were– most of them still are brothers to me. They were my family when I didn’t think I really had one.” He looked down at her and gave her a soft smile, his thumb absentmindedly grazing over the back of her hand. “So I kind of wanted to share this with you.”
Like baby, baby, baby– No || Jeffmony
It felt like everything had changed since last night. Like there was some great cosmic shift and his world would never be the same again. And that was just with the possibility of parenthood, Jeff didn’t even know what he would do when it was real and in front of him. If it was, he reminded himself, he wasn’t sure yet. He still needed to talk to Harmony, and he knew he had to. They couldn’t keep going on like everything was business as usual when it was far from. They had an issue to deal with, but like all issues they would deal with it together. He had enough faith in them to know they could do that. They were both mature, rational adults. The only problem was, he had absolutely no idea how to even bring this up.
He’d tried, honestly he had. But every time he made the attempt the words got jumbled up in his throat and by the time he figured out a way to sort them out he’d gotten distracted by something, just one excuse after the other. He had a shower to take, a breakfast to make, a call to fake. Yeah, just when they’d sat down for the french toast he’d made for breakfast he suddenly panicked wondering if pregnant woman could eat eggs, or syrup, or toast. Then he realized he had no idea what he was supposed to do to help anymore and pulled out his phone under the guise of making a last minute call. He just didn’t know what to do. But he was no longer able to harass Cooper over the phone, who had exasperatedly sent him on his way to confront whatever issues he was too afraid to face on his own. Really, his friends were totally unhelpful when he was trying to avoid a serious conversation. Taking a deep breath he pocketed the phone and walked back to the table where they were supposed to be enjoying breakfast.
“Liking the French toast?” He asked with a small smile as he slid back into his seat and picked up his fork. Right, he could do this. He just needed to be straight forward and honest, but open and understanding. That wasn’t too hard, this was only Harmony. Looking up at his girlfriend, he set down his fork and opened his mouth. “Hey b...eautiful,” He had begun to say baby, like he often did absentmindedly when he called her pet names, before thinking better of it last second. This might be more difficult than he initially thought. “Think you can...pass me the syrup?” He asked, mentally kicking himself for chickening out. It wasn’t too late to salvage this, he just needed to go for it and start talking. “And um, also, maybe want to talk about the positive test in your trash?”
