Wind’s Gonna Find a Way by Kris Delmhorst (featuring Jeffrey Foucault) live from the Back Pasture at the Red Ants Pants Music Festival
Last night I drank the breath of horses Falling underneath the waves Of an empty AM ocean singing Silent as the grave
The moon was cold as cathode light Rising up above the plain Last night I dreamed of television And my tears fell down like rain.

Former Morphine, Treat Her Right Drummer Billy Conway Dies at 65
- “He (was) the time, the rhythm, the pulse of the life-blood in the music,” collaborator Chris Smither says
Billy Conway, the former Treat Her Right and Morphine drummer, has died of cancer at age 65.
His Dec. 19 death was announced by his former bandmates in Vapors of Morphine.
“We are devastated to learn of the passing of Morphine/Treat Her Right drummer Billy Conway,” Vapors said on social media.
“One of the best drummers and most stalwart friends, Billy succumbed to a long battle with cancer. We love you, Billy. Give (late Morphine frontman) Mark (Sandman) our love. RIP.”
After Sandman’s 1999 death and Morphine’s disbandment, Conway went on play with a number of artists, including Jeffrey Foucault, John Statz and Chris Smither. The latter recalled telling his sister the drummer was “a prince,” and her asking what Smither meant by that honorific.
“I said, ‘He’s someone who makes you feel good just by being around,’” Smither wrote on Facebook “ … ‘Because … he is the time, the rhythm, the pulse of the life-blood in the music. He deals in matters of the heart.’
“We’ve lost him now, and my heart is heavy, indeed,” Smither said. “Rest in peace, Billy.”

Like much of the destiel-leaning fandom, I am currently having lots of Feelings about the season 13 premiere & trying to channel them into a post-12x23 fic that I’ve been wrangling for weeks. Shared this song in the Pinefest chat because it really resonates with me (& not to mention brings the pain), and thought it was prudent to share it here too because the lyrics are so beautiful & poignant.
It’s just flashes that we own Little snapshots Made of breath and of bone And out on the darkling plain alone They light up the sky It’s 51 and driving south Ain’t it funny How things’ll turn out I never even kissed you on the mouth When we said goodbye…

Step outside, let the stars reel around you, Cup your hands around the bright flame, In that darkness, let the heavens confound you. It's all just a story, even the sound of your name.
