Work in Progress update: Some in progress shots of the pieces in my upcoming series. Each piece is 70 x 62 inches oil on canvas. These works are inspired by the Photography of Dorothea Lange, mainly focusing on her Great Depression Era photography. As I reimagine Lange’s work from a modern day context, I made sure to include faces and stories who were familiar to me. A critical component to art is it’s ability to document a time in history, and all of it’s occupants. I aim to contribute to the long conversation being had throughout history with my art. Farmer’s Daughter Revisited 24”x24” Oil on panel SOLD This commissioned painting was inspired by the photography of Dorothea Lange. Lange’s work is notorious for documenting people during The Great Depression along with all of the hardships and uncertainty many of her subjects faced. With help from @riccowrites and @chris_mac73, this idea of revisiting history and making those who were omitted in the past, visible in the present spawned the beginning of a new series. In these paintings, I look to tell similar stories, from the perspective of faces that are familiar to me.
