Staying Motivated
The most prominent desire for living a fit lifestyle, whether it be lifting, yoga, pilates, or eating a clean diet, is change. However, it’s through social media like Facebook and Instagram and Tumblr that I’ve seen a major obsession with change in appearance. Do I think caring about how toned you look is vain and horrible? Not at all. However, I truly think many people lose motivation and become disheartened when their body doesn’t look the way they expected to when they started their fitness journey months ago.
If you are one of these people, someone that just isn’t seeing the physical results, let’s change your mindset.
Let’s try to focus a little less on what your body LOOKS like and what your body can DO. Your glutes may not be the perfect peach shape you work so hard for, but I’m willing to be you can squat and lunge for more reps and sets than you could when you started. You may not hit your macros every day, but you are probably much more aware of exactly what it is you’re putting in your body. You may not see progress in appearance, but you ARE PROGRESSING. Let’s set our goals a little differently.
Connect your mind to the muscle, to the run, to the stretch. Think less about how yours abs look, and more about how your core can support you and keep you stable. Think less about what your arms look like compared to that Instagram model, and more about their strength, how they lift and push and pull.
