Rent lowering gunshots here. I feel like whenever people design Hyde, based on word of mouth from the Victorian age saying that he’s ugly, and then make him ugly exactly as they imagined, is kind of feeding into a lot of ableist ideas of what ugliness looks like.
I mean, a lot of people still assume that goodness = beauty -> therefore -> ugliness = evil.
What makes Hyde ugly besides the fact that he was deemed ugly? What are the features that people from that era deem ugly? What are the features that people from this era deem ugly? Couldn’t you have carried the same biases as the previous generations did?
What I’m saying is that since they’re the same person after all, if one is ugly then so should the other one be. What makes him ugly is not about physical features but about expression. Like a contorted face wearing an unreadable expression. Something that scares the average person into saying that’s hideous. Because ugliness is tied to fear of badness as I’ve mentioned. On the other end of the spectrum, just by appearing prim and proper, you could fool just about anyone into thinking you’re a good person, regardless of what you’re hiding. So in the end, I think the fact that Hyde is described as hideous (an intended pun) is because he is honest with his cruelty and not hiding it behind nicety.
I keep seeing Jekyll and Hyde fanart on my timeline and half of it looks like this
I’ve never read the book, mind you. Have no idea how accurate this is lol
LCB-3 -> Future Chapters
So like, couldn't sleep so i grinded like, four chapters. https://archiveofourown.org/works/70448011/chapters/212337496 I don't think I'll be posting this one on tumblr anymore, it's too much work. Here is the link to the Ao3 for the rest of Canto 2 and beyond. Make sure to sub to this for future updates on the story: https://archiveofourown.org/series/4351342

Hyde hysterically laughs while the entire bus attempts to stop Jekyll
An indulgent sketch. The height of my ship art as an aroace is drawing them dancing together.
Some other versions i made.
The idea behind this is that Jekyll is taking his sugar baby (I mean himself) to a formal party, but instead of dancing with anyone then he's just having fun dancing with Hyde like they were children. The sketch I made in my head had Hyde contorting his body in a weirder way, but I couldn't quite translate that to image. I wanted it to look like they clearly belonged to different worlds, but they're still enjoying themselves without a care in the world.
Jekyll is gorgeous man. This too is yuri. If you've ever seen someone's hair light up in the ballroom light... I shudder to imagine.
DREAM TRAM Sinner #2 HYDE
Source: Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Parallels: Faust
Colour: Cotton Candy Pink #ffbcd9
This is an updated post. I couldn't stand how the previous version looked. He looks like a hobo. It pissed me off. So I redrew it. Story is also updated because I wasn't thinking well last time.
Story section:
Sinner #2 of the Dream Tram, Edward Hyde. Originally, Limbus Company sought to recruit doctor Henry Jekyll, but an unfortunate accident had occurred, resulting in the invitation of Hyde in his stead. Despite lacking any qualifications that Limbus Company seeks, he is enthusiastic in assisting with combat and improving quality of life for everyone on the tram.
Please note, dear Manager, that this Sinner is extremely irresponsible and may incite a strike against the company should he ever feel like it.
Their titles are so funny.
