I've seen a lot of people speculate that Rumi is sort of named after her mother (Ryu Miyeong -> Ryu+Mi- -> Rumi), which is a very sweet or tragic, if it was Celine naming her idea and I'm not here to criticize it! But here's another theory: Rumi is actually named after her mother's favorite poet.
Jelaluddin Rumi, better known as simply Rumi, was a 13th-century Persian scholar and Sufi mystic. He's now one of the most influential poets in history, across the globe. His writing is intensely spiritual, contemplating the most transcendent aspects of the human experience: love, grief, friendship, nature, humor, the search for wisdom, longing for the divine, loneliness, silence, music, beauty...
It might just be the universality of his work, but I found that some of Rumi's poems are very KPDH-coded and speak to the deeper themes that the movie's worldbuilding points to.
Idk...Maybe Miyeong was a lyricist for some of the Sunlight Sisters' music back in the day. Maybe she was really into poetry. If I were her, I would consider naming my kid after the person who wrote this:
All day and night, music, a quiet, bright reedsong. If it fades, we fade.
And this:
(from ALL RIVERS AT ONCE) Don't unstring the bow. I am your four-feathered arrow that has not been used yet. I am a strong knifeblade word, not some "if" or "maybe," dissolving in air. I am sunlight slicing the dark....
