Freshly baked #pandesal courtesy of @ukulenny! Apparently the same recipe used to "woo" me...ha! -- Five years ago this season, I received a text from a college acquaintance and El Sobrante neighbor with whom I'd recently reconnected.

He had baked some pandesal and would I like some?

I accepted, sensing some potential (for what, I wasn't yet sure), and at the very least I was getting to share in some fresh-out-the-oven pandesal! (🙌🏾)

Little did we know that the little roll of bread would spark an endless number of cultural and carb-filled adventures together!!! Happy pandeversary, @ukulenny.

Real-talk

Funny thing–I flipped through my teen bible and came across the intro to The Book of Ruth, and whaddya know: the intro mentions that the book recounts the family tree of King David! (Not?) coincidentally, I’m working on my family tree right now and have made it one of my long-term goals to actually work to its completion :) Sounds like I’m on the right path, thanks, Lord!

Really happy that Lenny and I were able to walk around the lake together in our new keens (lol--at his suggestion!), cook dinner together, and that we were able to watch the penultimate episode of GoT S5 together–so freaking epic!

Also, it was a gorgeous freakin day in the bay.

buying a car

our first! thanks to cesar and our parents for giving us some really good tips:

see what you might be able to prequalify for with other banks. you can use it as ammo at the dealership.

know what you want (and don’t want).

expect for the dealer to low-ball you--always communicate your more-than-ideal situation so that they can meet you in your ideal one ;)

Don’t talk numbers--they’ll pounce on that like nothing.

make sure to have comprehensive coverage for your new vehicle.

research what the up-sell services are the dealer will offer.

be prepared to walk away.

don’t give a time limit--if you try to hurry out of there you might overlook some things.

Stayed home from work today to finish up the NEH compliance plan and to take a bit of a break afterwards from the chaos of this week. i appreciate that our office is flexible when it comes to schedules!

got to hang with rox today at her new office and to also see lenny for a bit before heading out for drinks with JQ, Hil, & SD :) always good times.

Hilary talked to me about her new relationship with an old flame, and her realization that HE is the one she wanted to spend her time with. No one is perfect, people have flaws, and there will always be doubts that plague your mind. You just have to ask yourself if you’re willing to make it work. Sometimes, too, we wonder whether the grass could be greener elsewhere--but once the honeymoon phase is over, there will always be issues to work out, no matter who you’re with.

Looking forward to date night in Berks! Work was good. I'm really getting things back into focus. Being at the farmers market makes me happy. :)

Lenny is the best

He knew I was swamped and stressed and sleep-deprived so he did a bunch of much-needed work for me on the ACPA gala silent auction--without me asking him :)
