AH…………… My favorite thing about oc creation is the naming process! Every single one of my OCs names is some kind of play on words either about what they are or who they are. I spend obscene amounts of time on https://www.behindthename.com/ & using https://www.indifferentlanguages.com/ for inspiration… I love trying to find the right meaning / sound combination until it’s perfect, it gives me so much satisfaction lmao.
my second favorite part of oc-creation is doing a rough doodle and then giving it to my beautiful spouse to do a full illustration of them…. not a lot compares to watching my wife somehow know exactly what i meant with my scribbles & translating it to a fully realized character.

As for world building– i really love figuring out the history behind a story, and trying to justify all of the stupid shit that I want to do. i.e. I wanted a neon cityscape in a high fantasy world and THAT means magic technology, which means magic engineers, which means Magic Technicians, which means… etc, etc.
