okay so lets say that the sad "lets kill off Jason Todd poll" never existed, or at least Jason didn't die. But, the all of the Robins still existed and turned into their independent identities and etc.. How do you think Jason would've turned out? Do you think he still would've been the Red Hood?

i think there are two ways this could’ve played out. the first one is dc doesn’t know what kind of interesting character they have in their hands (they only discovered jason’s true potential after they brought him back anyway, so that’s the most likely possibility) and since a good percentage of the fans keep hating him, the writers start treating him poorly. zero character development, maybe some mentioning here and there for the sake of appearances

the second one’s if dc started seeing jason as they do now. so they actually work with him, give him the same kind of attention the rest of the important characters get. todd blossoms, he gets his own story line, he’s not just another “wayne boy” who appears in maybe one or two action panels, half of them being wayne and his kids welcoming people at a manor’s charity ball. this option gets two suboptions. a? the more realistic one: jason’s probably the happiest kid right after dick. he makes banter like usual but he’s in control of his actions. he’s not punching people nearly to death like he did as a younger robin. the anger isn’t there anymore, he’s found a family and he gets better and better. bruce has probably commended him on that too. he’s the sparky-with-a-bit-weirder (and shocking)-humour-than-everyone-else young man. he’s happy. this my favourite option and i’d sacrifice my firstborn to see it but as we know it’s not a viable one when it comes to dc. which brings us to:

suboption b. it’s i’m afraid what comics do to spice things up. jason does become red hood, but later on, not as a kid. maybe the joker killed him 5-10 years later, after he had realized his full potential, after he had even more to lose than he lost in the actual story. bruce. alfred. his brothers and sisters that didn’t hate him now, because he grew up fighting crime alongside him and they accepted him. so he dies, comes back to life, and since the love he had was more intense, he probably becomes a more intense antihero too. antihero verging on actual villain? if dc wants to go down the happily ever after path (yeah like they ever do) somehow it’s all blamed on the lazarus pit affecting him for more time than usual but he ends up getting back to his senses. maybe he gets back to fighting crime, maybe not. but his family is there

or maybe he becomes an even bigger villain than the joker and his story ends with a bullet in the head. wonderful stuff, really /cries
