JiMel - That time Disney fans created a ship years before Jelsa
Yup, young fans would be surprised that older generations did exactly what was done about Elsa who had no known canonical love interest.
Tbh, I don't ship Jelsa as I am one of the individuals who see the snow queen as a lesbian icon. Shipping her with Jack isn't bad but Elsa being a lesbian makes way more sense to me.
Okay now back to JiMel or Jelody.
It is quite understandable. Despite the differences in timelines and genres such as Sci Fi on Treasure Planet and Fantasy on the little mermaid trilogy, I think it was genius for fans to make this fanon ship noticeable.
I only watched Treasure Planet once but I still remember parts of the plot, though I may have to rewatch the entire movie so I'll know what I'm doing when writing the fanfic.
So first I am going to try a Melody standalone story THEN create a pairing with Jim.
These two are a bit similar. Adventurers, rebellious.
Melody is the only character who is canonically born as the daughter of a Disney Princess. Before you correct me about the Descendants movies, that is a Disney channel content totally not connected to the actual Disney Princess lore. Like the Malificent movie and movie sequel proved that.
Now I like the JiMel ship as it's like a classic teen story between troublemaker and charming misunderstood girl.
I like the idea of Jim being a sailor, twenty something year old and melody who is slightly younger but still above 18. Especially when Melody chose to be a mermaid for the rest of her life. Some people wrote some fanfics where Jim is a pirate.
There is also the idea where in a modern AU, Jim and Melody have y2k teen romance. That's so cute, quirky but I'm sure there is still adventure and things like solar surfers and jamaican accent crabs are still in the story. Nobody wants a Little Mermaid movie without the iconic Sebastian, don't argue because you're also struggling to imagine the franchise without him.
I know some Disney fans prefer Jim x Ariel. Not saying its wrong but those people forget how much Ariel loves Eric. If not then Ariel wouldn't have made a deal with Ursula and there would be no movie. So if the Disney Princess already had a love interest in the first movie and married leading to a child in the sequel...yeah the controversy gets more messy than it is.
I think this ship deserves more attention. Especially when its May cuz you already know why.
Like, Platonically.
I have seen artworks of the ship between Jim Hawkins and Melody in the past, and thought it was time to finally do a collage on JiMel.
My reimagined, character-recasted take on the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Synopsis: Think you know a pirate's life? Think again when there are two sides to every story, savvy!
The familiar, cherished, and beloved hit Pirates of the Caribbean gets reimagined in a whole new way as the unexpected, mysterious, and surprising animated adaptation remake of the original live-action film series of the same name, which is loosely based on a theme park attraction - by flipping the script, reimagining big events from the films in unexpected ways that may look a little different, and -- most of all -- starring and featuring an array of beloved Disney characters from different franchises of original animated films (and its sequel films), video games, animated TV series from Disney Television Animation and beyond with its character-recasted, gender-swapped makeover! After being branded a pirate for freeing the slaves from the East India Trading Company, young seawoman Jacklyn "Jade" Sparrow (Shank from Ralph Breaks the Internet) went on a different path to make her own way in the world, leading her to become one of the most infamous pirates -- and former Pirate Lords -- to ever sail the seas. With her ship, the Black Pearl, and treating her crew fairly with refined words, Jade can sometimes be a bit of a rogue trying to work on a better angle. But not everything is smooth sailing when Jade's pirate life is turned upside down by the blackguard Hecuba Barbossa (Calista Jane "CJ" Hook from Descendants: Wicked World), who has plans of her own when she started a mutiny against Jade by leaving her and some crewmates stranded on an island and stealing the Black Pearl. In her gallant attempts to get back her ship, Jade got her crewmates safely to Tortuga and headed alone to the town of Port Royal to find a ship to commandeer. But a chance encounter with a ragtag assortment of characters led to a series of epic events when Port Royal was under sieged by Hecuba and her crew who are cursed to be undead by the heathen gods and kidnapped the governor's son, Evan Swann (Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet). Jade is forced into an unlikely alliance with Evan's childhood friend, a young tomboyish girl named Willia Turner (Melody from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea), who has no patience for pirates and is determined to save the young man she loves while she is unknowingly the daughter of Jade's old shipmate. Overcoming their differences, the unlikely, odd pair managed to escaped the Royal Navy, defeated Hecuba and the curse, and saved Willia's beloved...while Jade finally got back something she lost. But after getting her ship back, Jade and her crew got caught up in some supernatural trouble once again in the form of a tortured soul named Davida Jones (Shego from Kim Possible), who Jade made a deal with years ago. Now Davida is expecting Jade to pay her debt by handing herself over to eternal servitude aboard her legendary Flying Dutchman. Willia and Evan have also come to Jade's aid when their happily ever after and wedding plans were ruined by privateer and pirate hunter Lady Currin Beckett (Larxene from the Kingdom Hearts series) of the East India Trading Company that branded Jade a pirate years ago. Now she is determined to find the fabled Dead Woman's Chest (which Jade was going to use to free herself of her debt) to gain control of Davida Jones. With this awesome power, Lady Beckett plans to wipe out every single pirate in the Caribbean off the map and will take control of the highly waters, ushering in a new, darker age where businessmen and bureaucrats like herself are the true pirates...while fun-loving buccaneers like Jade and her crew faced extinction. Soon, the battle for the Caribbean and the freedom of pirates everywhere is ravaged with adventure, excitement, suspense, drama, comedy, friendship, romance, and heart, ultimately resulting in Jade's mishaps, Evan's actions, and Willia's tear-jerking reunion with her long-lost mother, Willamette "Mermaidstrap Bertha" Turner (Ariel from The Little Mermaid). With the help from a shaky alliance of newfound friends and surprising cohorts, Jade, Willia, and Evan will have to do battle with rowdy rivals, wicked adversaries, and epic dangers of the sea to preserve the pirate's way of life and freedom in the only way they know how: "Take what you can, and give nothing back". Based on and inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean films, discover a new side of the story you haven’t heard in this animated House of Mouse-style crossover parody remake. CAST:
