Spectacular Duo (Redone)
Chapter 1: New Girl, New Problems
Men in beanie masks were running across rooftops, already on the hunt by New York Police Department officers.
“Run faster will you! We’re almost in the clear.” One of the men yelled. Then a silky string attached itself onto the man and pulled him up. The device he was holding was snatched away. The figure that webbed him made a ‘tsk’ disapproval sound.
“Spider-Man?” The men asked as they pulled out their high technological firearms. The figure leaped over them and emerged from the shadows.
“You guys have a lot to learn about superheroes.” A woman in white, black and pink suit with a hood over her mask said as she cracked her knuckled. Her pink outlined lenses narrowed.
“Ghost Spider?! Quick, kill her before she kills us!” The man barked and all three men opened fire. Ghost Spider dodged incoming energy beams, as she used her webs to yank each weapon off the men’s grip. She then punched one man and kicked the other two in the face.
Police sirens were heard from below and Ghost Spider sighed. She walked to the men in the web cocoons with a dangerous approach. “Listen here, punks.” She said with pure annoyance. “You’re going to do me a little favor. Tell the NYPD where you got the tech and tell them that I stopped you.”
“We ain’t telling—mphf!” One man yelled but Ghost Spider webbed him in the mouth. Only muffled noises were made from the man.
“Don’t piss me off…” Ghost Spider spoke with acid. The men whimpered in fear. She carried the men to the edge of the rooftop where the NYPD were waiting right below. “Get ready for a bungee jump—,”
“Freeze Ghost Spider!” A female police officer warned from behind the masked woman. Ghost Spider slumped but still had her back facing the officer. The spider looked over her shoulder and the officer held her at gunpoint. “Don’t you dare throw these men off the building.”
“Officer Stern, I think? You came just in the nick of time!” Ghost Spider spoke all cheery and joyful. “Glad you’re here, these men are all yours!” She said as she tossed the cocooned men at the cop.
“You should join them. You are under arrest for the murder of Kevin Krossford—,”
“Please! Like I’d kill an innocent boy.” Ghost Spider interjected with a bored tone. The officer began to fire once Ghost Spider walked to her. The spider leaped over the officer and took her gun, tossing it off the building. “I just handed criminals over to you instead of killing them. I’m not so bad. See you around copper!” Ghost Spider gave a fake salute and leaped off the building, swinging away into the night.
Officer Stern switched on her Walkie-Talkie. “Officer Stern, potential suspects on the rooftop of the West Street building, suspect Ghost Spider escaped the scene.”

One morning, a girl with long raven dark wavy hair and wearing red lipstick and blue academia feminine outfit walked to the entrance. She walked elegantly but cautious from stares of Midtown High School students. She tried to pay no mind to them. Then she heard a loud crash in a classroom. Walking in, she noticed a girl on top of a pile of school student desks. The girl had chest length blonde hair, punk crop vest and black long baggy jeans with sneakers. She was groaning and slowly stood up. As she dusted herself, she noticed the dark haired Asian girl looking at her.
“What?” The blonde girl glared.
“Did you make this mess?” The Asian girl asked.
“No, it was the Hulk.” The blonde responded sarcastically. She started walking to the door, passed the other girl, only for the Asian girl to extend her arm, blocking the path to the door. “What are you doing?”
“Saving you from punishment for vandalism. You and I are going to clean this classroom.”
“Who died and made you queen?” The blonde glared.
“You’re not walking out of here until desks are placed back to its proper position.” The Asian girl ordered.
“Or what?”
“Or I call the teachers from a few classrooms down. Earning you expulsion but if they walk by and see us cleaning then neither of us will be in trouble.” The Asian girl explained.
“I don’t care what teachers think.”
“Your parents will.” The Asian girl said and the blonde girl grumbled. She walked to the desks and lifted them up with ease. “Wow, you’re strong…”
“You gonna stand there swooning or are you going to help?” The blonde girl said in an annoyed tone. The Asian girl blushed but hid it as she helped lift up some desks.
Once the desks were placed neatly, the blonde girl and Asian girl dusted their hands. The noticed each other and the blonde girl smiled. The bell rang and students came in. Some kids noticed the blonde girl.
“Gwen Stacy, what happened to you?” A dark haired black girl asked.
“Hello to you too Gloria Grant.” Gwen greeted in a mocking bow. The Asian girl laughed at that. The girl named Glory just frowned at the Asian girl.
“Who are you and how do you know Gwen?” Gloria asked.
“Students, please be seated. I will not repeat myself.” The female teacher spoke from her front desk facing the whole class. Students were seated. “Now, before we begin, I’d like to introduce an exchange student all the way from South Korea. Class, meet Ami Han. Ami, could you stand up for the class to see you?”
The same Asian girl who cleaned the classroom with Gwen stood up and smiled awkwardly. Gwen, who was seated next to her just stared at the new student in surprise. But then returned her focus back to her notebook. As Ami sat back down, the class continued with the lesson. The girl kept glancing at Gwen with curiosity and noticed the blonde was quietly humming a tune.
Gwen would stare back at the new girl who immediately looked away and gave the teacher most of her attention. Once class was done, the teacher made one last request for the day. “Now class, remember that next week there may be a test on your first week homework so I suggest you do it and hand it in on time. Ami, feel free to ask anyone in this class to be your guide around school for today.”
“Uh, teacher?” One boy spoke up. “Why does she choose? Some of us have extra-curricular activities.”
“Is that so? Anyone here willing to be Ami’s guide?” The teacher asked. Some students were now awkwardly silent. Silent enough for imaginary cricket sounds to be heard.
“Well, I would be more than happy to have Gwen Stacy be my guide.” Ami said and the blonde looked at Ami in surprise and disbelief.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes we are already well acquainted.” Ami smiled and some students seemed worried while other snickered. Some muttered about Ami making a death wish by choosing Gwen Stacy. The new girl just ignored them.
During school, Gwen felt bothered by Ami following her but sighed and gave her the tour. “Okay, here is the assembly hall where stuff like cheesy plays and teachers making boring speeches happen.” Gwen explained before walking ahead. “You already know the hallways. The traffic jam is a nightmare because of how narrow it is. Over there is the art room, anyone who thinks they’re Picasso or Leonardo Da Vinci hangs out there.” Gwen moved along to the gym. “Over here is where the obnoxious jock jerks and prissy cheerleaders reign. Here the kind of sports happening are basketball, netball, gymnastics, volleyball and cheerleading performance.”
“Volleyball? When do tryouts start?”
Gwen just laughed, “Seriously? You wanna be a bossy clean freak to them too?”
Ami glared, “I was an excellent player of that sport.”
“What a shame…the new girl is sporty.”
“Sports is productive and healthy. Better than detention.” Ami countered.
“I don’t always have detention! I also have activities to do in school.”
“Like what?”
“I’m part of the music department.” Gwen boasted. Ami was surprised but then started laughing, thinking that was a joke. Gwen glared but then moved on with the tour, and here is the music department.” She revealed that they arrived to a room filled with marching band instruments and music band instruments, as well as music notes. The place was decorated in a fun manner. Then Gwen moved on. “And here is where the student council operates. They rule the school and are the most popular rule makers and even planners. I did not vote for the current regime.” Gwen frowned. “And, that’s everywhere in school I’ve guided you through, you know where to go tomorrow so later.” Gwen walked to the school front entrance and headed out.

Three individuals entered a warehouse somewhere in Manhattan harbor. The individuals were a humanoid insect figure with butterfly wings and a lab coat, one looked like an feminine imp demon with long dark hair, red skin with white marks and a tail, the other being a shark-bear hybrid.
One man appeared before them, his face concealed under his fedora. “A-Trio I presume?” The unknown man asked.
“In the flesh.” The insect man said. “Let us skip the greetings and get to the reason why you summoned us.”
“Very well. I, The Gentleman, was sent by the big man to recruit worthy candidate for the cause of total domination. But, it isn’t gonna be easy with super freaks in tacky costumes squatting around in this city.”
“So you want us to eliminate every hero?” The mutate insect arched an eyebrow.
“No, as far as they know, The big man is dormant so no one knows anything about our plan. There is one hero however who is actually onto us and proven quite an interference.” The Gentleman opened his laptop to reveal a female masked hero swinging around town similar to Spider-Man’s movements. “She goes by the name Ghost Spider, responsible for the death of a teenage boy and the coppers are hyper focused on turning her in. Yet despite being a murderer, she’s still picking fights with our lackeys and delaying the cause. That’s why I summoned you, the best assassins money can buy, the sooner you eliminate this skank, the easier our plans will be.” The Gentleman explained.
“Don’t worry Mr. Gentleman, this female spider rip-off will be as good as dead.”
Ghost Spider was swinging into a bank where a robbery was in pursuit that night. She pulled out her phone to check the key notes she typed down from NYPD case files. These were definitely the same men who hijacked alien technology.
“So many ways this tech could’ve solved world problems and make the world a better place, yet these bozos use it for crime…” She narrowed her lenses. “Still, gotta act fast before the NYPD arrive,” She swung to the bank entrance. It was a good thing there weren’t any hostages, then again it was night so work hours were over. As she walked in, she leaned on the safe latch and just looked at the criminals trying to put paper money in their black sack bags. None of them noticed the heroin casually standing behind them. She then cleared her throat to gain their attention and the men turned to Ghost Spider. “Paper money? Really guys, other twenty-first century criminals would just steal credit card information.”
The men pulled out some odd looking firearms, once they started shooting laser beams. Ghost Spider dodged in an agile manner. She cartwheeled and back-flipped out of crossfire.
“I’m out of here! Keep shooting her while we head out.” One of the robbers ordered. Ghost Spider successfully shot her webs at the high tech gun front barrel, the thug fired but the gun exploded. The man screamed and grunted in pain as he dropped the gun. Ghost Spider acted quickly and kicked the man unconscious before webbing him to the floor. She noticed the other men making a run for it to their getaway car. The heroin chased after them but the criminals threw flash grenades at her, causing an unpleasant feeling.
“That does it!” Ghost Spider said in mock anger as she managed to run out, the car began driving away but the spider started swinging after them. As she was swinging after them, she tried ignoring the sound of a helicopter.
The helicopter, piloted by the A-Trio followed her. The insect man hummed. “Teams, let’s squash us a bug.”
Ghost Spider was swinging to the armed men and landed on their vehicle. She slammed her open palm on the car. Some men started shooting up the car roof, causing the heroin to leap up into the air and swing after them from a higher position where they can’t fire.
The A-Trio were watching, “This freak is persistent on chasing those amateurs but I’m not complaining if it’s keeping her busy. Target in range, now locked.”
A net was fired at Ghost Spider. Her spider senses were ringing but she didn’t dodge the net in time. As she was falling, she managed to shoot a web string at a gargoyle which stopped her falling. The gargoyle was pulled down and Ghost Spider resumed falling but only from a short height. Landing with a thud down, she moved out of the way to dodge the falling gargoyle.
The A-Trio moved down. “Bumble, Terror, you’re up next.” The insectoid ordered and his teammates descended down a rope from the aircraft. The demon imp and the bear-shark hybrid approached the spider who managed to free herself from the net. She noticed the two approaching her, they seemed to be ready for combat.
“Whoa, am I seriously witnessing horror movie villains?” Ghost Spider joked before the demon imp pulled out a pole stick and leaped at her. The spider managed to dodge but the imp was far more agile. Ghost Spider tried shooting a web at her but she used her pole to twist off the web. The bear-shark hybrid grabbed the spider into a bear hug, squeezing her tight. The hybrid smiled and growled. “Look pal, ease up with the canned fish ‘Kay?” Ghost Spider grunted. Fortunately for the spider, she was skilled in slipping out of most types of containment. She managed to free her arm and hit the bear-shark in the eyes with enhanced force. The hybrid roared in pain and released the spider. As he rubbed his eyes, Ghost Spider turned to find the demon charging at her. Ghost Spider sighed, “Okay, you guys must be getting tired. Right?” She said. Her spider sense was ringing and she front flipped to the edge of the rooftop. A laser beam was fired a few inches before the spider, coming from a helicopter.
“Ah-ah-ah, no ditching this rodeo Bug-Girl. The A-Trio need your head for the green. No turning tails.” The pilot of the helicopter announced while hovering the craft around her.
“Seriously?! Who the hell are you guys?” Ghost Spider narrowed her lenses to show she was annoyed. The imp charged again but Ghost Spider immediately kicked her in the stomach and swiftly snatched the pole. She threw it over the rooftop edge and then webbed the imp in a web cocoon. “Look, I’m not a coward but I was after some criminals before you guys rudely showed up unannounced so can we reschedule this for another night? Cool?” Ghost Spider jumped off the rooftop and was about to start swinging when the bear-shark jumped after her and held her again. “You may be strong but are you sticky?” Ghost Spider said as she used her attachment feet to the building window wall. The bear shark unintentionally let go of the spider and started falling. Ghost Spider shot a web at his bear paws. “Now I advise you not to tear this web line because well…look down and you’ll know.” Ghost Spider said and she tied her end of the web line around a flag pole.
Ghost Spider swung to where her little tracker signaled mentally. A symbiote gooey spider that was from her lab created symbiote DNA. Making it to a warehouse, she crawled in and shifted invisible. There was a whole open area where the criminals were checking out their weapon.
“Damn…it’s weird to say, but ever since we’ve been getting alien freaks moving to our planet, getting our score has never been easier.” One criminal said.
“Because of their tech?”
“What else would I be talkin’ about?” Criminal 1 retorted. “Pretty soon cops aren’t gonna be a problem.”
Ghost Spider heard enough and pounced on one of the men. Some men who were now startled thought of running to their cars to drive off.
“No idiots! We can take her with our gear!” One man yelled. Ghost Spider sighed, hoping none of the men would think to use the alien technical weapons.
Making quick work, she webbed half the men, and tried taking the weapons. Unfortunately one of the men was able to grab the weapon and began firing at her. The blast beam started hitting the beams and poles.
“You idiot! You’re making the supporters unstable.” Ghost Spider said. She used a web string to pull the advanced gun off the man’s grip. She then webbed everyone into a cocoon, and walked to one of the cocooned men. “Listen here pal, and listen good.” She said. “Who’s your boss?”
“I ain’t talkin!”
“Tell me or I start gifting you with a black eye.”
“If I talk, I’m dead.”
“Where are you getting these weapons?”
“We work for an anonymous dealer, and the big man.” The man said.
“Who’s this Big Man?”
“I dunno! All I know is he needs the alien tech.”
The NYPD arrived and parked by, Ghost Spider wrote from a sticky note paper saying:
These guys are stealing alien weapons, dig into that instead of me –G.S.
Ghost Spider swung off to her apartment and as she entered, she heard knocking. “Gwen? Sweetie? You better be doing homework.”
Gwen’s suit shifted into civilian clothing. George Stacy entered slowly to find his daughter reading a biology text book. “Hey Dad.”
“Hey sweetheart. Since you’re studying I expect good results on your upcoming exams.”
“Yes Dad.”
George just stared but then nodded and closed Gwen’s bedroom door, heading to the kitchen to make supper.
