Jen Davis focuses the camera on her own body to interrogate social stereotypes about obesity and the feelings that result from them. Documenting her figure and placing it center stage, she mediates the societal pressures to conform to an unrealistic beauty standard. Davis's self-portraits have a sense of intimacy through the vulnerability of portraying herself in private and restful moments - seated on her bed, dressing or undressing, or floating in a pool amidst plant life.
