( coffee shop relations. )
It was just one of 'those' nights, a bad turn in emotions that Serena often tried to hide away. She pushed them down and away, letting them stew and bubble over until finally, she just lost it. It wasn't healthy, it wasn't right, but she would never admit to change. She was too stubborn and set in her ways, and it would only get worse.
She was making her way home when the tears came, wiping them away angrily with each one that fell. At least she had a hood up to hide most of her face, but when the rain came, it only annoyed her more. Quickening her pace through the old cobble passages of the city, she was still a good twenty minutes or so from home. Luckily, there was a coffee shop up ahead at the end of the street, one of those late opening places. The time was pushing on nine now, but a hot drink and a fire would help for a bit. Without any more deliberation she took the side door in, dropping her hood as soon as the door shut behind her.
Her cheeks were still tear-stained, but she kept her head down as much as she could, ordering her coffee quietly. Seemed like everyone else had had the same idea, though, as she could only see one free seat by the fire, a brunette woman sitting in the partner seat. She was bold though, and went over.
"Hi... mind if I sit here?"

"Can I help you, miss? I'm afraid my boss is out at the moment."

"I had not expected to see you this soon after my return. Did you miss me that much?" The criminal mastermind let out a gentle laughter, watching the woman in front of him. "You haven't changed a bit, have you?"

As the train pulled away from the station, Molly sighed and glanced down at her magazine half-heartedly. She was already bored and not looking forward to the long trip ahead. Somehow she always wound up picking the wrong reading material or the uncomfortable seat - but at least she was alone. Sometimes she didn't even get that lucky.

Irene heals the phone to her ear listening to the voice mail over and over again trying to take in exactly what it was saying and why Jim would need to see her so desperately. Irene sighed and pocketed her phone and hurried down the street, she knew from experience that Jim didn't like to be kept waiting. Irene arrived at Jim's house only a few minuets later and walked up to the door knocking quickly and waited for an answer. After a few minuets she knocked again. "Jim darling! It's me...I got your text and get here as soon as I could." She called out hoping he would hear.
