Jenni Crain’s work transgresses a fixed media locality as it reciprocally responds to a given or perceived architectural atmosphere. The affect of such correlative conditions is investigated through the conceptual impressions of the frame. The frame, in itself a supportive structure of a concept, a composition, and/or a form, both abstractly and exactly subjugates an array of referential convergences commensurate to the frame’s customary relationship to an art object; the frame as the foundation of constructed space, be it the gallery or the home; and the frame as metonym for human form. These simultaneous susceptive and constituted conditions articulate a consideration of the event of experience between both an emotionally interpretive and physically situated environmental influence.
Jenni Crain (B. 1991,New York) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. in received her BFA from Pratt Institute in 2013. Crain is the co-founder of Topless, a seasonal gallery based in Rockaway Beach, NY.
