"Dad, there's something I need to discuss with you. I know my curfew is 10, but I'll be staying out until 10 past 10 tonight, and I cannot take no for an answer. It is important for my psychosocial development that I learn to push boundaries with the authority figures in my life. Please understand, and don't worry when I'm late. You may ground me accordingly, however I shall ignore that too as a part of my average teenage rebellion. Okay bye, love you, see you at 10:10 sharp!"
It is hard to keep from laughing, from even cracking a smile. She is so precise with her words that she must have practiced them no less than a dozen times to herself. Did she really believe that ten minutes would make a difference to Clarus? Or that she wasn't supposed to tell him if she was going to break her curfew?
Instead, he sighed, shaking his head. "I love you too, my little moon. Enjoy your night out and I will see you tonight. Be safe and remember that if you put your keys between your knuckles, they don't count as weapons."
