This costume, likely designed by Jenny Beavan for the 1998 film 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑨𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓, was first worn by Melanie Lynskey as Jaqueline De Ghent.   The gown was used again for Showtime’s 2017 miniseries 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔, where it was worn by Rebecca Benson as Margaret Plantagenet, though it was worn with different sleeves.   Learn more at Bit.ly/TudEliz152

This blue suit with subtle stripes was designed by Jenny Beavan for Jude Law’s portrayal of Dr. John Watson in the 2009 film 𝑺𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒌 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒎𝒆𝒔.   The suit appeared again in the 2016 film 𝑻𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒚’𝒔 𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒓, where it was worn by Jack Lowden as Tommy Morris.   There are bound to be other costume crossovers from these two films, so be sure to keep an eye out! Jenny Beavan possibly designed this russet-colored gown for Anjelica Huston to wear as Rodmilla de Ghent in the 1998 film 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑨𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓. However, because some of Huston’s costumes were worn in previous productions, such as her headdress, it’s possible that this gown dates to an earlier film.   The costume was seen later in 2002, worn by Jennifer Ehle as Christabel LaMotte in the adaptation of the A. S. Byatt novel 𝑷𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏. Ehle is no stranger to recycled costumes, having appeared in them many times.   Finally, the gown was seen on an extra as a courtier in the short-lived musical television show 𝑮𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒕, where it appeared in the 2015 pilot episode.   Learn more at Bit.ly/TudEliz215

The costume, initially designed by Jenny Beavan for Sienna Miller, made its debut in the 2005 film 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂, where Miller portrayed the character Francesca Bruni. It was then reused in 𝑬𝒏 𝒌𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒈 𝒂𝒇𝒇æ𝒓𝒆 (𝑨 𝑹𝒐𝒚𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒇𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒓) by Alicia Vikander, who played Caroline Mathilde. Finally, the costume appeared in the first season of 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒌 in 2015, worn by Sally Dexter as Mrs. Chynoweth.   In 2024, the gown was put up for auction by @kerrytaylorauctions as part of their “Lights Camera Auction,” which featured costumes from @cosproplondonuk   Learn much more about this costume by visiting our website at Bit.ly/StuGeo161

A rather interesting take on relatability, this (for Renaissance fashions) unusually loose suede doublet with more than a little nod to 1980s rock chic was designed by Jenny Beavan for Dougray Scott's Prince Henry in 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑨𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓, the 1998 take on 𝑪𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂.   A bit sidelined, it turned up again on an uncredited extra as a huntsman in the television adaptation of Philippa Gregory's 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑩𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒚𝒏 𝑮𝒊𝒓𝒍 in 2003.   This costume was recently auctioned off by Kerry Taylor Auctions. Inspired by the shape of the graduation cap (also known as an academic cap, graduate cap, mortarboard, or trencher), this hat was probably designed by Jenny Beavan for Romola Garai as Barbara Spooner in the 2006 𝑨𝒎𝒂𝒛𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆.   It was adorned with decorative but fussy feathers for the next known use on Chloe Pirrie as the equally fussy and clucky Isabella Knightly in the 2020 𝑬𝒎𝒎𝒂.   The feathery velvet cap was lastly reused on Agni Scott’s Mrs. Croft for the 2022 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒖𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏.   See more photos of this piece on our website: Bit.ly/Acces195
